Pretty sure its just spraypaint. Everything in their world is dirty and rusty, and them being "shiny and chrome" right before they go to Valhalla has some sort of religious meaning too it.
I wondered if it it was some kind of futuristic space drug they did, and how that seemed out of place for the setting. But the idea that they're just getting hopped up on paint fumes as they get ready to die makes way more sense. Also I dont give a shit what anyone else thinks, Nux is the main character.
Nud Nux.
I know it'll never happen, but if the next film opens with the line "My name is Nux" I'll probably start giggling with glee.

My hope is that nux and the redhead had a quit bang at some point, and their kid appears in the sequel.
I know its not a popular opinion, but this movie was just mediocre. The effects were nice but the story was dumb as shit. lets go to my home land, oh its destroyed, lets go back.
I'm sorry but that just isn't acceptable. You owe it to yourself to go watch the film again.
What i perhaps liked the most about this movie was for the fact there was no completely unnecessary love-plot going on like so many movies always try to cram in. I did like the whole [sp]the redhead "wife" who cares/likes Nux[/sp]

It was actually incredible how it was structured in that regard despite being set up to be almost a constant action flick based off the tanker scene of old.
