I'd like to 3D Model, what applications and tutorials are good for someone who's never tried?
Fast Strike Vehicle?
Yus. Doesn't the picture show up for you? http://www.militarypictures.info/d/1527-2/light-strike.jpg http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l189/KORNET-E/2-32.jpg
Not really a car I'd like to model. I'd like to model a civilian's car.
This is going to be extremely fun.
I'd like to 3D Model, what applications and tutorials are good for someone who's never tried?
I'm in the same boat as you, I touched on 3d modelling whilst i was at university but we didn't go into it deep enough, also the programs we used cost a bucket full of cash. Does anyone have any recommendations? for a couple of newbies looking to get their hands dirty?
Did you concider the free Blender?
Did you concider the free Blender?
I had never heard of it, I'll look into it, thanks. Also, are there any tutorials you would recommend?
Not me personally, as I use Cinema4D (which isn't free). The official site of Blender has forums which should provide some links to tuts, I think.

[img_thumb]http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/4561/rens.png[/img_thumb] Today's work, decided to go about buildings with a modular system to increase quality consistency and smooth out work flow. The windows will have about a 30-50% reflection to add veriety. I opted for that over using an array of 5-8 of my window textures (with different things like curtains, shades) because say I have a building with 20 windows side by side, the repetition of the same six textures will be more apparent than a single cleaner window texture repeated along the same set of windows (once reflections are taken into account). Nearer to ground level I think I'll be using an array of window textures combined with the reflection when I don't have a massive line of windows that will be repeating. Also I can quickly modify the set of window trim textures to suite the building style I am working on. This project is surprisingly taxing on ones problem solving thoughts.

I've decided to start visiting this thread again <3 Mostly because I'm going to be doing a lot of 3dsmax over the summer, in hopes to get a job involving it, and to prepare for college next year.
Some more Ford Cortina progress, almost finished. Haven't touched it for about a week so I got to get back into it. Started out as a replicate of the Life on Mars car, but I built on that and added more components, colour changes and some other tweaks. Working on a black/yellow version of the Nemesis because it looked mean, here's that so far.
Fuck yeah Motorstorm again! :buddy:
Awesome, do show more. :allears:
Why sure, here are some with a very simple yet effective addition of the little...pane things (blanking on the actual name for them) [img_thumb]http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/3555/sdasddsd.png[/img_thumb] Again, nothing spectactular but as a whole, I think this is going the right direction. Who knows, maybe by this time next year I'll cruising on a Ducati Monster from this project -_- a man can dream.
Oh, i just remembered the steam group we have. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/3Dart Maybe put it in the OP? And that reminds me i gotta update the thread link in the group.

Those golden rims are a bit odd, gold isn't really that yellow. But apart from that it looks good.
It's meant to be yellow as well, but I messed it up because of the reflectivity. Thanks.
Yeah it'd look better in matte
this is amazing work.... by Dark-Energy in v4 of this thread. @Dark-Energy, if you can post a larger version here, it would be nice! (pm doesnt seem to be working :S)
Anyone here have skills with UnrealEd? I'm using Unreal2004 so it's the old editor not UnrealEd 3. I'm trying to get animation stuff working.
You seriously quoted the whole opening post just to say "Nice." ?
I'm pretty sure his intent was to spam.
I've reported him. Ajacks, would you mind please getting a few pictures of stuff like streets and roads? I would really, really appreciate it as I would like to make some modern city textures. Thanks in advance
You seriously quoted the whole opening post just to say "Nice." ?
He has replied in most topics with 1 or 2 words. Pretty sure he is just +1'ing.
