We are getting trolled hard here
Different fabrics have different thread patterns.
They do. But some share similar patterns... and some don't. For example, I have two bdu jackets. One is the cold weather cotton twill, and the other, cotton poplin. here's a texture sample from both: http://postimage.org/image/1npxs9kw4/ now that's not stopping a spandex, cotton, or polyester shirt from having different or similar patterns... the point is whatever pattern you choose doesn't really represent the majority of t shirts, which share the pattern I posted earlier.
I can try, don't know how good of detail you can get. Picture a really skinny ladder, but all of the rungs are slanted. Meh, all you see are threads vertically going down in the picture.
i think i know what you are talking about.
We are getting trolled hard here
maybe, people are just defensive sometimes. I wouldn't be surprised though. It's alright, i think it's pretty clear what the pic i posted is supposed to represent.

BTW your models have vagualy high polygon count but don't look nearly as detailed as the poly count makes it seem, so you're probably making some inefficient models. SHow wireframe, thanks.

It doesn't help you're rude to us for it as well. Well, of course we can't stop you, but it just doesn't quite make sense. w/o shit i didnt make (the rest was weapons used for the render, made by the game devs so you can model stuff to them and whatnot) coming out at 6000
That really is sloppy. The shoulders are also modeled wrong. Shouldn't just be extruded out like cake icing.
That really is sloppy. THe shoulder are also modeled wrong.
the shoulder is fine. It is proportionate to the game skeleton, and other game models (made by the devs). If i modeled it differently the animations would throw a fit. Weighting is not an easy task in the provided programs
What program what that be? Turd3d? Snark/sarcasm aside...
What program what that be? Turd3d?
Oxygen 2 PE (Personal edition) by Bohemia Interactive Studios.
holy fuck stop please
Oxygen 2 PE (Personal edition) by Bohemia Interactive Studios.
I've never heard of that. Anyways, all snark/sarcasm aside. I think the fabric that the shirt I made is made of would be a matte polyester. left to right cotton, cotton/spandex aka underwear, cotton, cotton socks, polyester. (polyester section isn't to scale, the polyester scan is lower DPI) all sections are about 1cmx1cm of the fabric. Except for the polyester which is like 1.8cm. Can you do this in 3dsmax without taking 500 steps? If so, how? Then I can finally have no use for wings3D anymore. You can unwrap anything in seconds.
just make the seams in max and then relax the islands Also that's not a good method of unwrapping for everything.
What would it not be good for? I can't think of anything. How do you make seams?
i think this is what he means: http://postimage.org/image/1os5rebr8/ as you can see that polygon can be joined with the rest by only one edge, creating a UV seam that changes depending on which side you place it on. Although this is probably obvious.. (?)
3ds Max has 'unfold mapping' which does that. Though, for clothing I think I'd use Pelt.
Since everyone insisted I make my shirt with cotton and not polyester.. I modeled a 1 square inch piece of cotton fabric with splines.. I wonder how many polygons an entire sock would need. Also made a disp/bump with it, you can use it if you like http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/492/1381million.jpg
Hi guys i'm fairly new to modelling, this is my very first project!
YOU MADE THAT AS YOUR FIRST PROJECT?! I quit 3D.
YOU MADE THAT AS YOUR FIRST PROJECT?! I quit 3D.
agreed, im out. Better luck in music making i guess
Don't quit guys... I love you!
It's pretty basic, the lighting makes it seem 100x better than it is.
It's pretty basic, the lighting makes it seem 100x better than it is.
Yeah, I do like the lighting!
It's pretty basic, the lighting makes it seem 100x better than it is.
You really love cutting people down, don't you?
You got a problem with stating facts? I wasn't even saying it was bad. P-p-p-piss off.
You got a problem with stating facts?
They weren't necessary
im sure by first project he means first thing he did from his ideas, as in not following a tutorial. otherwise :suicide: [editline]18th February 2011[/editline]
It's pretty basic, the lighting makes it seem 100x better than it is.
way to be constructive. you could have been like, "yo add more details, a few peices of broken roof where the hole is and stuff like that." but nooooo. [editline]18th February 2011[/editline] also the pillars should be more defined, it looks like they are turbosmoothed or something
They weren't necessary
Why are you even gold?

Everything else I did by myself (I experiment ALLOT) For the smoothing, I was using hypernurbs. (Looks really ugly now that you mentioned it) Also this scene was inspired by the Guild Wars game! [img_thumb]http://www.mpogd.com/images/news/2538/4.jpg[/img_thumb] I wish I could make my own textures and UV map the things I make... Any good tutorials for cinema 4D?
Why are you even gold?
I told you once already
