AA can be enabled by editing some ini files.
I dunno. I've just barely gotten it to work with things like nhancer and a lot of manual tweaking. Bioshock can do it so it's obviously possible. I think GOW and UT3 do too.
Bioshock is on Unreal 2.5. AA works fine for me in UDK with no setting tweaks.
Why? 32 bits contain colors much brighter than a monitor can show or an image format to support. There is no point, since you won't see any difference at all.
It doesn't work that way. Brightness is arbitrary. Anyway, what it means is that it will represent the colours and brightness at a higher definition than in 8 bit, which can help it dither out banding. I think that's the idea. It will also make editing the image afterwards far less messy. Provided your image software supports such formats. [editline]07:24AM[/editline]
Bioshock is on Unreal 2.5.
UT2004 is on 2.5 what are you talking about?
Yeah I think Bioshock runs on UE3, it was hyped so much before the release for its graphical trickery.
I was going to put a bump map that said "//=====// nVidia is hawt //=====// Johan is not //=====// ♥ Jimmg ♥" But I don't think blender 2.5 supports uv bump maps at this time.
Bioshock runs on a heavily modified Unreal Engine 2.5 with a lot of UE3 features added in.
hello guys I want to start 3d and i was thinking what application should i start with? I want to make props for games that are using the source engine. Also can ypu point me to any good tutorials you would recommend to make game props?
?
?
and you wonder why no one answers you. just download the trials for the programs, the most used ones are; 3DS Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, and Blender. you can also use sculpting programs but no one gives a shit about those. but seriously it really bugs me when people ask this, it's always different, depending on the person, you might like the UI, the simplicity/complicity(?). I personally use Cinema 4D, mainly because I'm good with it and I don't want to switch.
?
There are close to no tutorials on making "source props", you just have to follow the general guidelines of the engine you are working with, like polygon limits and optimization, etc. As for making props for source, maya, 3ds max and blender can do it. Or you could go with XSI Mod Tools.
Thanks I think I am going to go with blender :)
Hey. I am back, if you even remember me. I am, as last time, trying to make a box appear in the real world. This is a very crude WIP, but constructive criticism would be great! I am currently just working on the rotation of the box. You're gonna have to either download it, or watch it in your browser. No fancy youtube for you.

mo :D
uh. wat.
so much shine hnnnnnnnnggggg
What am I looking at here.
Damn, those cows eyes scare me.
What am I looking at here.
Your mom. Just something inbetween rendering and shit, might or might not finish it.

I'm trying to attach a camera to an object, a sled to be exact. Though, I have no idea how to do this without having to group them both. (Makes it impossible to simulate the sled in Reactor) [editline]04:57PM[/editline] Aka, I'll have to simulate first, then attach the camera somehow.

I've seen a cow model that looks just like that, I think.
Made a mailbox: [img_thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/9133125/3D%20Stuff/mailbox_render.png[/img_thumb] And the UDK screenshot: [img_thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/9133125/3D%20Stuff/udk_render.png[/img_thumb]
It looks so out of place :X
I test all of my stuff on that map. And it looks kinda funny :v:
The wooden pole and that flag thingy look too big and cartoony. Cartoony as in out of proportions. And it looks very different in udk than it does in the render, mainly the red part. I'd advice to create a better studio render setup. Also it looks too high poly for such a prop.

I recommend you try your hand at real texturing instead of slapping a couple things on there and being done.
Yes, the texture is pretty bad. Why would a simple wooden pole have tiny repeating horizontal planks? [editline]11:13PM[/editline] Oh and the small handle thing on the lid is missing smoothing groups. And why is the screw modeled?
I agree the wood texture is bad, the handle on the lid has smoothing groups, the geometry isn't too detailed though. And finally, the screw isn't modeled, it's part of the texture, just looks modeled thanks to the normal map.
