As people say, just do it. Not everything's gonna come out like you want to. I'm currently writing a script, I don't ever expect to actually make it, but that's not gonna stop me. I did a few short films with Actors for Autism, was in an independent film, and I'm starting to do things for Youtube, now.
I'm quite creative, I love coming up with ideas for games, stories, movies etc.
jesus christ we must have connected minds i come up with game ideas all the time, including one, Project 9. which may become a lemonade-script gamemode soon.
second step:

upload your stuff to youtube

Third step. Video gets removed because you used nickleback for 3 seconds
Step 4: Upload to vimeo
You guys are not special. I'm sure almost all of us have done that, and if all of us post "HEY WE ARE THE SAME PERSON" this place is going to hell. My advice to the OP is to try to get into some kind of media school. I did (norway) and it's been great so far.
If you don't have a camera find a used Video8 handycam for like $20 or something. Don't start shelling out any serious money unless you think you can really start getting more advanced. Friends are the best actors and film crew you can have too. Just write some short scripts or even just outlines and run with it. Find out what you're capable of.
Don't ever do media studies. Ever.
While there are a lot of film makers that never went to film school or taken any film related courses really media studies can help show you basic camera and lighting techniques that are easily done and can make your films look much better. If you have the chance you should take media studies in my opinion, you can learn some basic but valuable information.

How do you get started? You go out and do it. You get a short script sorted, get some actors from your schools drama classes, get a few mates to help with your lighting, props and all that, then get it on YouTube or Vimeo. If you're looking for a camera, i'd reccomend the Nikon D90, it can shoot in 720p HD and is less expensive than the Canon 5D that was reccomended earlier in this thread (You can pick up a D90 for around £600)
Why get an SLR for video. A cheap, decent, shoulder mount HDV camcorder is the Sony HVR-HD1000E Take a look, seems decent
Man I'm the same as you, but I've chosen to do game design because I see there being more jobs there, but I'm going to buy a camera and work on stuff on the site. Quentin Tarantino didn't go to college to make films, he was working in a video store, so you don't need to study films to make a good one. Just do a bit of research on the side :)

Theres a difference between going to college and studying it as your main subject and researching it on the side.

No according to me you can research on the side and not study it full time. Why bother try correct me on my opinion, only telling the guy what I think to be frank.

Sleep with the director or producer. It's the only way.
I have the same problem bro, if I could just wipe my brain on some paper and it come out exactly how I see it.
I have this same dilemma. I write books, and make movies. I can't get the ideas how I want. It sucks! I feel your pain.

Do as james rolf (Can't remember his last name), the angry video game nerd. His plans has always been being a movie director, but nobody cared about his videos, so he made cinemassacre, where they got a little more populare. Then he made the game reviews, and now everyone knows who he is and what he does, and it's only a matter of time before someone famous hears about him. Just come up with something new and original, make a ton of movies about it, and there you go.
It seems I've sparked a little bromance :smug: Thanks for all your help guys. I'm gonna start talking about it to my mates and try to get involved in some kind of drama club shit at my school. Thanks a bunch everyone.
Weird, because i have a similar issue to you, except i like to experiment with stories by mixing them with other story elements from books, movies and games.
Woah bro, nearly arrested? :smug:
why would he map his school in CSS? that's terrorist-like.
Check the school for programs that involve film. We have AVPA at my school, you probably have something similar.
