And I agree, diplomacy with Israel is good, but not to the point where you ignore your home and your people. A state's leader should ALWAYS put his people before anything, even himself.
Egypt must not also maintain its extreme previous support for Israel if there is a government change. Hopefully the new one will take a harsher stance which will pressure and encourage Israel to stop defying human rights. [editline]31st January 2011[/editline]
I agree with Israel having their own country, I just don't agree with circumventing human rights to achieve support for them. It's just that there's probably plenty of people in Egypt that could be supportive of Israel without doing things like Mubarak did. For instance, doesn't Elbaradei, the opposition leader, support them?
No, he doesn't at all.
I'm going to go back and read the pages I missed today so sorry if I'm late. According to 10 news the government is sending Qantas jets over to evacuate Australians.
I'm going to go back and read the pages I missed today so sorry if I'm late. According to 10 news the government is sending Qantas jets over to evacuate Australians.
If I were there right now I wouldn't want to come back. I have some weird urge to be part of what's going on in Egypt right now. I wish I could be there adding another head to the crowd, to help instead of just being here watching it all go down online.
The Australia media is kind of a patriotic dickhead, this is the first I've heard of the riots on Australian news and it was because they were evacuating Australians.
The Australia media is kind of a patriotic dickhead, this is the first I've heard of the riots on Australian news and it was because they were evacuating Australians.
That's the way media works. They want you interested and news that are "closer" to you seem more interesting. It's how it works in most places of the world.
Something very large is going to happen today. Tahrir Square is blocked off with barbed wire, military has a larger presence, and police are back on the streets. The opposition called for a million people in Cairo to march, and internet is slowly coming back. Shit is going to hit the fucking fan
lol @fox news , they don't even know the location of egypt [img_thumb]http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/1676/233425680.jpg[/img_thumb]
So Fox news just forgot that they had war on Iraq couple years now?
'Mega protest' planned in Egypt [release] Opposition movement calls for one "million people demonstration" on Tuesday in a bid to topple president Hosni Mubarak. Egyptian protesters have called for a massive demonstration on Tuesday in a bid to force out president Hosni Mubarak from power. The so-called April 6 Movement said it plans to have more than a million people on the streets of the capital Cairo, as anti-government sentiment reaches a fever pitch. Several hundred demonstrators remained camped out in Tahrir Square in central Cairo overnight, defying a curfew that has been extended by the army. Thousands were back on the square by mid-day on Monday, chanting anti-government slogans. This as heavy military presence was seen in many parts of the capital. One of Al Jazeera's correspondents said the military's attempts to block access to the square on Monday by closing roads was not working as more people were arriving in a steady stream. "Protesters say they'll stay in this square for as long as Mubarak stays in power," she said. Protesters seem unfazed by Mubarak's pledge to institute economic and political reforms. Our correspondent said people feel that such pledges "are too little, too late". New cabinet The newly appointed prime minister of Egypt, Ahmed Shafiq, has formed his cabinet, in which Mahmoud Wagdy has been appointed to lead the crucial interior ministry, responsible for the police.
So Fox news just forgot that they had war on Iraq couple years now?
You'd think that'd be something to remember.
I heard there is an Israeli Warplane carriying weapons for the government to use against the protesters.
Read at SA that China, besides censoring the word 'Egypt', also posted a fake news story about how the Army fired on protesters at Tahreer square. Perhaps to further stop any unrest from happening from their students?

Al Jazeera isn't working for me! Help!
I heard there is an Israeli Warplane carriying weapons for the government to use against the protesters.
You mean for the protesters to use against the government? Im pretty sure the government has enough weapons considering the current level of Army presence :v:
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/aJ3zr.png[/img_thumb] second comment that wasn't hate. I posted tons of posts concerning this and have only gotten 2 people to positively respond and show concern or be grateful that I am posting. Every little bit helps. and who knows, maybe they will talk to their parents, they parents will talk to each other... word gets around. I'll see who heard about this when I go back to school Monday and smack whoever hasn't. This is huge news. As for right now, I'm going to bed. I'll catch up on events (if there are any) tomorrow.
Would that be CourageDog?
You mean for the protesters to use against the government? Im pretty sure the government has enough weapons considering the current level of Army presence :v:
The Army pretty much also hates the government AFAIK. It's only the corrupt police forces and the presidents "guards" that's left to fuck shit up.
Would that be CourageDog?
No there are other girls in the world.
No there are other girls in the world.
Rating yourself zing is bad.
The Australia media is kind of a patriotic dickhead, this is the first I've heard of the riots on Australian news and it was because they were evacuating Australians.
Same across the world it seems (although the BBC have had in detail round the clock reporting on this since day 1). Although I can see why news that probably won't effect anyone watching it takes a back seat till it starts to effect its viewers. [editline]31st January 2011[/editline] Dunno if its been mentioned yet, but the BBC are reporting that in the last few minutes the military have said they will not use force against the protesters.
Whenever this pops up on the local TV my mum starts ranting about how those fucking gypsies need the dictatorship and that they shouldn't have a real democracy otherwise they'll rape and steal and shit. :sigh:
That's the way media works. They want you interested and news that are "closer" to you seem more interesting. It's how it works in most places of the world.
Hail the BBC, it's been their top story for days over here, and not because of British tourists (though that has been mentioned obviously)
I just watched the national evening news here in Luxembourg. The documentation of this delicate situation was a fucking joke. They said that the egyptian population is unhappy with the current situation and want Mubarak to leave. Later on they said nothing about the dead and wounded people, they only mentioned that the governement will not use any lethal force against the protestans. Afterwards they talked about tourists leaving the country, the whole time they only talked about travel operator are having issues with the changes of reservation and all that jazz. I'm really upset about this, it was a joke.
