DoF looks so wrong with toon. other then that it looks pretty nice.
Oh, here's the image I was rendering while I took that screenshot:

Does anyone have any idea about my 16bit/32bit problem?
I think I'm done with it:

I was bored so I created my own, haven't modeled anything in a few months so I thought I'd start with that.

The chamfered edges look great, but you should do them after uvw mapping though.
GPU rendering as well.
Seriously, GPU rendering is not as supported as it should be.
[editline]04:59PM[/editline]
Anyways, when I render with V-Ray;
[img_thumb]http://i52.tinypic.com/33u2ybd.png[/img_thumb]
In MentalRay, I get better performance (And I guess, a better range of colours) when I switch to 32bit.
How do I do this in Vray?
I am not entirely sure why you need 32bits per channel. Unless you are rendering a hdr or something. jpg supports only 8bits if I remember right. png supports more, but still, you don't need more than 16 unless you want hdr images

You should always have your frame buffer set to 32-bits per pixel.
You should always have your frame buffer set to 32-bits per pixel.
Why? 32 bits contain colors much brighter than a monitor can show or an image format to support. There is no point, since you won't see any difference at all.

Well, can you just tell me how I set it to 32?
Did a vector of the cruzer logo. I've been needing one for ages.
Should I post it for anyone who wants it? It'll be a high res png

Here's an ugly fucking chair.

One more question about vray, can it cast caustics from hdri map? I think it can't because I've never seen it done, but who knows.
Asking because I used unbiased fryrender and it cast very nice caustics from using only a hdri.

I wasn't planning on texturing it. It was just something I did to see if I was rusty or not.
Dammit Johan. :ninja:

I need to perfect it. I'm noticing problems now.

He has a spotlight to do the caustics.
Seriously, someone! :crying:
Tell me how I switch to 32bit!
I feel so ignored.. :frown:

It can. Even though I suck at caustics with Vray (see second post this page), the engine doesn't care if the light source is a standard spot light, a Vray planar light, or an HDR map.
He has a spotlight to do the caustics.
Make a dome light and in the texture slot put the hdri map. Then you should be able to generate caustics by playing around with the dome light's area and intensity.

why would you want 32 bit?

I don't know how to do this in Vray, but if someone does DO TELL.
[editline]12:49AM[/editline]
why would you want 32 bit?
Where to start?
For example in compositing you can have much much more control over your lights, post motion blur and dof gives much more realistic results,
you get very good post glow and radiance format can store other channels such as pixel depth and velocity into a single file.
why would you want 32 bit?
Because It gave me a performance boost in MentalRay.
aaaah didnt know.
alright ive started unwrapping my plane.

Doesnt it allow quadratic antialiasing if youre running it in dx10?
Doesnt it allow quadratic antialiasing if youre running it in dx10?
I dunno. I've just barely gotten it to work with things like nhancer and a lot of manual tweaking.
Bioshock can do it so it's obviously possible. I think GOW and UT3 do too.
