My GPU render is actually slower than CPU render. Might have something to do with my crappy old graphic card.
I found that my old scenes rendered a lot slower with v2 than 1.5. Hope this will get fixed in a hotfix. (Btw, the 2.00.02 update fixed a lot of bugs, incase you didn't see it.)
6870HD should arrive tomorrow, can't wait to do some GPU rendering with that!
Oh, a patch already, i gotta check that out.
Isn't that obvious?
I'm sorry you didn't read my sarcasm. I blame the internet!
Does anyone here have any experience with getting external renderers to work with Blender on a Linux OS? On Ubuntu, I've only gotten Yafaray to work, but it goes terribly slow. Indigo works fine, but the Blendigo exporter doesn't.
Try LuxRender + SmallLuxGPU.
It seems you can run the Vray RT on GPU mode, only if you have nVidia card, wow that's gay i hope they add AMD support as well.
V-Ray RT for GPU is based on OpenCL (see the references section below for more info on OpenCL), and as such should be able to run on any OpenCL-compatible hardware.
However, as of the time of this writing (September 6th 2010), only the nVidia implementation of OpenCL is sufficiently advanced to run it properly. For best results, a Fermi-based card
with at least 1 GB of video RAM is recommended. Older cards will work, but performance will be significantly worse.
So i looked at AMD's website for specifications and my 4870 doesn't support OpenCL but the 6870 does, awesome. Fuck you nVidia.
Deciding between a new one I made or the old one

It's funny because AMD were boasting about using OpenCL.

Please show results. I have a fairly modern Nvidea card, and I'm pondering about getting Vray 2.0, and the RT renderer.

i didn't get it to render with the GPU even though my card support OpenCL and i downloaded the OpenCL drivers. So hopefully the support for amd cards will be released soon, or better OpenCL drivers to support Vray. :frown:
Crysis runs an average of 10 fps more than before though. :3:

Second one is perfect, maybe make it a little lighter blue though.
Changed to the new Avatar, The Refraction came out really cool, It's actually completely transparent, All Refraction, Slight reflection and Displacement.
Doesn't look like water mainly because It's too globular. Other than that it needs to refract.
Why is it blue? Water is not blue. Water is blue only if it's outside where it can reflect blue sky or if it has shit in it. Normal water is not blue.
Looks like hydrophilic, viscous fluid on hydrophobic surface :/

My 9800GTX+ just died and I'm thinking about switching over to Radeon.
Though because I've never used them I dont know what I should get for my money (about $450).
Any suggestions?
