Shit's gonna be good
by this, it probably meant violent which means death and chaos. thats not good but whatever is necessary to bring justice, let it be.
From the 31/1 blog on Al Jazeera
10:13pm Twitter reports from this evening say that four large screens have been installed by protesters in central Cairo to show Al Jazeera Arabic and Al Jazeera Mubasher (Live) to the crowds gathering around.
I can't really not support this, I can see that they're tired of being bullshitted by their government, and hell, my own Country wouldn't be here if it wasn't for a revolution, albeit a different kind :v: Good luck to all of you out there!
The fact that both muslims and christians are helping eachother and are united is... touching
From the 31/1 blog on Al Jazeera
That can't end well, I mean the government (I would say police, or army but I am not sure) arrested 6 of Al Jazeera's journalists (including many of the people covering it for al jazeera english). They really do not want them to broadcast to or from Egypt it seems. Although they did get released pretty quickly according to the BBC.
Egypt must not also maintain its extreme previous support for Israel if there is a government change. Hopefully the new one will take a harsher stance which will pressure and encourage Israel to stop defying human rights. [editline]31st January 2011[/editline] No, he doesn't at all.
Oh, whoops. I thought somewhere I read something saying he did. Oh well. Everyone needs to stop violating human rights. I support Israel existing as it's own country, but when it comes down to things like human rights violations, I just don't get into it. Edit: Just saw the first post on this page. Funny thing, I support the death penalty for certain crimes (murder, namely....or rather just murder). Rather: Pretty much everything in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
cell phones will be cut again ...
I wish there was some way we could collect money to air-drop satellite phones to you guys or something :ohdear: Also it is in my opinion that the people of Egypt are far too intelligent, far too educated, and far too connected to the world to become an extremist nation out of this.
"BBC Arabic reporter in Alexandria says he saw Muslims protecting Churches as part of the newly formed up public protection legans (groups). He says there is an amazing unity amongst all Egyptians both Muslims & Christians against the regime." I'm amazed at the unity that this is bringing. With the initial statements by protesters that it doesn't matter what faith you are, to the various opposition groups uniting and agreeing on a single leader, this is very much the best possible outcome in a case where you have many tensioned groups.
That's awesome. I'm glad to see everyone is fracturing into small groups, but really standing as one.

I love the way people put together past hatred and conflict when they rally together under a united cause
Just read the whole thread, probably took a hour or two. Really interesting stuff going on over there, I wish it was covered better by first world countries. Looking at the newspaper this morning the only article on it was hidden in the back.
Good luck to all the Egyptians, I really hope you guys come out on top.
I love the way people put together past hatred and conflict when they rally together under a united cause
You just know that as soon as Mubarak falls they'll resume bickering right
Jesus, I hate the media here in America. We're not worried about the people of Egypt, we're worried about the Terrorists. I'm ashamed of my country.
Rated dumb. This is important, but we have our own problems. Besides, people always complain about the U.S. getting involved where it shouldn't. Looks like the people of Egypt have got this.(DOWN WITH MUBARAK)

He divided Egyptians. for example , in order to build a church in Egypt , you must have permission from president Mubarak himself. which is almost impossible.fastest permission to build a church in Egypt takes like 5 years lol. the result is that Christians feel that Muslims are racist even Muslims are not happy with that and asked for a united law for building religious buildings, Mubarak never cared though. yes there have been conflicts, and there will always be minor ones, just like any other country. but it was never that bad till Mubarak became president. Mubarak have been getting us busy for the last 30 years, no matter what it is as long as we're too busy to think about our freedom and rights. you name it , economic problems / religious problems / political problems /social problems. even sport, they are so pathetic that he and his government made most of Egyptians busy with a fight with another country over football with their stupid actions & statements. sadly many people never realized that these problems happened ONLY after 1980 .... Divide and rule... I'm no big fan of conspiracy theory , but sometimes it sound so true well people started to wake up, this logo was made this year by Egyptian youth on Facebook who used it as profile picture in an attempt to stay united , it says " one nation ... one people" so dont believe everything you hear from the media , I think if Egyptian people were given a chance , they would show how the middle east can have real democratic & civilized countries.
Jesus, I hate the media here in America. We're not worried about the people of Egypt, we're worried about the Terrorists. I'm ashamed of my country.
umm.. we have two wars in the region.. this revolution is going to cause other revolutions, accept it or not, but this will shape the way the world is going to look in a few years, and it is easily going to make a positive or negative impact on western society, so its a pretty big deal for the people of Egypt and the united states. (DAMN that was big run on sentence) [editline]1st February 2011[/editline] The Egyptian uprising is a understatement. I think the "Middle Eastern/Arabic World reform" is a better title for the history books.

Looks like the people of Egypt have got this.(DOWN WITH MUBARAK)
Reporting something on the news does not make a country involved. I'm sure there is stuff going on that is more important to people in the US but there can't be so much going on that your news programs and newspapers cannot report in depth on one of the biggest things happening in the world right now.
Im back!!! :D I got banned for posting crap, sorry for that admins. I kind of expected it actually. Anyway, check this out: http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/02/01/us-egypt-protest-google-idUSTRE71005F20110201 Google and Twitter unite to create a service for Egyptians to call a number and leave tweets. I'm going to sleep soon so that I can wake up at 2 AM or so to watch as the major protest of 1 million+ unfolds and as they march towards the palace. I got so drawn into this... and I have school tomorrow. An hour early than normal, too. :(
Amazing video that shows that the Egyptian people really care about their country.

They want to be allied with Egypt for the obvious benefits but are they really going to lecture him on how to run the country? They were very public about a lot of the issues under Bush and under Obama, they just protested in private. No doubt a new Egyption government would be just as important to the US so I'd think a lot of the support would continue.
I love bacon too.
Someone already made that joke like pre page 8. I also wish the best for you Egyptians in the future and now.

They knew he was a shitty leader but other than make public what he does, there's nothing they can do. They aren't going to pressure their allies into changing their system of government and they can't exactly boycott a major ally just for that. Egypt, while they were quite bad with it, are nowhere near as bad as many other nations or even the terrorist groups. Saudi Arabia would be worse than Egypt for both but the advantages they give are more important than lecturing them. You try to make a safe world and eliminate even more radical factions, then you perfect democracy.
