While I was bored waiting for some water simulation to finish, I quickly rendered this whilst setting up a scene. I love caustics, especially volumetric caustics. :buddy: This is nothing serious though. I should've increased the subdivs on the fog, but eh...
make an ant model and put it in the focused light :buddy:
great idea.
Oh my god it's COTTON! Hopefully 209,600x209,600 bump map is high res enough to sate your cotton cravings.
This is what teapots will look like in the future of video games.
I sure hope so. :v:
Really obvious tiling on the texture.
By the time one square is done rendering on the bottle itself, 74 squares is done rendered elswhere XD And finally, the bottle itself is done.. After 6 hour render minimum... Here's the image at 50% render. BTW, I'm not gonna worry about fixing the DOF, although it's far too thick... http://filesmelt.com/dl/sofar1.png When the render is done, I'm gonna fix the bubles, give the cola (itself) some more refraction, and render just the bottle. BTW, don't mind the other lowpoly objects, they're ment for another camera-angle, I just used the same scene to get some objects into it.
Why is it taking so long to render? Pentium 1 processor?
FG bounces = 4, Refraction and reflection = 1, Final Gather set to Draft 1920x1080 resolution, some heavy material, using Bokeh DOF, two Mental Ray omnias with 4 cm in diameter, using Mental Ray. Rendering with an AMD Phenom II x6 processor (six physical cores) @ 3.2 Ghz. The only thing that slows down the render, is the bottle itself.. Right now it's at 53%

I like the other one, did you use some kind of reflection map ?
:smug: Also that ice (I guess that's what it is) looks bad.
It looks like shit... Wait, it doesn't look like shit, my shit looks better then that, my shit looks like gold compared to this
When the render is done, I'm gonna fix the bubles, give the cola (itself) some more refraction, and render just the bottle.
:P I ment the water drops. 55% done Any suggestion on how to make the water-drops look more realistic? I'm gonna try to shut off the reflection, only using refraction and turning up the gloss..
Any suggestion on how to make the water-drops look more realistic?
Make them more transparent.
In the last one, the "main" lights reflecting looks weird. I like the other one, did you use some kind of reflection map ?
It has may sorts of maps.
Make them more transparent.
FYI: They are completely transparent... I'm using Raytrace as refraction. 57.4% done
That's basically oil or some other thick substance. That is exactly what it looks like. Just because you rate me disagree doesn't make the truth any different. Maybe if the bubbles were coming from the straw and not magically suspended in the oil or soap it would look more like water. Not to mention the way the bubbles are spread out. Water does not work that way. Is there any way I can make some kind of dynamic texture that is white nearby and goes black? Like some kind of depth map..
I rated disagree because I have different opinion. That is not a reason to rate me dumb. I know the bubbles are misplaced and doesn't look natural.
Why mention about the x6 having 6 physical cores when that's all AMD processors can have, they don't have Intel hyperthreading-like tech.
Don't get carried away by Hyperthreading, A four core Intel with Hyperthreading, is actually just a two physical cores on the CPU, where the cores are split in half giving you four cores, and then the driver splits the cores in half again, kinda.. I don't know how a six core Intel works though... But I would imagine something equal.. [editline]19th February 2011[/editline] And now, I'm done with the overall render, currently fixing the condense..

um.. I turned of the reflection.. and suddently the drops arn't visable XD
Yeah.. Rate me dumb... Wtf? I just read that I wrote wrong..
FG bounces = 4, Refraction and reflection = 1, Final Gather set to Draft 1920x1080 resolution, some heavy material, using Bokeh DOF, two Mental Ray omnias with 4 cm in diameter, using Mental Ray.
I meant to write "Refraction and Reflection = 10"
[img_thumb]http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/6764/metalmtl.jpg[/img_thumb] It has may sorts of maps.
Oh, nice, it is a bit like the way I expected. Thanks.

That's why I fix them... Right now they look nice. But it takes shitlong to render... So stand by... Have my 'first thing I did in 3Ds max' :D It's at 67.2%, and have been rendering for six hours.
Are you saying it uses 209k bump map? Uh, kinda hard to believe tbh
Doesn't it look that high to you?
Maybe higher bump values? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF My cat managed to cancel my render -_-
It's at 67.2%, and have been rendering for six hours.
It really sounds like you need to optimize your render settings, as that rendertime sounds weird for a scene like that. [editline]20th February 2011[/editline] In other news, I'll be posting a 300K particle water simulation later on.
