Doesn't matter about the polygon waste as I doubt it's going in game.
Doesn't matter about the polygon waste as I doubt it's going in game.
bad habit
bad habit
Depends on the level of professionality, cause when you realize that you are moving up the ranks, you figure this stuff out. But yeah, its a bad habit, but its alright to do at a low level

[editline]16th October 2010[/editline] also content [editline]16th October 2010[/editline] small office-ish type building im working on
I like optimising. I'm not sure why.

Also, I'm curious to see how it will look after you texture it..
Doesn't matter about the polygon waste as I doubt it's going in game.
that is a horrible excuse
I always optimize as much as I can because otherwise my shitty laptop slows down in viewport
Looks very good. Also, I'm curious to see how it will look after you texture it..
I'm wondering what it will look like when I'm done modeling it.
I have no idea how to optimise anything :v: I just made some boxes and modified them.
No like really i have no idea where I'm going with it next Suggestions anyone? [editline]16th October 2010[/editline]
I have no idea how to optimise anything :v: I just made some boxes and modified them.
Just remove unneeded edges and stuff like that. Use floating geometry Uuhhhhh Quads and as few tris as possible, avoid ngons, etc
tris are cool for low poly
tris are cool for low poly
I was just sayin in general like for most modeling you'd wanna avoid tris, but yeah cool for low poly
Tris aren't cool for anything. Even for low poly I would not use tris unless it's really needed in one place or another.
ok
that is a horrible excuse
It's not really an excuse but if it's unnecessary there's no point.
I like optimising. I'm not sure why.
Me too. It's therapeutic.
What's so bad about tris? They only fuck up your model if you're turbosmoothing it. And real time applications triangulate the meshes because gpus work faster with triangles.
Made a signature for my brother today: Some of you might know this emblem. ;)
Woah Jeggis, I love the idea.
do i see an hdri in there?
do i see an hdri in there?
Correct. My frontyard, actually. :)
very nice
What's so bad about tris? They only fuck up your model if you're turbosmoothing it. And real time applications triangulate the meshes because gpus work faster with triangles.
I am quite sure that ALL 3d apps use triangles. It's just that modeling apps allow for ngons because working with triangles would be an ass. In the end, they are still triangles, just missing one edge in the middle. That's why you can turn on triangular view in max and other apps.
Even for low poly I would not use tris unless it's really needed in one place or another.
:downs:

lets all be civil now
What's so bad about tris? They only fuck up your model if you're turbosmoothing it. And real time applications triangulate the meshes because gpus work faster with triangles.
well, for arma 2, the model format is smaller when using quads rather than tris's . quad = 1,2,3,4, Tris = 1,2,3, 2,3,4
