You know, that is a good book. But I thought optimism was supposed to be a natural thing, you know? I guess not everyone has the same optimistic outlook on life as I do :D
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, so I'll just explain.
A Brit named Danny Wallace did it for real, then wrote a book about it. Then just recently they made a movie about it, with Jim Carrey playing Wallace. Although Wallace does have a cameo in the film...
woah, are you saying a british guy copied an american comedians work in a movie?
:v:

Tut tut, leading me on like that.
Becoming a Yes man is a quick way to get yourself a few hard dicks up the ass. Logically, you should weigh the chances of what something can offer, not just say "Fuck yes, I'll say yes anyways.". Self help books like that are bad for you, and are just cash draws and drains for morons. The movie itself spoke out about being a yes man if you didn't notice.

It isn't a self-help book. Just a guy telling the reader of his experiences, he's a comedian here in the UK. Not some God-bothering bloke who can teach me to earn millions through following the bible and drinking protein shakes.
I will be doing what you said, not mindlessly agreeing to everything I am asked, but just saying yes, where I would usually say no.
Will you say yes to the below sentence?
Will you say no to the above sentence?

How paradoxical of you, haha.

Must..... Read.... OP...... Before.... Posting.....
Is it really that hard?

On a serious note:
Can I have some money
He founded a Micronation and started the Karma Army too!
Oh, that Danny Wallace.

I read OP. I know he isn't doing anything that is asked of him. It's still a bad idea. He's kind of being a "I'd like to follow ideals, but I can't, so we'll just settle for something that's what everyone else does but call it something else so I look cooler". Weighing options is what we should all do, and acting like everyone is a no man, and acting like your a yes man for doing what's logical at times isn't something worth announcing.

Not interested in looking cool, actually.

The universe is based around attraction. When you say yes to something then you are attracting positive energy. If some one asks you a harmless question then why not say yes? For the sake of optimism it may just be the right thing to do.
You should read a book called "The Secret." It changed my outlook on life completely.
[editline]12:00AM[/editline]
"The Secret" is also a movie for those who are more visually inclined.

If a self help book changes your life, you're doing something wrong. Basically, what you just said is hippy shit. Sorry, don't believe in that. Saying yes is something you should only say when it's something you want to do. If you have no reason not to do something, and you're saying no out of principle, then yeah, where's the harm in saying yes. But when you're saying yes just to say yes, that defeats the purpose.

You're telling everyone else what you're doing, so yeah, in a way, you do.

Its not a fucking self help book!
I don't want to look cool, how is saying yes to everything even remotely cool?

It isn't. You apparently think so because you're doing it. If you didn't think it was good, fun, or something(= cool) you wouldn't do it. You admitted yourself, you're not saying yes to everything, so why call yourself a yes man?

I was inspired by the book to give it a go myself. I'm not saying yes to everything because to do so would be illogical; I would be taken advantage of.
I am doing it to see if I feel happier, or if any significant changes take place in me or my life. Not to look cool, or to show off. Jesus.
Sounds cool, I might try this for a day, see how it goes.
And why is everyone so aggressive towards the OP? He's just doing something for fun.

They are all a bunch of 'no men'.
Nah, they are entitled to their opinions. I would reccomend giving it a go.

I'm glad you said that 2nd part. I'm not a no man by no means, I hardly ever say no to giving favours to others. I just don't believe in silly ideas like Yes Men.

Fair enough.
You seem pretty cool, I mean your bio says you're a musician, a director and a writer?
Three things we share in common.
Yep, it's life long hobby of mine.

Cool, I don't do any of them professionally though. I play the piano on occasion, and write random scribblings when I'm arsed. I make short films at a semi-professional level though.
The point of the whole "Yes man" thing is you answer yes to every possible question you're presented with for better or for worse.

I've got one book sent off to the publishers and trying to get an album off the ground between two bands, and I'm in film school. Busy. God. Damn. Days. I'm not proffesional either, just trying. I doubt the publishers going to pick up my book though, god damn.

I know, but I don't have the balls to do it to that extent.
If someone said 'Can you give me all of your earnings from now on?' I would be obliged to say yes. But I can't let myself do that. So I'm going to do it to everything that, like I said, doesn't put me at risk. Whether that be financially or otherwise.

Ahh cool. Good luck.
I'd like to try saying yes to (almost) everything one day. Like if someone said will you join my yoga class with me I'd normally say nah it's not my thing.
Loved the book, but I haven't seen the film. I liked it when the challenger appeared and started sending Danny things in the post and emailing him suggestions like "Why not go to stonehenge?".
On an unrelated note, what's your email address?
To be a "yes man" don't you need to say yes to everything?
