I wonder if Wii u games can be purchased through the store? If you so I'm ecstatically sold, i'm just digging the portability and the way the controls work. :hypeisreal: edit Also, Nintendo please don't mess up the battery I see skyrim playing, so it must have a good battery for it to last!
-snip- wrong thread
Does this mean I can Smash in public when people call me out? Cause I think this means I can Smash in public when people call me out.
Anyone else find the design really boring, cheap looking and utilitarian?
It is utilitarian, and I love it. More technology should go for this look.
Anyone else find the design really boring, cheap looking and utilitarian?
Sometimes function is the best form.

I like how it isnt glossy black
It's the equivalent of a quick time event. You have an enemy that moves in a specific way and you can tell immediately exactly by their pose that you're supposed to swing your sword a specific way. There's no depth to it, there's no secrets or tricks to discover, and there's no further purpose to the angle you swing your sword. It's a gimmick. Compare that to something like A Link Between World's portrait mechanic and the variety of different, clever ways that's used.
I'm not saying it's the deepest gameplay ever, but it's not a gimmick. It has more depth than some games' central mechanics - I'd say it has more depth than Nidhogg's combat, for example. A Tegra chip will be more powerful than the Wii U but not by enough that emulation will be feasible. The only way I can see Wii U compatibility happening is if they cram an entire Espresso/Latte into it (maybe in the base station?) I'd sooner expect 3DS compatibility. They didn't show any touchscreen usage in the trailer but the leaks claim it has a touchscreen, and it should be able to emulate it fairly easily (esp. since the CPU is still ARM).
I imagine you don't count it, but there was always the 3DS version of Smash 4.
Can't use "i forgot my 3DS at home" excuse when I pull out my Nintendo Switch, bitch!
Would like a touch screen though. I've gotten so used to systems having a touch screen.
I hope that if you can play 3ds games on it that there will be an option to download better models and stuff for use on the Switch
Would like a touch screen though. I've gotten so used to systems having a touch screen.
It has a multi-touch screen, or is listed as having one. Not sure why it wasn't shown in the promotional video.
It has a multi-touch screen, or is listed as having one. Not sure why it wasn't shown in the promotional video.
Speculation on Ars Technica is that Nintendo doesn't want games to rely on a touchscreen for inputs, because you can't use that while docked. The cost of a touchscreen these days is pennies - it might be worth it just to use for menus and such while in handheld mode, and not use it for games at all.
What is the PlayStation Vita?
ftfy
What is the PlayStation Vita?
A play station 4 controller with a screen.

We're getting Splatoon 2 and I didn't even have to make a blood sacrifice~~ I wonder if we'll see a 3DS virtual console, or straight up backwards compatibility with it. There's no way there's backwards compatibility with the Wii U, but I can see it being possible with the 3DS.

uh oh

Does the combat entirety of Skyward Sword have more depth than Nidhogg's combat? Arguably. But not the directional mechanic alone.

But not the directional mechanic alone.
All the depth in the world in your combat system doesn't mean much if the implementation is incredibly shallow. Could you create very in-depth combat with Skyward Sword's combat system? Yes. Did they? Not at all.
What is the PlayStation Vita? (Granted this will probably have a far larger library and Nintendo won't squander ALL of its potential like Sony)
I have a Vita. But it's not like the Switch. Also I only play PS1 and PS2 classics on it.
i know the video wasn't 60fps but some of the gameplay (specifically the zelda on the tablet) looked really choppy. [editline]21st October 2016[/editline] i wonder if the little side controllers have motion controls
looks great when you really have nothing better to do than play videogames child me would've been thrilled for this
wii u had youtube and netflix. It'd be pretty damn nice to be able to carry this around and watch stuff in bed [editline]21st October 2016[/editline]
I'm not really sold on the entire "take the game with you" idea. It certainly makes it easier to bring it to, say, friends and play with them. But I wouldn't want to play Zelda on a such a small screen. Oh, well.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/2FhUIzs.png[/t] what the shit is this????? not even 10 seconds in dude
what the shit is this????? not even 10 seconds in dude
And where exactly in my post did I state that you have to play it that way? It's still their USP.
And where exactly in my post did I state that you have to play it that way? It's still their USP.
lets be fair though, its a USP that's far better off than current consoles, even if its one that weakens it as a home-only-no-dismount console like, microsoft thinks they can make the xbox a PC but with games only and also TV stuff, what the fuck are they doing :v: [editline]21st October 2016[/editline] They even called it the xbox "ONE" to imply it was the "ONE" and only device the home needed (aka a box for TV games and everything) and then there is the ps4. Both the ps4 and xbone are trying to get out of the generation and console business as generational consoles. It's scary. wiiu was just silly
I am so SO glad the controler didn't turn out to be this touchscreen abomination [t]https://cdn1.tnwcdn.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2016/03/Nintendo-NX-Controller-Leak-2.jpg[/t]
All I can think about is how the next Pokemon is going to be on a console...
All I can think about is how the next Pokemon is going to be on a console...
Yeah, can't wait for Sun and Moon for 3DS.
