I don't like how he clings to his whole blocks/minecraft concept thing...

What do you plan for graphics ? Realistics à la EVE ?
Simple graphics. Very simple. The game will have no textures. Flat colored polygons with modern lighting, but no textures. None. (except a few)
Great.
Trying to get in on the action I see?
So... more cubes?
It needs a catchy Minecraft space pun for a name. I'm thinking something like... Starcraft.
the small infinity team had their game to before it was abandoned
infinity was never abandoned, no idea what you're talking about. The engine is going into beta this summer.
Great.
Was never a fan of minecraft. When he announced this I thought maybe he'd make a game I'd enjoy. The thing is he probably couldn't make a game with decent graphics if he tried, so instead he's going to do it as cheap as possible. Not only does it seem like he's putting low effort into this game, he's charging a monthly fee, what a joke. I'd rather have a f2p or pay once game with a cash shop(like guild wars 2 or any of the f2p ones out there), than pay a monthly fee.
Notch needs monthly feeds, I heard his games servers will be 10x as powerful as WoW servers.

Guess we get our news from the same source.
A game that's free but if you don't pay you will loose with everyone who does pay, is a scam.
Not always the case.
Was just playing blacklight retribution. Anything you can buy that effects gameplay (like gear, armor and weapons) can all be bought with ingame money at the right level. You can pay real money if you want it before you get to the right level or don't have enough ingame currency to buy.
(things like character and weapon skins are premium only. But those do not change stats.)
And things like trackmania nations are completly free. No pay 2 win there at all.
I am saying that there are some good F2P MMOs out there. The developer has to decide quality over money.
Notch fails to see that.
EDIT: Or he doesn't want to see that and thinks that monthly fees make a game magically balanced and not pay 2 win.
ME3 is ~$75 for everything, and that's a scam - it works both ways and Notch is still one lucky dumb motherfucker.
Every new game is $80 here, because the dumbfuck publishers always sell it for €60.
Blockade runner actually looks fucking awesome.
I'm starting to think that low resoloution textures and low poly counts aren't part of his "visual style" at all.
If I didn't know any better (which I don't) I would say that modern graphics go beyond Mojang's budget and/or skill level.
That's exactly what I thought when I read the question regarding graphics.

Yeah people pretty much realized that a long time ago.
"A game that's free but if you don't pay you will loose with everyone who does pay, is a scam."
Not always the case.
No, it always is the case. I'm saying that pay2win is a scam and then you say "not always the case" and give me examples of something that's not pay2win. What?
But, the concept of free to play games isn't a scam, the games that are pay to win are. I assume Notch is addressing the concept and not individual games. So, the people saying "f2p isn't a scam" are correct.
Pay2win games are free to play but they are scam. When you say that f2p is not a scam you are saying that every f2p game is not a scam, including pay2win games. Which is doing exactly what Notch is doing except in the opposite direction.

I was talking about F2P games in general.
You seem to think that F2P and P2W are two different kinds of games.
F2P is a kind of game.
And P2W is a descriptor of a F2P game.
God. This guy is a fucking joke.
[editline]13th April 2012[/editline]
Honestly, im hoping he runs out of the money he made with minecraft because honestly with the effort he puts out towards his customers he doesn't fucking deserve it.
Who would pay monthly for a game this shitty? Obviously a fanboy.

It's not even in pre-alpha and just started development around 1 week ago. At least judge the game further down the line.
Also, the video in OP isn't actual footage of the game.
