It worked, thanks.
Started working on a Wii-Remote today.
make the speaker holes have depth
They do have depth. I just did a quick render and didn't setup a light source in XSI. I might do a better render tomorrow when I'm starting to work on the back part.
That's a nice work actually. You're not too good at Tetris though. :v:
:v: I had to be intentionally bad though! If I wasn't then my blocks would keep disappearing, and that's bad for my health
The transition between maya and 3ds max isn't so bad. I started with Max and switched to Maya, and it was pretty smooth. Once you understand the principles or modelling and rendering etc, learning the nuances of a new program is no big deal.
how do you find Maya compared to Max? I've always though of switching to maya.
I've made leaps and bounds in figuring out effective and expedient texturing practices for buildings. Contrary to what you'd think it hasn't been all that simple. Also I'm enjoying my paid CGTexutures account and my paid Photobucket Pro account, well worth the money.
damned that looks hot, what was the program you used again?
damned that looks hot, what was the program you used again?
3DS Max 2011.
Sunscreen thingy doesn't look very good. :o
Sunscreen thingy doesn't look very good. :o
Maroon Awning? I think I'll change the smoothing groups so it doesn't look to....smooth. The sections need to have sharp edges. Mind you this building is still a work in progress. Aside from the smoothing though there really isn't anything else to change, it's not really a filthy building so the cleanliness of it is fitting. Fixed the issue and updated the picture.
Sunscreen thingy doesn't look very good. :o
To compensate this, I've made some more StarCraft art! :flashfap: It's a good wallpaper though.
Whats the best way to model complex curved things? say, a blimp
Made a ParticleFlow simulated tree! Blocky, indeed, but that's what looked the best without killing my computer.
 More renders, different materials, no shields, so on: http://imgur.com/FyPo8.png http://imgur.com/qlQZ3.png http://imgur.com/FMLaf.png http://imgur.com/t5pWA.png http://imgur.com/HN8e8.png http://imgur.com/YDSMv.png
So today I have been working on a TF2 hat based on a hat from Timesplitters 2, had to fire up the game in order to get some references. Here's what I have so far at least: Constructive criticism is welcome.
zBrush post
You are doing it wrong :v: But looks cool nonetheless.
Whats the best way to model complex curved things? say, a blimp
Usually, but not always, NURBS are a good starting point for modeling curvy surfaces. For example the body of a blimp would be made using a lathe or revolve operation, depending on the program. Polygons can be used, but are generally less flexible unless you really know what you're doing, so look into your programs curve and Nurbs support. If it has it at all.
so I'm finally back from Ukraine, and I wanted to model something, but instead windows decides to cockslap me with a Disk Read Error. So I'm like fuck it, took out my 500GB windows disk, threw it in a box, I got that spare 1TB HDD just gathering dust in my closet (bought two of em for 65$ a pop, couldn't resist), and put that in the 500GB's place then installed Win7. So, I'm now redownloading 3dsMax 2010, I lost all my programs, my settings and setup, all saves in all games etc etc but my windows partition gained 500GB. Not fucking worth it I tell you. I tried to look up ways to fix it w/o doing that but found nothing other then that fixing it is a cluster fuck and that there isn't actually a major problem causing it, that it's some BS about the mobo not talking nice to the HDD or some shit.
Just doing some simple very low poly potted plants to load up on racks to put out front of the building. Yes, school art contest coming up. Of course I'll be using my 3D Lineup of software, 3ds max, maya and an XSI Trial, Good time for me to try that out. [editline]03:38PM[/editline]
[img_thumb]http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a345/ajackss/yeahyeahitsawip.png?t=1280869087[/img_thumb] I've made leaps and bounds in figuring out effective and expedient texturing practices for buildings. Just looks to fake. Other than that it's fucking excellent man.

I don't see why they would be planes considering your previous work, but I still think the option should be included. Also, the awnings on your buildings look a bit bland -- almost like they lack texture.

Nothing lazy about planes, it's just a necessity. About the issues raised, good points and I'll see if I can incorporate some fixes and changes and still stay within my parameters. I need some sleep though, damn it's 2:22am and I've got to be out of the house at 8am tomorrow. Wish me luck ;)

As my question implies, one cannot tell the difference. (I cannot, at least) Also, Good luck.
Progress on the Wii remote thing. I have to fix up a few things here and there, add the infrared thingy and the plugs on the back. But overall it looks good so far :)
