I wondered if it it was some kind of futuristic space drug they did, and how that seemed out of place for the setting. But the idea that they're just getting hopped up on paint fumes as they get ready to die makes way more sense.

I'm sorry but that just isn't acceptable. You owe it to yourself to go watch the film again.
What i perhaps liked the most about this movie was for the fact there was no completely unnecessary love-plot going on like so many movies always try to cram in. I did like the whole [sp]the redhead "wife" who cares/likes Nux[/sp]

Not only did they pay a great homage to Road Warrior, they managed to make a movie that still focused on Max [I]without[/I] him being the titular hero. It was actually incredible how it was structured in that regard despite being set up to be almost a constant action flick based off the tanker scene of old.
