no thats the police last time I checked... do more research on the subject and you'll find that the Military has vowed not to turn against the people. Also, to anybody reading this page, If you don't know that much about the protests, don't say wild and untrue things unless its a legitimate question. It gets annoying when people say "Egypt is a shit country, they need Mubarak to keep order, this revolt is pointless and will never work, they need to wait till September till he steps down or it will continue to devastate the country" That particular sentence is filled with BULL SHIT and therefore you shouldn't post. And I know some people believe this too... Don't be ignorant because some people who ARE actually Egyptian or people who have followed this thread from the start and check it every day and watch the Al Jazeera stream non-stop (like myself) will call you out on your mistakes. But please, avoid making them because they enrage the passionate supporters in here.
I just read a Norwegian article and it said some journalists got arrested by the military, so it was probably a typo. Oh, and this video made me angry; http://www.dagbladet.no/
Is it bad that I laugh each time I see the guy riding the camel? I mean, who goes "Wow, look at all those protesters fighting against a corrupt government that I support, I know! I'll ride up to them on a camel!" Sure, you'll scare them off at first, but then mob mentality kicks in and you get swarmed. Plus what happed to the camel? did it run off or became camel burgers? Why am I so concerned about a fucking camel?
If you ever been to pyramids before, you will see many people offering camel & horse rides. those people never had ANY type of education and they are extremely poor. now they wonder why there are no more tourists and no more money. till one of the police /ruling party comes to them and say its all because of those bastards sitting @ Tahrir square. here take 100$ each and kick them out so you can have your tourists back. thats why they were very daring , they were not only fighting for money dont worry there was no camel burger hahahaha ... the camels and horses were handed over to army along with captured thugs [editline]3rd February 2011[/editline] omg watch the fucking police http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GK_t-3vpzJM
It's more than that. Your average person doesn't give a shit about anything that's not presented to them. The oldest of fucks in the U.S. grew up with Hearst papers and now Murdoch's Fox News. If the info wasn't put on a plate and handed to them, it may as well not exist, and they have never cared about potential bias or flagrant errors in any of it. I've been in college lectures when postgraduate students though Al-Jazeera was a terrorist organization. Fox and the U.S. government pushed that view they were evil during the early days of the Iraq war. It's not just apathy, it's not knowing what else is out there. So Fox can spin this to look like there are only a "few" protesters and largely ignore the whole police-IDs-on-pro-mubie-crowd thing and everyone else buys it because, hey, what the hell else do they hear? Actually, do yourself and your U.S. friends a favor: http://www.iwantaje.net/ Hit up your cable provider.
Its amazing how misinformed (and in some cases not informed at all) Americans are by their news channels, I never realised how bad it was till recently. Maybe I have just been spoilt because I have grown up with "proper" news channels around that don't try to spin the news one way or another (in an obvious way anyway) or even have opinion based shows on. There's an interesting documentary that I watched recently which covers how news channels (focused mainly on Al Jazeera but included American ones as well) covered the war in iraq and why Americans thought Al Jazeera was evil. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Control_Room_(film) Back to the actual topic though, two slightly worrying updates appeared on the BBC live update thing a little while ago. 1617: New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof tweets: "Govt is trying to round up journalists. I worry about what it is they're planning that they don't want us to see." 1620: BBC World tweets: "Egyptian security seize BBC equipment at Cairo Hilton in attempt to stop us broadcasting." If both of these things are true, then it does raise questions of what the Government is planning to do.
Did someone say baton ? Amen !

http://www.vg.no/nyheter/utenriks/artikkel.php?artid=10021638 You know, this mubarak guy is begging for a bullet through the head. The french revolution was done with the guillotine. I'm starting to think the egyptian government won't really back down, why don't we just put an end to this madness.
The western countries is gonna get pissed at mubarek soon, a swedish journalist has gone missing. Edit: And a danish journalist was beating with clubs some days ago.
