It's a remake 2.
Well, that probably explains, at least partially, why the Metroid 2 fan remake got dunked so hard. The other part of the explanation being that Nintendo can be pretty big arseholes when it comes to their fanbases.
Either way, Samus Returns is looking pretty damn good, I have to admit.
Welp time to buy a Switch
This, Mario Kart, BotW, Odyssey, Splatoon, Rocket League, and a mainline pokemon game have pretty much convinced me that I need to get one at some point. Plus the likely future of Smash, Mario Maker, and homebrew are making me excited.
I'M YOUR BITCH BOI AGAIN NINTENDO
Metroid Prime 4 Raving Rabbids

Is 2017 really a Prime number? That's ironic.

Wolfram Alpha says yes. Wikipedia confirms, noting that it is also a "sexy prime" with 2011.
The only thing that I'm curious about is what the new team is capable of.

I am assuming its kind of a hand select team of old staff and new talent since they apparently made a new team just for Metroid Prime 4

Wow, was I sent back to 2001?
According to IGN: Retro Studios will not be developing the game and Kensuke Tanabe is returning as producer.
i'd rather retro work on something new

Tanabe is back to produce the Metroid games, so I'm sure everything will go well.
Now RetroStudio can give us Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze 2: Electric Boogaloo.

They are. Their game is still an unannounced science fiction project.
It's literally nothing and I'm still hyped
Please be good
I'm totally stoked for Tanabe working on the game. He's done amazing work before.
I hope by winter-time they have some real good gameplay to show us.

I doubt it, but I have a feeling this is going to be Nintendo's big focus for E3 2018, like Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild was. Unless, of course, they have the Pokemon Game ready to be showed.
I can't believe Metroid isn't fucking dead.
What's next smart guy Nintendo, new Megaman?
Oooh actually something from Nintendo to hyped for this year!
I really hope they don't fuck up the boss fights. Metroid Prime still has the best boss fights in the first person shooter to date. It would be a shame if these end up being dumbed down for the 'casual' audience Nintendo always pushes for.
Nintendo wins E3 2017, and E3 2018 will be nothing but Nintendo conferences about Metroid, and then halfway through Hideo Kojima and Gabe Newell walk on stage and announce the Black Box which will be Metroid Prime 4, Death Stranding, Half-Life 3 and Ricochet 2 all sold together for every console on the market for 59,99 available right now.
