Did you guys ever do the mission where you need to escort the royal children's nanny through the forest? Now that one was fucking hard because I destroyed an endrega nest while escorting her so I needed to protect her and massacre all the endrega. It was really hard because she was actually really far behind me when I decided to do it
if she was far behind you wouldn't that mean she's out of the way and not going to get herself killed?
if she was far behind you wouldn't that mean she's out of the way and not going to get herself killed?
No, she was right at where the Queen Endrega would decloak. You wouldn't believe how hard it was to run back there in time and saturate the area in Dragon's Dream then hit it with igni before they had time to kill her
Is it worth playing the prior two games? I'm intrigued by all the hype surrounding it.

It is very worth it.

Yes. The first game is unique, and I would say it isn't as easy to get into as the second one. But everything you could complain about in the first game is perfected in the second. And the story is fascinating, in my opinion at least.

Is the combat any good? The trailer made it look a bit like Two Worlds combat wise, and that game had some abomination tier combat.
Can't recommend the Witcher 2 more. Genuinely one of the best RPG's ever made. The combat for the first third of the game is dull and boss fights feel out of place but everything else is amazing.
The Witcher 1 is more of a hard sell. It's not terrible, but it's not particularly great either.

Might give them a go when a steam sale goes up. That's why I love steam sales, they give me a chance to try games I otherwise wouldn't.
I hope the sword combat is a lot better than in Witcher 2, I thought it was pretty shallow. If you were either timing attacks carefully or button mashing didn't seem to make much of a difference, unlike the first game.
Regardless, really looking forward to this game.
honestly, even if witcher 2's combat was shallow when you got down to it, it was a lot better than most rpg combat these days (with the exception of dark souls)

the witcher 2 has been on sale a stupid amount of times, i'm honestly surprised you haven't picked it up.
despite its flaws, it's great and definitely worth $5 (hell, it's worth $20)
also woo, 6000th post

You don't need to play TW1 to understand TW2 but you should play it anyways for the story and the type of world that's set up because it really is a unique fantasy setting
play it on anything above normal boyo
I completed it on the hardest difficulty with 10fps constant
IN 1024x768.
I played on hard, or whatever the difficulty one above normal is, and I was so tired of the combat by act 3 that I just kind of stopped playing.
if they rework the terrible combat system i'll probably get this
a dark souls type combat system would be amazing
Is the combat any good? The trailer made it look a bit like Two Worlds combat wise, and that game had some abomination tier combat.
I don't know about Two Worlds, but to be honest the combat in the first is weird. There are three different "modes" you can be in: strong, fast, and group. Depending on the situation and the enemy you fight you need to be in the correct mode to do the most damage, and you also need to bear in mind whether you are using a silver sword or an iron one, because iron is effective against humanoids and silver is effective against "supernatural" creatures.
It takes some getting used to at first, but by the mid-point of the game you should have figured out the quirks. I made it nearly half way through the game before I really understood the combat, and as soon as it dawned on me, the combat got a lot easier. Just don't get too used to it. The second game simplifies it a lot, which is a good thing.
If you've ever seen Game of Thrones, the story is laid out in a comparable way. The plot deals a lot with politics and the fantastical intricies that are unique to the Witcher's world, much like GoT does to its own world, which is why I love both so much. And if you've ever played Metal Gear Solid, Geralt's character is similar to Snake's. He always has deep, insightful opinions of the wars and struggles that occur in the game, and he even gets into philsophical arguments with other characters on occasion, which are always fun to listen to. If that sounds like something that could even possibly appeal to you, get it as soon as you see it go on sale.
I liked the dialogue in the 2nd one. Especially, for example, at the beginning "Very funny" turns out to be "Fuck you"
hngngngngngng
hunting the wild hunt is going to be so fucking awesome

also i wonder if nilfgaard has taken over completely by this point, seems like its a decent amount of time after the last game
Video has been deleted by this user :C
Anyway if they're stopping at The Witcher 3 I hope they come up with something other amazing game series they can work on, these devs are absolutely fantastic.

they already are

also it wouldn't be impossible for them to make more witcher games, there's tons more geralt has done, i mean they probably won't but just saying
wait that game shares the same developers? Wow, why have I not been paying attention to that game
I think they said that Witcher 3 will be their last chapter for Geralt but I think they hinted they might do another game with different character in the same world.

I always like an RPG with a deeper story, is there much exploration or is it more like Dragon Age Origins where its more just locations to do missions?

There is exploration for sure, but not on a geographical grand scale, it's closer to Dragon Age Origins to that but there is still much more exploration on the actual locations.

Geralt of Rivia is a master swordsman whom has been trained to be really quick and agile with a sword
The slow and clumsy combat in Dark Souls would not work very well at all...
Looks pretty darn sweet!

The music from the trailer

The Witcher games always had bitchin music. Can't wait to get the W3 soundtrack.
One thing I've loved about the witcher games is the art direction. It has the right balance between authenticity and fantasy, it's pretty unique.

Just made me notice the realtime fur simulation early in the video.
Holy shit that really feels immerse and massive, it really brings it out as something authentic, the horizon line seems really far, it's like a painting.
