I'm thick-skulled? You're the one who can't grasp the idea of gender. It's really the characteristics that identify someone's true self. She's a female, deal with it.
You're ignorant as hell. Go tell a scientific person that he's a female. They'll do some tests and laugh at you. It's hard to take you seriously when you make daft statements like that. The characteristics indeed do identify somebody's true self. In this case, this person's characteristics are: he has a penis, he has XY chromosomes, he has testes, and he has a male body. Only thing that is abnormal is his hormone balance. Having a "female brain" isn't enough. He might be able to get his penis surgically removed, but he'll always have XY chromosomes, he'll always have a male body, and he'll never have ovaries. I support him too and everything but you're taking this a bit too far.
So when will it be possible to cut off a man's penis with surgery and attach it to a woman, then takes the vagina and womb attach it back on the man. And then the man can have a baby and everything.
It actually is possible, but the genitals won't work if I am correct.
XY = Male. You're trying to argue against that and then you go and call me stupid. :downs:
Yes, because I totally said that's not the case XY = Male, biologically. Yes, she will always be a male biologically. But mentally she will always be a she, and should be considered as such.
Yes, because I totally said that's not the case XY = Male, biologically. Yes, she will always be a male biologically.
No. That's a bit like calling gay guys females. They have male bodies, and thus they are males.
Except for the fact that gay men think and understand they are men, they don't want to be women just because they like other men. Gender Identity and Homosexuality are two things different entirely, they don't even relate. Most GID patients are "gay males" but "straight females". Gender Identity has nothing to do with sexuality in the slightest.
-sip-
and thus you're an idiot
What the hell possesses somebody to do this to themselves
Different strokes for different folks. Guys try to find out which picture looks the most like man and woman. So equal that you can't tell what the gender is. I'd have to say 2:40
and thus you're an idiot
Again, XY = Male. Rate me dumb all you want, it only highlights the power of ignorance in large numbers.
I didn't disagree.. I called you an idiot.
Again, XY = Male. Rate me dumb all you want, it only highlights the power of ignorance in large numbers.
Why do you assume everyone is disagreeing with you on that
Why do you assume everyone is disagreeing with you on that
"she"
"she"
We've already said it. Biologically She's a Male, no one is arguing that. But we're trying to point out to you that she is a female in her mind, and always has been.
We've already said it. Biologically She's a Male, no one is arguing that. That's what I'm arguing for.
Body and chromosomes take priority in deciding this. That's what I'm arguing for.
well good for you but i for the life of me am utterly uninterested go find something better to do than to try to bash into people's heads some random idea about priority this person identifies her gender as female i don't see how anything else is important
omg but the XY chromosomes
I've already said it. Mentally he's a female. Body and chromosomes take priority in deciding this. That's what I'm arguing for.
You seem to be really very ignorant of what this amounts to, its not just a simple case of XY = male. There's a genetic disorder that can accompany gender identity disorder which causes the individuals chromosomes to have XXY/XYY/XXYY/YYX etc. genes. Not everyone in the FTM/MTF community has this problem though. Feeling like your trapped in the wrong body for the vast majority of your life is a really depressing thing to think about, and alot of these people feel that way. Your logic is way to cold, theres zero empathy for these people which is pretty horrible. My best friend is FTM. He looks like a dude now, but is in no way changed as a person. So why IN THE BLUE FUCK should it matter to me why he's doing it? It really doesn't, because he's still who he was before, just some adjustments. SO if it doesn't matter to me it shouldn't to you because what ever a person whats to do for them self's is up to them. I am in no way ignorant to what your trying to argue, but understand that your arguing to your self and to deaf ears. No one cares about technicalitys in this matter, only that they got what they wanted.
I was talking to my friends brother(who used to be a girl), he said you actually need to get loads of psychiatric evaluations and tests to do this to make sure you are actually feeling this way and aren't crazy. You need to see all kinds of doctors, and this is even before you start hormones which most are on for a year before they get surgeries because the surgeries aren't reversible while the hormone treatments are.
Eww, what the fuck.

The surgerys are, for the most part, entirely optional. Especially lower surgery which is hard to do and rather expensive, most people elect not to do it. Getting T (testosterone) is a pain because insurance companys don't want to pay for it, unless you have a good insurance company.
You all are stupid, I think she's beautiful.
Another thing, XY and XX don't exactly determine your gender. Some women have what's called androgen insensitivity syndrome, they are genetically male, but that is the extent of them being male. Their cells can not react with the male hormones so they develop as female from the womb, they even have vaginas. Female is the "default" gender, unless you have that y chromosome to tell your body to create androgens (like testosterone), you are a female, and if your body does nothing with the androgen in the case of AIS women, you are a female.
I think its pretty funny how all of facepunch gets on a high horse about this but when there is a thread about a furry its open season.
I go by "Once a male, always a male", "Once a female, always a female". That's just my opinion, other people follow the same thing as me and some don't.
I really don't get it, why people care how they should refer to the person in the video. He, she, it, you can use any of those, and some of those would be more offending to the person than others, but at the same time, those names would be correct in the view of those who would use those words to refer to that individual. Can we cease arguing on this subject, and go back to subject of higher triviality?
If it's not permanent, I should do this for awhile then go visit my parents claiming I'm a lost daughter.
I go by "Once a male, always a male", "Once a female, always a female". That's just my opinion, other people follow the same thing as me and some don't.
Exactly. She was born a woman with a deformed body i.e. looking like a man. There are people doing something controversial and there are people who feel proud of their sexual fetish, call it a lifestyle and have a giant urge to tell everyone about it. I'm sure not everyone is like that, but it's the loudest ones that define the image of a group.
Body and chromosomes take priority in deciding this.
That's an opinion. [editline]19th February 2011[/editline]
You're ignorant as hell. Go tell a scientific person that he's a female. They'll do some tests and laugh at you.
What the fuck is a scientific person? Critical thinking and open mind make a "scientific person". If she was tested by a psychologist he'd say it's a female mentally. And again. Body over mind priority is your opinion. You don't go around with DNA tests to check people.
It's hard to take you seriously when you make daft statements like that. The characteristics indeed do identify somebody's true self.
He might be able to get his penis surgically removed, but he'll always have XY chromosomes, he'll always have a male body, and he'll never have ovaries. I support him too and everything but you're taking this a bit too far.
So you're just taking everything "technically" right? Technically we're just apes.
Some of you guys have the most biased views on this.
Some of you guys have the most biased views on this.
Maybe because that dude is a crime against nature.
Can i do hormones for just 6 months or so? I want a cute girly-ish face. Looks great around that time.
