I've been making some candles the last hour or so. I like the candle itself, but the candlestick looks odd. Any tips on what to change with the texture or mesh? I use 3ds max & Vray

I tried adding some liquid stearine at the top. Does it work?

yes but what the hell are you doing with the light setup?
I'm actually making quite good progress with blender, I started yesterday and I just made a really low poly basic human head. Albeit following a tutorial but I did it nonetheless. Hopefully soon I will have something to post here!

Half of these "mistakes" are silly and not mistakes at all

He's got terrible consistency with detail right now. Overly detailed areas where barely anything could suffice. The handle has tons of detail that does nothing to improve the silhouette for example. Microbevels are easy with normal maps, etc. etc.

Would I be able to get the same look as I have on the back of the fuselage, onto the wings somehow?
[img_thumb]http://3wagners.com/_Media/img_2553.JPG[/img_thumb]
That's how the wings look on those WWI aircraft, but one mine they look flat. Would I be able to fix that in the texturing with some bump-map or something?
i have already fixed the why and huh and what
the only ones i can really fix without meshing with the gun is the simplify and microchampfer and i think all the others are fine.
And also about the microbevel thing I took a look at l4d1 colt wire and i can say it's much more detailed than my gun. So yeah
holy shit huge image sorry
I'm just starting out with blender following these great tutorials, but following one I've got an issue. I delete the cube that is there when opening a new file, put in a sphere, but it spawns in a random location? How do I make it spawn at 0,0,0? If I press 'g' to move it whilst holding down ctrl, it moves in grid steps, but not actually on the gridlines
I feel bad that no one's helped you yet. When you left click anywhere in the scene, the 3D Cursor moves, (The circular red and white crosshair). When you create a primitive, it'll appear where the 3D Cursor is. So, if you've clicked somewhere, there are two ways of getting it back to the center as far as I know.
First, go to the side view, and click as closely to the center of the XYZ gridlines as possible. Then hit 'Shift-S', and choose 'Snap to Grid', this will make the cursor snap to the nearest gridpoint, which should be the center. Do the same procedure with the top view, and front view, so the cursor is aligned on all three axises.
Secondly, if you still have an object that is centered at the exact center of the grid (Such as the default cube), but you've lost the 3D Cursor, you can just select the object in the center, hit 'Shift-S', and choose 'Snap Cursor to Selection'.
EDIT: But wait, there's more!
The most simple solution, which somehow spaced me earlier, is just to use the 'Transform Properties' window. Hit 'N' with your off-center object selected, and a small window pops up. To the left are three dials, LocX, LocY, and LocZ, set all of these to '0'

It's supposed to look like they have been burned down. Just need the flame to look good somehow.

What is that? It's nuts, but awesome. Imagine UV Mapping that, Ouch.
Nvidia never has to open up google for nice desktop pics!:v:
Hmm, is that something similar to BlobMesh?
