You want to know why the Mayans stopped at 2012? Because they ran out of rock to carve out the calender. End of discussion.
I doubt any-one would go out to rape and plunder just because of this, I mean, I've been asking around and most people don't give 2 fucks about this, if they even know.
I've met.. one person who was sort-of thinking that this could be real, but he's the exception.
I'll spend 2012 being cautious about stuff.
And if 2012 does happens it would just most likely be the end of society.

Governments going corrupt, wars happening, tax rates rising, running out of oil, 'supposed' global warming (This is happening but personally the Humans are not the cause IMO) Thank you god for deciding to end it just as everything goes utterly upside down!

Looking at the doomsday clock, the geopolitical situation, and just people in general. I think the world will end.
Y'know usually I'd deride this all off as straight up hyperbole and BS, but there has been an amazing amount of terrible stuff happening in the world lately. Like more often than ever.
Be it natural disasters, economical situations, conflicts etc.
Probably not the end of the world, but I'm expecting a major disaster of some kind.

Why? No seriously, considering we've survived plagues, and natural disasters, and indescribably horrific wars, why do you think that the entire human race is just going to suddenly die in a couple of years? Don't you think we're a bit sturdier than that?
I'm a skeptic about the whole thing. Countless times people have been saying 'Holy shit world ends tomorrow' And it never does. Y2K for example.
