Need some tuning advice from someone in the know, google ain't providing!
My Lude could do with a tune up, few bolt-ons (throttle body, intake mani, exhaust mani, decat and exhaust) which are sitting there doing nothing without a tune-up. I don't have mega cash to spend at the minute on a standalone system so have have been looking at VAFC controllers. Their initial use is to alter the VTEC engagement but apparently can be used to alter the air/fuel maps too and can gain a few horses with a good tune.
Some reviews are saying they are the best bang for the buck and others saying pointless. Anyone got any experience?
import hondata
i dont know much about computers other then my mom she got me one and put a couple games on there i play
lol, prelude tuning.
I found this humerus.

But seriously, I saw a third gen Prelude the other day, and you're right they are quite...uh...not pretty.

That's a big pic.
Yeah. I'm not sure why they changed fromt the sleek wedge to a hideous blob.
I haven't bothered with them though so I'm no help. Plus the H/F series is... not my thing. I can tell you all you want about D/B/etc. but I don't play with your boat anchor Accord motors :smug:
Although, Bisi can make a fucking F22 scream. I wish I had that much money and my own shop. :smith:

What's not to like about the H engine? 200bhp as stock, quite easy to see 220-240 with a set of aggressive cams and a lot more torque than the B series, plus a decent H series will cost you half the price. Win win.
And the tranny is also cable shift instead of a regular linkage setup, swapping them into anything is a bitch, tuning them isn't as simple as the oft-used B series because they aren't as common of a swap...
In the long run a B series or D series build will be cheaper and run circles around a modded H series.
I mean, since you're stuck with it being a Prelude guy, the best thing I can say is to swap an F22A head, get all of your shit from Bisimoto. He knows how to make one of those run.
But then again, you're spending tens of thousands there. A few grand can make a B/D reasonably quick :/
Regardless, good luck with the tune, and it's always nice to see someone playing with a Honda. Too many people disregard them as "rice" and would rather see them destroyed than built. Personally I find them to be a cheap alternative to gas-guzzling 3-4 ton monsters when trying to make something quick.
Then again I'm a fan of any car that isn't a Ford. And on a full moon, I sometimes thirst for a foxbody Mustang.
Hondas are rice because 90% of owners don't see their true potential, just some retarded jdm trash covered fashion statement.
Back to the point. Does anyone have any experience with the vafc tuning? If I could get away with a good tune on a £50 chip rather than buying a full £400 standalone unit then I'd be happy. I wouldn't bother with changing the vtec engagement point but you can alter the air/fuel maps but not ignition timings.
don't do piggybacks, get hondata or whatever your car uses and get a dyno tune

This is sadly 100% true.
Absolute bargain! Have just secured a set of nearly new Koni Yellow shocks with Eibach springs for £200! Bloke is selling them in the local ads on behalf of a friend who's had a garage clearout and perhaps doesn't know what he's selling. The fact that there's only 3-4 ludes in my town I'd never have expected to see anything like that for sale in the local paper.
Gonna go have a look tomorrow and if they're OK and not leaking or anything I'll have saved myself about £400!
So, the team owner wants a new livery for the cars and told me to try and make some designs. What do you think?

I'm running out of ideas now :frown:
I actually liked the top of your first post the most.
Ferosso, I'm liking that second one in your first post. A little conservative style would look cool.
My girlfriend wants to buy a 240sx. A balance of performance and price she says its ideal for her. What do you guys think? She's looking for a cost effective fun daily.

I plan on repainting the whole car this summer break, we'll see how that goes. I like how this turned out, but a whole paint job is a lot more work...
200mph rx7
Paint it black with a red stripe going slightly off center. Like, An three to five inches from the center.

Get a Turbo II hood and front end before you repaint, you will be more satisfied with the end result.
180 years and it still looks fresh
