My biggest complaint with the Resident Evil series is how they started off with little to no connection to the games aside from Umbrella, and then they started to introduce characters from the game, but not even building off that. I mean I remember watching the third movie wondering why they named the character Claire Redfield. Nothing was gained naming her after the game character, since she was just filler material. It really just fucking pisses me off, since all they accomplish is fucking up the source material.

I'm a die hard resident evil fan, I've played almost all the resident evil games (including the failed survivors rail-shooter game). I know most of the story and plot line like the back of my hand. I truly love the series and continue to play RE1-3 on my PS/PSP. When the first three came out i was very skeptical, but i gave it a chance. The first one wasn't bad, it wasn't like the full on story but it was close enough, second one was "alright" it was starting to drift and the 3rd movie was pretty cool at some parts, but mostly shit, it almost had nothing to do with the true story. Now she has "super powers" which makes the whole zombie survival thing pointless, thus making Resident evil movies pointless. Resident evil is all about survival and action. Not about having super powers and running around shooting shit like your neo, only person that has powers like that is Wesker and he has a story to back all that up. Seeing this just makes me want to cry, NINJA SWORDS? NINJA STARS? what the fuck is this shit. This movie is going to end up being like Aeon flux with fucking zombies. I can see a lot of resident evil 4 and 5 elements in it. But still, what in the hell. I mean i will see this movie most likely because Wesker and just to watch it seeing as i've seen all the others. You don't need all this unnecessary bullshit to make a good movie or sell it. Look at George Romero for example.. Now they go on to add 3D? Oh my fucking god. TLDR - I'm pissed. The story isn't so much about zombies (like you said) it is more or less about the umbrella and all the characters. If you play the game it isn't so much about "We got to stop these zombie outbreaks and kill all the zombies." It is "I got to survive and make umbrella pay for this." And always near the end of the game you break in to an umbrella lab or headquarters. You learn why the characters do what they do, what they've experienced. All the original resident evil games are like a very long story, what makes the games interesting is the background information and plot. Some way or another, it might not be obvious but they're all connected and have some relevance to one an other.

The train in the movie is ripped directly from the train in Resident Evil 2. I love all the Resident Evil antagonists. Birkin was awesome in the games. I stopped caring about these movies after the first.

I saw the first two movies, I thought they were pretty good. Granted, I saw them before I played any of the games, but still. I loved RE: Apocalypse, becuase besides the whole Alice thing, it was the most true to the series. There were some shots in that one that looked exactly like some of the FMV cuscenes from RE3:Nemesis.

I liked RE1, RE2 was atrocious, vomit inducingly bad, RE3 was marginally better than 2 but still garbage, and I was hoping they'd get their act together but that's an unrealistic hope. This looks as bad as 2 and 3.