Al Jazeera are commenting on the speech by Suleiman recently and are interpreting something he said as accusing Al Jazeera as being behind the protests.
I stand by your side, OP. [editline]3rd February 2011[/editline]
Edit: And a danish journalist was beating with clubs some days ago.
Damn police fascism.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GK_t-3vpzJM
:wtc:
Watching the live feed, saw some shootouts and large groups of people rushing through barricades. Did the anti-govt protestors decided to assault the troops or is the military holding back the pro-mubarak protestors?
:wtc:
Yeah What the Christ indeed.
Boston has a new set of Egypt pictures. http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2011/02/a_harrowing_historic_week_in_e.html
http://inapcache.boston.com/universal/site_graphics/blogs/bigpicture/egypt20211/bp10.jpg Holy shit! That guy is flying! Edit: Another one http://inapcache.boston.com/universal/site_graphics/blogs/bigpicture/egypt20211/bp20.jpg Egypt must be full of ninjas.
Al Jazeera are commenting on the speech by Suleiman recently and are interpreting something he said as accusing Al Jazeera as being behind the protests.
Yeah, translated he said: "I blame some sister countries that have unfriendly TV stations, which incite youth against us." That's what they're taking as a slam against them.
[img_thumb]http://a.yfrog.com/img612/9868/2gvcl.jpg[/img_thumb] "A pic I took yesterday of Christians protecting Muslims during their prayers."
This is nice. Media's been freaking out too much about "fundamental Islam" in the "Muslim Brotherhood", who can feasibly take over the country. And yet people who take a rational look at the streets sees evidence to the contrary. Muslim Brotherhood is just a smokescreen to distract westerners from the true reason- protests against the Mubarak regime and poverty it has created. The wingtard media circles has been a perfect example of this. They've shifted away from this attention on the repressive regime to smearing the regime. This has taken two forms. -Beck and others have been going for the vast Islamofascist-Marxist conspiracy to destroy Egypt and create a terrorist state. So Mubarak is the lesser of two evils! -On the flipside, others have tried to hijack this to their own purpose. Reading the entry on wikipedia, some have taken NDP's statement of "social democracy" to be a codeword for authoritarian socialism. They then try to equate the demonstrations against Mubarak with the Tea Party struggle against Obama's Socialism :911: All the while innocent people get shot and hurt fighting against repression and poverty. And the nuts here try to hijack it for their own political agenda. Sickening.
One latvian news network reported on their satellite mobile phones and video cameras being confiscated in the airport. Silly police, you can't hide the truth.
Egypt needs bacon and atheism in their culture
Christiane Amanpour Nabs First Interview With Hosni Mubarak, Egypt President http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/03/christiane-amanpour-mubarak_n_818260.html
Wow. That video, wtf. I can't believe he just hit those people! Just like that, brutally! How sick are they? And I agree on the Fox News controversy, and all the others. How ignorant can these people be - they're like mini-Mubaraks, blaming everything just for attention, just to whip their fucking dick around. But that picture of Christians protecting Muslims is beautiful, it's like the truth of all this, all in one picture. I've never been more proud of another people that are not my own... My teacher today was teaching about fascism, and made a very small remark "You can see this in Egypt right now". I got that 'burning heart' feeling that you get when you hear something important to you - and that's weird, I don't even get that when people mention Russia anymore. I'm also worried about the press being suppressed now, and their phones and equipment confiscated. Someone must act now. I hope the UN or someone else is paying attention to all these reports. I'm scared that the government might be planning something... it's already worse than it should have been... Please no more violence :(
A police van plows into a crowd of demonstraitors. Video (very graphic): http://ekstrabladet.dk/nyheder/krigogkatastrofer/article1498724.ece
I really hope they get their shit fixed fast there. It looks like hell. No one should have to live like that.
I've seen younger.
No words honestly... God I hope things don't get any worse. I just hope this will be over soon...
Egypt needs bacon and atheism in their culture
Deciding what a god is telling you to and not to eat is just stupid. Atheism, go!
