Computer Addiction: My Problem, and how I need something else to do
ill tell you what i did. well a while back I installed a torrent (TORRENTS = BAD dont use them) of an OS and it fucked my computer up (dont download torrents at all anyways! they are baaad) so I had to wait a week for ACER to send in a recovery disk since my computer got stuck at the first few boot up screens.
this is just my story but maybe take a vital part out of your computer like the keyboard or mouse or swap your mouse or keyboard for shitty ones that you would rather not use. so making your computer a really hard place to work or relax can get you out of addiction. helped me and in the meantime I lifted weights and now im building my muscles.
Sounds weird, also, torrents caused your life to change hugely for the better, and then you bash them by TORRENTS=BAD. In my opinion, if that torrent didn't exist, you may have never began muscle building and would be in a similar situation to me. But yes, good idea.

torrents let me discover new and obscure music, therefore enhancing my alt lifestyle and makin me more cool.
You will discover that as u move through ur journey of life.

I'm sorry, but what did I just read. I'm afraid of getting cancer, but that's the only bit that really applies to me
You seem very clever for being 13.
You could learn an instrument? I play piano myself.
Weightlifting and stuff like that? Start going to a gym.
They are perhaps not cheap but it's worth it in the end
Become a freemason and control peoples minds.
You're not into guys like me. I heard that you, Megan Fox, a female, broke up with a female lover in another thread, so, no. I do not wish to meet up with you in real life. Thank you for offering though
Missing out on some hardcore anal.

By anal I meant, me sticking dildo in your anus.

Do you really think that I'm clever for 13 years of age? How so?
Grow a spine, or commit suicide.
If you can't do either to stop using a computer your life isn't worth living.
If someone considers his life worth living, it is. You don't decide for people.
Get some kind of social networking account (as in Facebook). Helps immensely if you want to organise social things with friends. Will also hopefully draw you away from video games. With any luck, the more time you spend away from video games the more you're realise that you don't really need them.

You are more articulate and understanding for a person your age.

Don't take anything on FP to heart, it makes you look short sighted.

Your vocabulary is way better than most 13 year olds, and your overall way of typing.
And most 13 year olds wouldn't even bother thinking about your computer addiction problem.
Hell, I started doing it this year (I am 15).

Not all 13 year olds are moronic twits. :3:
FP tends to have a higher number of intelligent people (as well as arrogant/angsty/stupid people).
I'm only turning 14 on Friday.
I'm a lot like you, man. 13 years old, and I spend waaaay to much time playing video games. Don't really have any advice for you but....try doing some of the things people in this thread have mentioned. Try finding a new hobby, that you can do alongside gaming and computer-related shit.
Not all 13 year olds are moronic twits. :3:
Being a moron has nothing to do with intelligence. nor was I implying that.
There are much deeper things you will learn about as you exit puberty and enter maturity. These are things you don't read or hear about as they exceed the English language, few even have the ability to consciously recognize these things. Regardless, they affect everyone the same.
You'll know soon enough, but for now, understand that "being smart" or more refined has absolutely nothing to do with maturity.

in a way, Yes torrents helped me indirectly. just didnt want to get flamed for WAREZ OMFG OMFG BAN HIM BAN HIM. glad you saw what I was trying to get through :D
Play guitar.

That's BS, he seems like a normal 13 year old to me. Just because people type differently doesn't make them an idiot. That's like ridiculing someone because of their accent.
If someone considers his life worth living, it is. You don't decide for people.
He hardly uses it sitting inside playing games.
He hardly uses it sitting inside playing games.
Is he supposed to play them outside?

Wasn't necessarily remarking on what you said, just the general image most FPers tend to have of 13 year olds.
Well, you've admitted you have a problem, which is the first step in recovering from any addiction.
Now you need to find other hobbies and interests that don't involve the computer, and make a resolution to not allow the computer to rule your life. Try reading more or learn how to play the guitar.
Also, good job, realizing that your wasting your life away at such a young age. Now you still have some of your childhood left, unlike most of us :sigh:
I would, and I'd love to be able to draw like some of the people in the Creationism Corner, however, from an early age, I've had problem with arty things (computerised art is easy, but actual hand-drawn is really hard). Thank you for the suggestion, but I don't think that's the right thing for me
"Artsy" stuff isn't just limited to drawing and painting. Anything creative can be considered an art. Hell, I consider linguistics an art. :eng101:
Is he supposed to play them outside?
Yes. :downs:
fucking hell... it's not hard. Start cycling, play football, go for walks, learn an instrument, join a club/society, take a life drawing class, get into photography, go to the cinema, study, hang out with friends... find a new addiction like crack.
Just find something you enjoy, e.g. I used to spend most of my time on the pc vegetating but then I got into skydiving and other extreme sports. Now I'm qualified in kayaking, white water rafting and working towards my license in sky diving. Never been happier.
OP I was like this when I was 13 too, I grew out of it.
Find out what kind of music you like unless you know already and then go to your nearest gym, get an mp3 or ipod or something unless you already have and have a nice workout while listening to your favourite music.
Set times to use the computer, if you can follow them you can easily cut it back in a month or two.
I had to do that with E, it's a little more intense then computers admittidly, but I set 1 day every weekend until I weened myself off that shit. Been E-free for 7 months, 4 days.
Also, don't make excuses, that's the biggest killer of rehabilitation.
Do sport.
Run, bike, go to the gym, or start to dance if you're not afraid of it. To do something with your body helps lot of people to forget about their addiction.
Stop being dicks guys, he's 13 for crying out loud. At least he's decent enough to admit he's got a problem, which is something most of you people wouldn't do.
That's because most of us don't give a fuck if we're on games or whatever for far too long, everything these days is computerised in some way shape or form, might as well make the most of it.
I'm going out to get pencils for sketching/school soon. On my bike, no carbon emitting vehicles for me, because I already emit enough fumes from this computer from which I am typing from. Good day to you sirs.
Thank you, I will now try art.
