Just click and hold the material editor button, then you can choose to use the old editor.

No, unless you explain what your avatar is about.
I got renderman in my lab, but I want it on my PC!!! :(
Now that I've used it, I want it! lol
What is used cannot be unused!
This year? I've seen it before this Halloween
I made it in Sep. 2010, so yeah, an yearly prep :p
For those who use it or have used it, does Vray for C4D work well? I wanted to try it at some point but I heard it's rather buggy. Just wanted to double check.

I have been using it for a while, works like a charm.
So did anyone actually get their hands on ce3 sdk?

Our lawyers were given the correct documents over a month ago. Haven't heard anything yet, plus my teacher has been on vacation the last 3 weeks. Perhaps I get some good news when he returns next week. :)
I hope CE3 and UE3 can open low level programming to education :/

i think you mean high level?
i think you mean high level?
I want to have C++ access, so no, I do want low level programming access.
High level programming for UE3 is already free, as long as you are not planning on selling it.
However, if you want to implement new AI, you will either need to over-write classes (big no for stability), or do dll linking, which is cumbersome.
I think I am done with her dress:

Just need to change her hair texture
She should be blond btw :x
ugugug imageshack always loads so poorly when I click on pictures
Anyway, I've got a bit of stuff I think could help.
You should go back and look at really pulling of the material definitions. Try to get blended normals or some kind of SS on the skin. It really helps to pull off skin because it gives the look of translucency. As for the cloth, the normals are okay (nothing amazing but they'll work) but you need to lighten up on them. You need a lot more control over your normals, and I'd also suggest detail normals and a proper specular for everything. Right now the textures are muddy and detail normals and specular added will really make it shine (hurr durr pun).
Sharpen up the seams between the gold and the red, and take some of the colour variation out of the cloth texture. Leave that up to the spec/norms. They'll do a lot better job than any noise will. The hair needs some sharpening up and a good spec. Thin it out where it ends because right now it looks like someone just chopped it off where it fades out.
I'm awaiting everyone to tell me I shouldn't critique because it has never been welcomed in this thread.
I appreciate your critiques :]
Getting critiques is the only way to get better.
I agree that I need to polish up the maps.
I'll look into your comments and try to apply them next week.
Thank you!
np bro and if I came off harsh don't take it the wrong way
Unless you use offensive wordings, or I won't take anything as harsh :p
Yay, finished another version with a simple yellow/orange material.

The scale of the neck is wrong. On my guitar the ratio of the biggest fret to smallest fret is 5:2 but on yours it is only 5:1. This isn't exactly accurate seeing as they are two different guitars but it gives you a rough idea of how off it is. while some guitars are on a 23.5" scale and some on a 25" scale they are all relatively similar.
If you want to get really exact here is a quick cheat sheet for a 24.625" fret scale.

I don't play billiard so the balls are in wrong order. :frown:
Black should be where the whole orange is, otherwise I'm p sure it's fine!

Right now they're in numeric order.

Is that a plane light I see? It doesn't go well with hdri

Looks a lot better with it. I tried.
It looks really out of place, atleast try to use round shape so it might come off as a fake shine.
2 & 4 look funcky.
11 looks fake.
The material looks like car paint, not like a billiards ball.
Finally finished my study room render, this is how it turned out:

where did you find the wood textures you used? Nice render btw.
