Beloit, Wisconsin....shitty city in some areas *click clack pow*
So there was a fire not too far from me.
Holy shit where was that at? That looks insanely cool.
Holy shit where was that at? That looks insanely cool.
A warehouse near the corner of Pershing and Ashland.
Oh shit it's on Ashland, I can just walk there.
Oh shit it's on Ashland, I can just walk there.
Same here mate.
I was just about to post about that, crazy stuff. Happened tuesday night, must have been absurdly cold passed through there a week ago on the way to back of the yards
Downers Grove here, but previously from Lyons (which was pretty shitty btw) god, there's been like no real snow here, excluding small dots of snow here and there
looks like the place caught fire again http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1242463 [t]http://imgkk.com/i/ut7u.jpg[/t] and jesus the roads are terrifying today in north chicagoland, nobody thought to plow so it was a slip'n'slide all morning. Took me THREE hours to get to work when it usually takes ~50min-1h for those acquainted with Round Lake (seems like a few), the terrible intersection* in front of mcdonald's near 83/rollins was twice as bad as it's infamous for, with how asshat drivers clog it up. I had to wait three stoplights to make it through (I pass through the dead parking lot to the next street to avoid the normal clogs), and I was the only person on my side. People coming from McD's side would turn left (toward 83) when it was a plain green light, blocking me from going forward, and I had a guy drive AROUND from behind me to end up plugging himself into line towards 83, blocking up both me and the people across the street. had to lay on the horn when I had a clearing because the guy across the street was already starting to turn in to block the lane whilst rollins traffic was stuck with a train thank goodness I know shortcuts around stuff, actually taking rollins is even more of a time sink than waiting to cut across
Knapp, Wisconsin. Population: 400. Yeah, I'm surprised I even have internet.
Hurrah, Chicago, Illinois baby. I live in the south. Not so far from Lake Michigan. Finally feels good knowing there's a thread for the region I live in. [editline]26th January 2013[/editline] heil cook county.
You close to Bridgeport by any chance? Me and hl2poo would love another Bridgeport buddy.
I live in Bridgeport, man. It's real good over here. Except I'm extremely underaged :c
Is the warehouse still standing? I want to see it tomorrow before it's completely demolished.
Is the warehouse still standing? I want to see it tomorrow before it's completely demolished.
too many fires around where I live to count :(
Just got back from taking pictures of the warehouse. When I got there, the entire front was already demolished and only the left wall remained, still frozen. There was a big fire in the middle of the rubble and the demolisher guy in the excavator didn't give a fuck and kept on demolishing. Then a firetruck came and started to hose down the fire. Kinda disappointed that I didn't get to see the entire front face of the frozen warehouse. I took over a hundred pictures and currently editing them. But here are a "few" that I thought looked pretty cool. Pictures! Martin. Here are the remnants of your message. :( [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/HVYCWpY.jpg[/img_thumb] And I got a bunch of ash on my glasses. I also got a lot on my camera and the front element of my lens but I cleaned it all off. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/eqYxHiM.jpg[/img_thumb]
Oh and Pvt. Martin. Here are the remnants of your message. :( [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/eqYxHiM.jpg[/img_thumb]
I left an FP logo and my name drawn in the snow. Guess it melted :c. Ah well. Nice pictures though. Still waiting for my pop to get the ones we took ready.
Mishawaka, Indiana reporting in. We're known as that one city near South Bend with the football players that shove broom handles up eachother's asses. You can also join in on the local tradition of masturbating and drinking every time there's a Nortre Dame game on. Other than that there's a few nice restaurants and... that's about it. Oh yeah we used to have a nice park on the St. Joe river, but we stopped caring about the water quality and it smells like shit now. [editline]27th January 2013[/editline] Also we're not Amish.
Ah Illinois. I just moved up to Gurnee in August from Tennessee to start working at a job in the Loop. It's a pretty long commute from up here to the Loop. I take the Metra which is pretty nice I suppose. This whole Winter thing is very new to me, though. Goddamn highs in the 10's are just awful. Tennessee doesn't really have much of a winter, so this has taken a lot of adjusting to get used to. The area and the people are so much better than Tennessee at least, although leaving all my friends was pretty hard.

[sp]seriously though I hope you enjoy your time here. c:[/sp] [editline]27th January 2013[/editline] Also enjoy the bonus lake effect chill and snow.

Driving is fun though
Oh yeah Dai is a gurnee resident. Maybe you should meet him.
Who wants to have a banger?
Thankfully my office is on Madison and Franklin, so it's only 3 blocks from Union Station. The worst part about this cold is when all the crap in my nose freezes. What an uncomfortable feeling. It also doesn't help that I start work at 7:30am, so I have to get up at 5am and take the 5:50am train. Too damn early and too damn cold, but I make decent money now working a help desk. Much better than working at a dollar store in Tennessee, apart from having nearly no free time anymore.
how bout that freak ten minute thunderstorm last night followed by a 60 degree breeze in the morning [del]month[/del] last week and a half recap, Chicagoland edition: >double-digit sub zero temperatures freeze over a burning building as fire crews work on it >45 degrees >10-20 degrees for a while >fuck that frozen building again >rain turned to ice >the building catches fire as it's torn down and the workers stop caring and just keep going >cold as balls >oh hey T shirt weather [t]https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc1/734616_425386410879548_47843106_n.jpg[/t] [sp]comic saaaaaaaans[/sp]
Munster reporting in.
Some crazy high winds and thunderstorms down here. Wonder how this is all gonna pan out with all the wetness, then once the temps drop... oh boy.
There's a lot of flood warnings because the ground is too frozen to absorb the rain.
It's 55 degrees here. I went running in shorts and a t-shirt.
65 degrees in parts of Indiana today. It was pretty nice.
