Say what you will, but the important thing is I had fun making this. I tried creating something completely a new - without using the source material from the current Steam OS image, but obviously trying to keep the same style. Steam Logo is a bit wonky from my bad clipping skills.
Nice, I like this one. Anyway, I might be wrong, but I think the official SteamOS layout style will probably look like BigPicture.
I gave it another shot :v: EDIT: Did some more stuff with it.

Late, but I gave it a try. Didn't come out too bad I think, but nothing like some of those above. Given the simplicity of the SteamOS image we have, I can't imagine the design being too busy or cluttered. I get a feeling almost of the old Zune mobile OS (that eventually turned into Windows Mobile and ushered in the new UI in Win8) that had simple yet fluid transitions, clear fonts, and an overall very clean and space-efficient interface. Now that I think about it, i really miss my old Zune. At the time it really felt like an iPod killer, but that's for a different forum section altogether.
You guys that are trying to do the minimal thing really need to focus on more consistent sizing/spacing and on giving your elements room the breath. Almost all of these buttons and text boxes feel like they belong on 15 year old websites.
OP forgot one crucial detail
[t]http://i.imgur.com/TTMwLnx.png[/t]
The noise effect looks, well, too noisy.
