My assumption is that the US doesn't want to support the protesters because:

If the protests fail and the government survives, US-Egyptian relations will be ruined if they have been going "BRING EM DOWN BOYS"
Unlike with Iran, for example, the US doesn't have much to gain from getting involved and supporting the protesters
So it's a risk with no significant pay-off for them.
No, because they want him because Mubarak is their bitch and will agree with anything they say, therefore why take him down?
It feels so amazing to just see and watch a whole revolution grow before your eyes. One event leading to all of this really.
Mubarak is their bitch and will agree with anything they say.
This is true sadly.

They give Egypt billions of dollars, they act to their wishes. If the people take over and start a democracy it's less likely they'll be able to maintain their hold.
Apparently there's this bloke on BBC News saying that someone has told him the President is in very ill health
Yea, he probaly is sickly rich. He and his family gathered billions.
Also, as someone else said, whose name I forgot, supporting the protesters wouldn't go over well with the other countries around that area, who might feel as if the USA are trying to inspire more revolutions in the area.
But the US didint inspire them, Tunisia did, because they have a terrible dictator and they united to take him down, as a result, other Arabs feel confident they can do the same, to be honest i wish my government would get taken down (I bet i'm going to get arrested for this).

They are setting the cars outside the foreign embassy on fire, i guess they are trying to scare the people inside, lol they just started extinguishing the fire they just started.
Okay so I had to go watch a movie with my family and came back to hearing how the protesters were protecting the museum and the US is reviewing its aid policy. that is good right? Anybody mind catching me up on the recent events? OH ALSO: the guy on my status got owned
Oh wow, this thread is exploding.

And to think all this started from a lowly street vendor setting himself on fire.

It's nice to see the BBC, legally bound to be neutral, calling Mubarak an authoritarian dictator and Egypt under him a police state.
The announcement from the speaker has yet to come. A senior member of the NDP has appeared on national TV and condemned the party and its corruption. Apparently didn't care about it before. Just like what we saw with members of Tunisia's RCD party denouncing it in an attempt to wash their hands of it. Fire still not under control. It appears the NDP HQ is right next to the Cairo museum. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=+30%C2%B0+2'51.32%22N,++31%C2%B013'57.03%22E&aq=&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=55.016555,79.013672&ie=UTF8&ll=30.04729,31.233026&spn=0.003715,0.004823&t=h&z=18 I think that's it then, Cairo museum on the right and that building on the left must be the NDP HQ.
Mubarak is about to speak soon on Egyptian television.
Heh, wonder where he is going to do that from.
Mubarak is about to speak soon on Egyptian television.
lol they keep on changing their minds about who is going to speak ..
Yes, Al Jazeera is reporting that Nile TV is saying that he is expected to make some remarks.
i heard though that it is a recording not live, apparently he is in hiding. [editline]29th January 2011[/editline] He is now speaking
