After 3 hours of animation, my girlfriend suggested changing, and correcting some stuff on my spider mesh..
I did, but after I realised that I overwrote the old save file, and the autobackup files were to new, I managed to fuck everything up... The new mesh wouldn't sit correctly on the bones, and other stuff...
Gotta animate the walk again... But taking a break now, gonna do the animation on sunday, instead of today.
Making a room btw.

It's from the previous school assignment, but I never managed to meet the deadline, so I'm continuing working on the last few stuff, before turning it in together with the third assignment we'll get.
Right now I've enabled fur on carpets, and texture, rendering it out as I write, and I will post it here when it's done :)
Everything is polymodeling, including the blanket on the couch.
The term was photo realism.

What the fuck man, I overlaid the reference and your image in photoshop and it matches almost 1:1
Great work

Like I said, the goal of the assignment was photo realism, and recreating the image as close as possible. ;)
I like how even the shadows match.
Oh my god, look at that, looks perfect...
Great job !
Decided to try to make phonemes with morph targets, he's saying "no, what?"
Eh I am not sure if it's good but this is just practice.

Also made a breathing animation

Now I'm animating his face saying "don't struggle honey" (Eli Vance quote)

it looks great, but the light source should be bigger so the shadows are super soft like the reference.
Seems like he's saying "No, why" and his mouth on the second word is opening too much.
The breathing animation is really nice, but he seems to be out of breath. It would be good if someone was exhausted, but not as an idle breathing animation.
The mouth looks really square and jutting out at one point. During the "a" I think.
Yeah I overdid the opening part.

Yep, I made the breathe a deep one to see how it animated easier.
Ugh, Don't use total video converter.
Use SUPER It's much better and if you're using it to compile the animation from images use VirtualDub.
I just downloaded it to convert it to a gif, since aftereffects can't save as GIF.

Oh man. That is incredible, IKEA is the best.
Guys give me ideas for beginner video tutorial lessons. I got tired of people asking for the basics explained so I thought up this video tutorial series. Oh and I'm using 3dsMax but most of what I've been going through should apply to nearly all programs. I'm doing mostly techniques and methods, not program specifics.
I got some covered already; setting up reference behind the model, plane/polygon modeling, using smoothing groups correctly, some quick model optimizing (going over tris and quads and stuff), and basic planar unwrapping to come.
If you can make something and then film it from the beginning to the end, just to see your work-flow, and to discuss the way how you make certain details, I'd definitely watch it.
Oh my god, look at that, looks perfect...

Did the original image get removed or is this a joke because all I see is the reference?

Agreed.
I'm still new to modeling and I pick up a lot more concepts and familiarize more when basically just watch someone make something.
@Ajacks: you mean this? http://filesmelt.com/dl/Finalrender.png

See it showed up now, lol. Looks great.
I don't really like to reveal work in progress shots but this is just too awesome.

Did you happen to take a triangulated mesh and smooth it?

To all of you, thanks :)
I put on a render before I went to bed six hours ago, and woke up just now and notice I rendered from top view, not from camera -_-
Anyway, the light source is actually a little bit too big, compare the shadow of the chair on my picture, to the reference, it's to big.
When making the image I went to IKEA.com (ofcourse) and got all the needed lenghts and stuff in cm.
but things looked of, whatever I tried, things wouldn't match, even after I matched the camera angle and lens properties... it is wrong parameters on the wideangle lense, so I suspect they took the image with a somewhat bent lens.
Like the plastic chair in the picture.. It's supposed to be matching the reference of the plastic chair, and everything, but didn't fit the main reference :-/

As of now there's something obvious wrong with the mesh, but the details in the front looks right

There's something.. not right about the lipsync, like you're missing out on a few vocals...
And I guess you notice it aswell, but when the eyelids open, they go a little to further up then they should :)
I like the mesh though, is it Zbrush?

Uh, no?
No I made it in Wings3D :)
Seems interesting :)
Trying to render just the fur on my carpets.

Just modify it with the barrel distortion lens correction in photoshop to emulate the lens distortion if max/vray can't (I assume it can though)

But wouldn't things look extremly odd, since I've made adjustments to the geometry on most objects to fit the "wide-angle"?
But I can check it out after I've got this render out, which will take about an hour, atleast.
My room is 79300 polyes btw :P

Making something from start to finish would take several hours. Unless I speed it up and narrate on top of it. Hmm...
