i'd say all forms of extremism would be a more accurate explanation. That would cover religious extremism (al qaeda, hamas, hezbollah, many others), as well as nationalist extremism (ira) or simply groups with an extreme political stance (i.e. The far-left raf)
islamic extremism is simply the most prevalent form of terrorism nowadays, which i guess is why people make that association.[/quote]

Terrorism is usually fueled by a single person not liking something. He/she therefore gets together a group of like-minded individuals who are dumb/crazy enough to do something violent against that something that they do not like. Or Terrorism can be carried out by a single person. It could be over money, power or the absolute hate of something.
