Max crashed again :(
chamfer edges plus diffuse plus normal map
figures.
How do i import more than one particle bin file into realflow? The program crashed after having simulated 1600 frames, but there hasn't been any changes since i started simulating and i should be able to load the saved particle data. Problem is that i can only load ONE file at a time, and I don't want to do this 1600 times. [editline]07:11AM[/editline] I have almost 100GB of simulation data that appears to be useless... :argh:
About 30k polys. So. Good? Bad? Terrible?
It's way too high poly for what it is. You have too many edgeloops on the wireframe and adjusting them manually makes the car look bumpy because there can be variation between small distances. Not only would lower poly car be easier to make and manage, the looks would probably be the same or even better, seeing as you learn poly distribution along the way. [editline]09:58AM[/editline]
Whats the best way to model complex curved things? say, a blimp
Plane modeling. Or in other words, taking a plane and starting extruding edges, moving the vertexes and repeating.

It should work just fine.
Well I did figure it out. The problem was that i didn't figure out how to import a sequence. So I thought I had to import them one by one.
what i'm currently working on. you only notice the crap after it's finished rendering. those ankles, and the color:argh:
The waist seems too thin and almost rectangular.
Posted in the Doctor Who thread, but thought you guys might find it interesting too. I finally got around to doing a test render for my Doctor Who title sequence in 3D. Still WIP, but I decided to redo most of it in Maya and add some shine to it in After Effects. I found it much easier to animate this way and I was able to make the vortex more of a pipe like it is on the real show instead of a straight line. Still need to work on the special effects like clouds and explosions, you can see throughout the video there are random effects placed around. These are mostly just me experimenting with Maya particles and fluids. Sorry about the low quality, but rendering all that in 720p takes all day. Remember most of the effects are just placeholders!
Would've watched it if my ISP allowed me to watch Youtube videos today.
:wtc: what country do you live in?
That's not related now is it? It's just the ISP being a lying greedy fuck and not allowing me to use Youtube every day by making it slower than a dead turtle.
Oh I thought it was censoring the whole site for you. And norway by the way, what's the big deal not telling? :saddowns:
Oh I thought it was censoring the whole site for you. And norway by the way, what's the big deal not telling? :saddowns:
There's nothing wrong with Norway, but when you tell people where you live, they may use it against you. Well, the only thing they can really say is "lol norway sucks derp".
Hey I've got something new in the works. I'll post it up shortly.
Retoast from the modelling pimpage thread.
I'm pretty happy with. I model so slow though; it's ridiculous. [editline]06:37PM[/editline] Almost finished: 2049 tris. [editline]06:38PM[/editline] It's a mac11 btw.

Plane modeling. Or in other words, taking a plane and starting extruding edges, moving the vertexes and repeating.
Real men still start with a single vertex. :v:
aaand it's ingame going to tune the colors a bit more and do the alpha channel
still a WIP. any major pointers? [img_thumb]http://www.pinballrebel.com/game/cola/vendo/vendo_83/vendo_83_g.jpg[/img_thumb] thats my reference
Learning how to model in blender 2.5, and I made myself this wine glass. Two problems, it has those stupid black lines around it, how can i get rid of that? And that image is a print screen of what i got from the F12 render window, because for some reason, even when i set the directory and file name i want to save it as, it won't save it. [editline]10:58PM[/editline] Oh, and, subsurfing. :iia:.

There's no textures on it at the moment, it's just whatever gets put onto it by default. [editline]11:18PM[/editline] I'm gonna ditch it and make something else anyway, it's nothing big.

[img_thumb]http://www.pinballrebel.com/game/cola/vendo/vendo_83/vendo_83_g.jpg[/img_thumb] thats my reference
most people have never seen those i think, but well made though, you got the correct shape, but the top corner needs some smoothing
I have no idea what could be causing it but you could try making the texture 2 sided... or something.
Probably polygons that are pushing through the other side. Check that they don't touch.
most people have never seen those i think, but well made though, you got the correct shape, but the top corner needs some smoothing
thanks! and yeah, I still need to do smoothing and deleting useless edges etc
Probably polygons that are pushing through the other side. Check that they don't touch.
If it's not this, check normals. They might be inverted or something
Got bored and tested to model a weapon, tought that uzi would be rather simple. Heres models highpolyversion base. Used about 4 hours to this, working tired is slow xD The base in the model would be 3034 tris if I dont optimize it and only delete the little scribble parts, well I think I will optimize it... yeah I forgot to make some parts to it... well maeby tomorrow... now to sleep -> [img_thumb]http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/219/0/7/Uzi_highpolybase_by_foldeath.jpg[/img_thumb] ps: the model has 10 064 tris :D
screws. rendering another one, with another different, yet still as shitty floor. [editline]11:23PM[/editline]
screws. rendering another one, with another different, yet still as shitty floor.
