The Middle East Revolution [2010-2011] Thread: I love baton

I've been following the thread from the start. All I can do is wish the best of luck for all brave Egyptians fighting for their rights. Good luck, from Portugal.
@tommyc225 yeah, I've been battling those creeps for a long while now.
They're fond of spreading misinformation and bullshit all over the place, some are spreading on youtube and other popular forums even.
In other news: Muslim Brotherhood pledged not to put forward candidates for more than 30% of the Parliament, and none for presidency.
Some people don't trust them but they won't fuck up their image over this, I've had my share of dealing with them (as individuals) and know for sure they'll uphold their word on this one.

Has this been mentioned yet?
Barack Obama has reiterated his demand for an "orderly transition that begins now" in Egypt and urged President Hosni Mubarak "to make the right decision".

No offence to my fellow American face-punchers, but the way I see it: your president has a mighty big mouth and some very short arms.
Not that I disagree with him or anything, but I dislike how rapidly he switched his alignment on this, his government was pro-Mubarak at first, then neutral, and finally anti-Mubarak at last, psh... politicians.

And this too: http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpps/news/white-house-blasts-iran-for-egypt-remarks-dpgonc-20110204-gc_11738553
(AFP) - The White House Friday criticized Iran for calling for an Islamic regime in Egypt, saying Tehran was in no position to make such "remarkable" comments after recently crushing its own uprising.
Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khomenei referred to the Egyptian situation in Friday prayers, calling President Hosni Mubarak, a ""servant" of Israel and the United States.
He called the current wave of Arab revolts an "earthquake" triggered by the 1979 Iranian revolution and said that if successful, they would lead to failure of US policies in the region.
"It is remarkable that Iran would make a statement given their actions when it came to their people exercising the same rights that people are exercising now in Cairo," Gibbs said.
Gibbs was referring to mass protests in Iran following the re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a June 2009 election that opponents said was rigged.
Tehran severed diplomatic ties with Cairo in 1980.

I may agree with the message but US is in no position to make that remark either. They supported Mubarak financially up to last week.

I think you are right to be honest, he has taken a long time to say that. Perhaps they spent the last 10 days discussing every possibility.
Also another interesting thing to come out of the BBC live update (from many many hours ago) is this
"The head of the US military, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen says he has been speaking with his Egyptian counterparts. Speaking on US TV, he told The Daily Show with Jon Stewart: "One of my chief goals right now it to make sure we keep the lines of communications open, I have talked to my counterpart a couple of times. And also that we've got our military ready, should any kind of response or support be required.""

He can't afford to openly support either side right now, because if he ends up putting his total support behind the losing side, it'd be bad news for Egyptian-US relations.

Obama is one of the worst U.S. presidents in history. He won't make it another term, he pissed too many people off. Just take a look at congress, almost every hard-liner democrat had their ass kicked out to the curb, and some of them have been in office without a break for 20-30 years.
The most probable reason for his flip flop decision is because he had to buy enough time to put in place a backup system for control since the current system has failed. Now that he's calling for the ousting of the dictator, that's more or less a sign that the U.S. government now has an contingency plan of controlling their interests in the region once mubarak falls.
Hopefully Egypt can create a new government without controlling foreign powers like the U.S.
Ahahahahaha, wtf, they're singing that shit now:

You are completely right, the American government is basically trying to stick on the winning side to make themselves look better.
Glad to know your back up bro. Thank you again.
So the government is trolling now.
Great.
Egyptian Troops ward off Mubarak Loyalists with warning shots apparently.

I have absolutely no idea what they are saying, but it does sound awesome (although any large group singing anything sounds awesome).

I know.. I just hope it was a joke for the sake of the show..
cause the US does not need to get involved.
It needs to just stay quiet and wait and see how things turn out.
we have already caught enough shit for swapping sides a few times, we just need to wait and pick a side when its all over.

I agree.
IMO no external power should get involved (at least while it is relatively peaceful). If a country wants to have a revolution and chuck its government out it should be allowed to install what ever government it wants after. If you have meadling from other people they will probably end up with a government they do not want (but someone else, say the US government does) and eventually the situation will repeat it self.
well .. Egyptians wouldn't accept any kind of foreign involvement anyway
before the first foreign soldier step on Egyptian lands ... all those demonstrators will be ready to fight under Mubarak's leadership to keep Egyptian lands free
may sound stupid , but thats how Egyptians are.
The US government has pretty much confirmed how pathetic they are with this charade. They're afraid to say anything the least bit controversial, yet want to act like they're doing something.
To any of the FP'ers in Egypt right now: Mubarak, egyptian media and western media will try to spin this as either the crowd is getting violent, or try to draw attention away from the protests by saying they've died down. The mainstream media works against your interests (Al jazeera is the only non biased news station, give them your full support) so as i've said a million times, social media is how you're going to win this thing. Whether you guys win ultimately depends on the image the world holds of the protests, and the media is making it very hard for you guys.
So spread the world and most importantly, DO NOT COMPROMISE. Im glad the protesters saw through Mubaraks bullshit when he declared "I'll stay until the end of my term" and decided not to accept that obvious copout. Don't settle for anything less than a new secular government that values freedom and it's citizens.
In fact copy that last sentence onto a piece of paper with huge font, make millions of copies and drop them all over the city.
The Egyptians have been fairly smart to completely reject anything less than a leave from Mubarak. Except for the fact that they refuse to march, but then again, the longer they just stay out there, the worse the countrys' situation gets, and he'll have no choice at one point.
Also, Al Jazeera is amazing. Its people like them that make the world live on. We should make some public thank you to them when this is over.
meet & Greet with the reporters! :D

If only certain parts of the world could be enlightened to their brilliant reporting of issues in the middle east.
A group of "terrorists" just blew up a gas pipeline leading from Sinai to Jordan
Been contained though
