Decent? I can lift a girl my age with normal body weight with no problem. (14)
That is basically nothing [editline]06:30AM[/editline] Unless you live in hawaii
That is basically nothing [editline]06:30AM[/editline] Unless you live in hawaii
Oh god, we already passed that one already. I can pull my own weight up, dammit. That's basically what I need the most.
Love how people have started doing parkour all because of Mirror's Edge. Nobody knew what it was before.
I did :/
So I've decided to completely start doing Parkour when summer comes by. I can make really good vaults so far. My goals are to learn rolls and possibly a small wallrun. Unless you're talking about going up the wall, wall runs aren't very easy/good/useful to start off with(wallruns length ways only become really useful if you're insanely good at them). Rolls are all good and are really useful. There are NO other Parkour-artists around here, and no clubs doing it. So I'm depending on instructional videos, gymnastics class at school, and just running around by myself. What city do you live in? Unless you live in some tiny town I find it hard to believe there are no other traceurs. I'm also getting a good pair of sneakers when I get my money (What kind of brand does FP recommend?), Ah, shoes. Let me direct you to this: http://parkourpedia.com/other/shoes-for-parkour Anything else I should know? Please post and improve my start.
[editline]04:48PM[/editline]
You need amazing upper body strength, and you're going to have amazingly calloused hands and wrists
You don't really need that much upper body strength. If you've got good technique you can use momentum to help with most of the movements you might need strength for. When I started parkour I wasn't particularly strong(although you ought to get much stronger after a while). [editline]04:50PM[/editline]
Because you look like an idiot. If I saw some 14 year old kid jumping over random objects on my way back home I'm sure I'd laugh my ass off.
Well, excuse him for enjoying himself and exercising at the same time. [editline]04:53PM[/editline]
Fuck June go do it now. What's keeping you?
What this guy said. This is the kind of place where everyone knows everybody. Thanks for the link!
By the way, the shoes I most recommend are feiyues if you can get them. Living in a small town, they may not be available, though, so you will likely have to settle for volleys. Best thing about them is the thin soles. Worst consequence is you need new ones very often.
Hey guys I wanna know how to parkour without using Google, help please? I can already jump over medium sized objects so that means I'm good, also I can bench my cat. Is there an easy way todo this?
Obligatory Parkour video
I've done some parkour with the guy who does the wall-flip in the youtube video. He's the leader of Parkour Los Angeles. He's a pretty cool guy.
Climb the air. That should help a bit.
Fuck no. I never will be. I have this thing in my body that has gone down generations on my dads side that sucks up all the fat from food, so I can never actually be FAT until I become around my 60s-70s when the effect "wears off", sort of. It is something everyone has, but me and my relatives have a super-version of it.
Are you talking about metabolism? OP for your sake, you need to settle down. I have a feeling you're 14 or under...

But I have these shoes and they are absolutely amazing for Parkour. 90% of PKLA wears them.
why the hell is Parkour so popular now? it honestly just sounds like some hipster sport because they are too much of wimps to play football or baseball. at least thats how it exactly is at my school
Are you talking about metabolism? OP for your sake, you need to settle down. I have a feeling you're 14 or under...
Yesh, thank you. And yes, I'm 14. Going 15 in a just 2 months.
How many pushups, pullups and situps can you do? Just to get an idea of your physical fitness. And the real deal, not the girly version of these exercises. Don't lie, because this isn't to make fun of you, this is to see if you're fit for parkour.
Yesh, thank you. And yes, I'm 14. Going 15 in a just 2 months.
god damnit 10ers DONT SAY YOUR AGE OVER THE INTERNET because you are going to get trolled the fuck out of. and honestly you deserve it anyways.

I did it at my school for a while with a friend who basically "got over it" after several months. I'm still doing it but I don't do it at school anymore. Personally I also play hockey but I've always loved running, climbing and just going fast in general. Parkour's perfect for me. Does that mean I'm allowed to say my age over the internet?
What's with the thick heels/lack of an arch?
I just put my own insoles inside it. What's cool is how grippy the bottom is. It's unbelievable, I could only do 2 step wallruns before I got these, and now I can do 3. (Although now I can do 3 regardless of shoe I'm wearing, it's these shoes that taught me how to do it right).
OP is a 14 year old "rebellious" scooter-fag.

Ive seen videos of trainers of parkour and they look really buff and fit unlike the social rejects at my school who just play Mirrors Edge too much.
How many pushups, pullups and situps can you do? Just to get an idea of your physical fitness. And the real deal, not the girly version of these exercises. Don't lie, because this isn't to make fun of you, this is to see if you're fit for parkour.
When I started parkour I could barely do 10 push ups. I can still only comfortably do 30 and I'd like to say I'm pretty good at parkour. There aren't really that many situations in parkour that can't be compensated for by leg strength instead of arm strength. Utilise momentum properly and it's all good. Until you need to do a muscle up... Those aren't really that hard, though.
well if you are a 06er than that probably means you are older than 15. just law... well yeah these kids need attention and they cant do anything else athletic. If you can do a decent amount of pullups, pushups and situps, and you have good endurance, parkour is not tough physically. Mentally is another story.
You can do parkour without gymnastics, it's tricking that you should have gymnastic training for.
You do not need gymnastics training for tricking, I've been doing tricking for almost 2 years and I don't have any past gymnastics background. also, practically half of tricking is martial arts. OP, if you decide to do parkour/free running (whatever it is you decide to do) please go and PRACTICE flips and what not in a gymnastics centre, preferably into a foam pit.

How long have you been doing it?

My comment about the thick heels was based around the advice that I have heard countless times which is: Have as much interaction as is comfortably possible with the environment. Thick soled shoes decrease your foot's interaction with the surface you're on and also tend to encourage poor running/landing technique. [editline]05:35PM[/editline]
OP is a 14 year old "rebellious" scooter-fag.
Just because he's doing something he enjoys doing? How is parkour different from any other physical exercise?
Carefully study every aspect of this video, and then don't do it.
Just because he's doing something he enjoys doing? How is parkour different from any other physical exercise?
I agree with this on principle, but it really seems to me like the OP is just going through a phase. If not, good for him, but I have a feeling this won't last.

I don't know if you're judging them without really knowing them seeing as I don't know you or them but if what you're saying is true then I agree. By the way, I am fourteen. Turning fifteen in November. [editline]05:37PM[/editline]
Buff is not necessary, but fit helps. You need to be able to manipulate your own weight.
