I think this is just a case of people with bad taste being disillusioned and getting really defensive about it
Facepunch loves their bandwagons. All it takes most of the time is one person to have that opinion, and then everybody will hop on too. That being said, this game feels like a terrible idea; I do like the yogscast though. I don't understand why they're "Egotistical cunts" and all their fans are "Autistic children"
Yeah I really dont know what people are bitching about, they don't have to play the game or be a part of it, let them have their shitty game. I will still like the Yogscast, the entire team put a ton of effort into their videos especially the SoI ones
It just seems arrogant to make a whole game about yourself , not only do they think they deserve the game but it needs 250.000 . The game itself sounds like a standard colorful platformer with Minecraft features awkwardly added in to appeal to their viewers.
I honestly like Yogscast, but their commentary is pretty fucking dull. Their podcast used to be alright.
that's all they do.
If I had a huge following of autistic children I wouldn't get a terrible programmer to make me an embarrassing video game I would kill myself And these guys videos are just them shouting catchphrases it's really not entertaining in the slightest. Its almost scamlike how little effort goes into these videos and how many views they get. I'd compare them to 'internet critics' like thatguywiththeglasses who just go through movies scene by scene yelling at the camera with their wacky ~characters. I feel sorry for content producers like redlettermedia who actually put effort into their shit.
omg ur so cool and cynical
I can't tell if this thread is going to turn into a shitstorm or not, the bandwagon could roll onto either side. But if they can make money off this more power to them.

"An in-game physics engine that will even effect the blocks you place in your creations" minecraft basically.
"An in-game physics engine that will even effect the blocks you place in your creations" minecraft basically.
If i could get a version of Minecraft where i can destroy a building with physics, the thought of buying it would pass through my mind at least once.
This thread has made me want to watch Yogscast.
I liked them before they had 1 million subs and now this just sell out as fuck. They lost their touch as soon as they started raking it in.
Also I checked out that indie dev they are working with: [vids] Can't wait.
"This video is marked as private/has been removed by the user" Lol they're hiding their past work. Cant wait for the Streisand effect to bite them in the ass.
The only good thing about Yogscast is that they're practically the only people that are doing videos about the Guild Wars 2 beta and even then the videos are full of unfunny "LOL MA MINION HAS A BRITISH ACCENT I'M FUNNY NOW XDDDDDD" bullshit.
Total Biscuit has done quite a bit, and it's good. He prepares everything beforehand, researches everything. He is one of the few good gaming people on youtube that I've found
This Kickstarter thing is getting way out of hand.
I'm not much of a fan of Yogscast, but this looks quite promising. To the people that think the game in the video they showed looked unprofessional, it's just a damn prototype, in like the earliest stages of alpha possible with placeholders all over the place. The concept art they showed on their kickstarter page looks pretty good so I think they aren't complete retards. it still looks better than minecraft [editline]7th April 2012[/editline]
This Kickstarter thing is getting way out of hand.
why?
Except for the fact that concept art is exponentially easier to create compared to actually game content. So far right off the bat I can tell you that the engine they're using is going to limit them to the same shit shaders you see in this alpha. You do NOT need $250,000 to create a game like this. Even if they outsourced all the work, you would not need $250,000. What's going to happen is that these guys are going to continue creating this half assed game with the same shitty dev. Then they are going to release it satisfying their ego while receiving a huge payday. Don't expect anything like that concept art, mark my words.
Alright, sorry about my idiot post earlier. It was like, 2:00 AM (You know how it goes) and I was a bit harsh. I didn't jump on the bandwagon just because. I do legitimately think they are bad. They were okay at first, but what actually hooked me was the story that had been devised and set up by their community in the Shadow of Israphel. I actually got quite annoyed when they clearly started disobeying the rules of the adventure or hesitated doing it simply because it was a shame to see something that their community put so much time and effort into go to waste because they wanted to keep faffing about. Normally, they're not very egotistical. But anyone who decides that they are so good that they need their own game about them is clearly egotistical as hell, especially when they're not making it. And to make matters worse, the one redeeming thing they had (informative videos about new mods) are also quite crap. They hardly explain anything right and talk in such a disjointed way that you would never understand the mod even after the video. Their commentary is just endlessly repeating jokes and catchphrases that have gotten so old and worn I'm surprised some archaeologist didn't find them and try and put them in a museum. From what I can gather, they simply ran out of jokes and their series has gone on WAY to long. I think they just need to take a break and come back to it after about a month once they gotten the comedy back into their systems.
looks fantastic
looks like babbys first unity game
I pledged some money. I think it looks like fun. And if it isn't big deal, I can make back that money in no time.
Total Biscuit has done quite a bit, and it's good. He prepares everything beforehand, researches everything. He is one of the few good gaming people on youtube that I've found
Oh yea, I forgot he's doing Guild Wars 2 thanks for reminding me!
So far right off the bat I can tell you that the engine they're using is going to limit them to the same shit shaders you see in this alpha
You can actually use really pretty shaders to make really pretty things in unity
Whenever I think of TYC I think of their stupid whiny voices as they suck each other's dick on Minecraft Oh Simonnn.... SIMON OH Simon you silly billy ;)
For 10,000 dollars, I can have lunch with them. That is so worth it.
I'm amazed at how many people throw thousands of dollars at things like this Also, this is seeming more like "hey give us money so someone else can make this for us" than anything else.
Seems like everyone and their mums has a kickstarter now.
It looks like Second Life
It looks like shit
People whining about 0.1 version of an alpha.
