Your avatar reminds me of the 1950s Cold War era, Johan.
Here is some more stuff for you guys:
A Dreadnought that is rigged and textured in Maya for a game:

Whoa, nice. I like the insect.
The model for the dreadnought is p good but the texuring seems to be a first pass or just really lazy. It lacks any material definition and seems to only be a diffuse. Are you going to do any more work on it? It could be really great.
Okay folks, so me and an animator friend of mine are planning a trip Egypt in the summer, mainly as a research expedition for reference pictures for my projects. I chose egypt as it's a relatively safe and western friendly arab nation and that's where the market is right now for 3D scenes like I do. I'm thinking of buying a new camera setup, maybe two for the expedition. I currently have a decked out D90 but I don't think that would cut it. I'm thinking of a Canon 5D, Nikon D700 or something on those lines. Anyone have any recommendations?

Let me get this straight, you're going to Egypt for 3D refrences? Mind if I save you a few thousand dollars?

Correct me if I'm wrong but is that the only reason you're going?
Wow just because pyramids are the only architecture you know there doesn't mean that's the case.
Egypt has a ton of awesome stuff. Good luck Ajacks.

He's looking for arabic style buildings not pyramids.
Yes, all the way around the world for the pyramids.
I'm going for real pictures of real cities. The things people normally don't ever photograph and that are invaluable to a modeler.
Also for spring break were flying up to Seattle and then down to San Fran, guess for what? Valve and Pixar, tours are already arranged. My animator friend has been there before and is on first name basis with many of the high-ups at Pixar.
Thanks Nevarakka! :)

Ya, it is only a diffuse texture, I am not very good at doing textures unfortunately. :(

Really good man, but maybe try adding a railing on the roof (I'm assuming that room there is a stairwell to get up, so people will be able to get there, a garden or maybe some aircon units.

Valve isn't in Seattle, they're in Bellevue, which is kinda right next to that so whatever.
He never made it clear what he's was looking for but if I had to assume, I'd say he's after something Like this.

and if you want to really go in-depth with it, here are some actual floor plans for the style of buildings you're looking for. http://www.jumeirahislands.com/en/living/islamic/floor-plans-islamic.html
Here is also a site to download free Middle-Eastern Style buildings for you to learn from and experiment with. http://www.3d-source.com/2010-arab-building-3d-model. If these aren't good enough, there are plenty of other resources on the web to help you out.

Bellevue is like saying they are in L.A. when infact they are in Inglewood, same difference. I've been right past their offices before, a few years back.

lol, You must be new here.
I'm incredibly reluctant to post any of my game related stuff here, so I'm going to go safe a post...here it comes...a gothic lampshade.
this was just a test to try out the photoview 360 render program, and it's pretty sexy. the only problem is that you have to model in solidworks, and that's as limiting as a 2-foot cage. I'll post something better when i get off my lazy arse and model something worth showing.

and guess who took those pictures?
Those who visited Egypt and middle east :D
and if you think you can see the world with that LCD/LED screen in front of you... man it's time to get off your chair and get some social activities and do some exercises.

A tiny bowling game I coded:

Why did you use Gamebryo :byodood:
because I had the engine installed xD
I'm actually using Unreal engine for the main game that I'm working on.
because I had the engine installed xD

Why would you install it in the first place?
What would be a good thing for a first-timer to model? I'm using 3ds max, and so far I've made a shitty whale gravestone thing and a super-generic Final Fantasy-ish sword. I do not plan on posting pics because they make me puke out my eyes. Also, I haven't polished them at all, so I don't see why I would.
[editline]o[/editline]
Heck, I'll take the texturing tutorial, I need it
Do some tutorials, maybe see how they make rims for car models and something useful like that. You'll find that knowledge valuable later when you need to array stuff.

Their offices are very interesting. With statuettes and pictures and whatnot. And there should be the mirror that dude on this forum did too.

I tried making a combat knife, and I tried applying textures, but it didn't go the way I wanted it to. How do I export a texture-template-thingy, and what is that called?
Also, yes, I know it sucks, I first got 3ds today.. :geno:
That's pretty good considering you only just got 3Ds Max.
When I got it, a few weeks ago, after modelling for months, it took me a good few days to get hold of just looking around, although that may have been something to with it being completely different in XSI.

Just suggesting alternatives. I'm sure it wont make any difference, though, he's still going to go anyway. That's mainly why I asked if he's going only for 3D refrences. Believe me, I'd go to Egypt to look at their buildings anyday, I just don't have the cash to set on a life changing trip for the sake of 3D modeling. I'd be stupid to assume you're going so far out of your way for a hobby. The options are either A. you're rich and can afford a trip to Egypt for pictures. B. You're bullshitting me. C. This is part of your job and your company is funding this as a means for research. Actually, it could also be for college too, right? Missed that one.
Lastly, I'd be interested in hearing some of these questions answered, Ajacks. Again, I'm not trying to come off as a dick, just wondering.
I am not rich.
I am not bullshitting.
I am not being funded by anyone.
I am a full time student.
I am a humble man of humble means with an extravagant flare.
