This is how the scene looks in Max.. Gonna have to render it all out all over again, since region render fucked up..
Condensation looks really bad. The water seems too dense.
Smoothing groups.. use em. Also the water looks like styrofoam crumbs.
Yeah, the water beads are far too dense, and a bit too large. Shoot for this, more transparent, thinner drops.

BTW, here you can clearly see that he's been using the same mesh for the drops..
Smoothing groups.. use em. I don't know if it helps because it's Blender but have a look at this: http://www.blenderguru.com/create-an-eye-catching-energy-drink-advertisement/
Reminds me of the energy drink "Burn": [img_thumb]http://www.globalpackagegallery.com/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=62570&g2_serialNumber=2[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://www.alice-dsl.net/tankstelle-heute/OTS_Burn-energy-drink.jpg[/img_thumb] Which is basically strawberry soda. I like the simplistic illustration on it, in comparison to other energy drinks such as Urge Intense etc.

Progress on the simulation: I'll be rendering it all with pretty high quality caustics. So, what will basically happen is that three spheres of water will come falling down one after one. This is the part where the first sphere has just hit.
here is my L-System
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819105272
LEARN_TO_READ. They don't have Hyperthreading, so there's no need to mention that they have 6 physical cores because they can only have physical cores.
Don't get carried away by Hyperthreading, A four core Intel with Hyperthreading, is actually just a two physical cores on the CPU, where the cores are split in half giving you four cores, and then the driver splits the cores in half again, kinda.. I don't know how a six core Intel works though... But I would imagine something equal.. [editline]19th February 2011[/editline] And now, I'm done with the overall render, currently fixing the condense..
Actually it's when each core runs two threads, it's almost like having double the physical cores.
Actually it's when each core runs two threads, it's almost like having double the physical cores.
I have a hyperthreaded i7 920 myself, but I'm not quite sure why doubling the amount of threads increases the performance when the amount of physical cores is left unchanged Any easy explanation?
The advantages of hyper-threading are listed as: improved support for multi-threaded code, allowing multiple threads to run simultaneously, improved reaction and response time.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyper-threading
it is only faster if a single thread cannot use 100% of a core which happens quite often
I don't know if it helps because it's Blender but have a look at this: http://www.blenderguru.com/create-an-eye-catching-energy-drink-advertisement/
Really nice, and yes. It's somewhat what I followed, although I use blobmesh for my drops, therefor none of the drops will overlap, but turn into bigger drops.. I tried to fix this as good as possible, but I'm gonna tweak it a little more. Like I said earlier, a four core Intel is physically just two cores, but split in half... a three GHz quad-core, is actually a six GHz dual-core.. And with the quad-core they added hyper-threading, and WAWOOM it's like you have 8 cores in windows..
double post got ninja'd
6 physical cores when that's all AMD processors can have
[editline]20th February 2011[/editline]
LEARN_TO_READ. If you had written "6 cores is all a 6 core AMD processor can have" you would have a point.
[editline]20th February 2011[/editline] Learn to write. If you had written "6 cores is all a 6 core AMD processor can have" you would have a point.
Do you not understand English? You're the only person having trouble.
Stop fighting... Seriously.. More teapots.
Do you not understand English? You're the only person having trouble.
You wrote "6 physical cores when that's all amd processors can have" Amd processors can have more than 6 physical cores so you're wrong. Write more carefuly :)
BTW, missread this post:
Smoothing groups.. use em. Also the water looks like styrofoam crumbs.
The objects in the background are all quite low-poly, with smoothing-groups.. The foreground elements (the ones that were made for it) are using mesh-smoothing = The Cola bottle itself (obviously), the cap, Cola juice, the apple , plate, remote, and the iPhone. Also, the water looks really funky, but I fixed it.. Again.. :P
You wrote "6 physical cores when that's all amd processors can have" Amd processors can have more than 6 physical cores so you're wrong. Write more carefuly :)
Physical.
That processor I showed you has 12 physical cores, you lose.
That processor I showed you has 12 physical cores, you lose.
Take the hint. What I said isn't anything to do with how many cores it has, it's that they can only be physical.
Baaah, you're both acting like eight year olds, fighting over whose dad's the strongest.. Although the topic is different, it's the same kind of fight..
Baaah, you're both acting like eight year olds, fighting over whose dad's the strongest..
No. "Why mention about the x6 having 6 physical cores when that's all AMD processors can have, they don't have Intel hyperthreading-like tech." The x6 has 6 cores, why mention them being "6 physical cores" when AMD only have physical cores.
was that directed towards me? I wrote x6 because I wouldn't want someone to get confuse by the name of the CPU-model, if I'm not misstaken the Phenom II x6 is the name of the series, not really directed towards the number or cores, although for the ones that know what type of CPU it is, it makes sense... But... If thit's what started it all, Just a "typo", then please drink some fresh cold water, go outside and breathe some fresh air, and read a book....

The processor model is Phenom 2, the amount of cores is 6 because of x6. It doesn't apply to all the amd processors but any with "x--" generally means the number of cores.
Can't you guys take this HT argument else where?
You don't get it do you? What you said means both things. I'm arguing semantics on purpose, take a joke you prude.
