What is the most recent new from Egypt? I'm doing a school report and I need the most recent news on Egypt.
So it`s stalling right now? The protesters are just sitting there?
@RudeMcRude @Antary: Pretty much stalling right now, PM wants life to go as normal outside of Tahrir square and similar areas around the country where the protests are taking place (In other words: he plans on sealing the protesters away in controlled areas). So, most likely there's going to be an escalation on our side tomorrow, although it's still being planned.
If you actually pull the trollface.jpg "problem Mubarak?" it's likely to become an instant internet phenomenon. Do it.
I love vagina. [editline]7th February 2011[/editline] I'll stick a baton (an actual one) up yours.
I'd just shoot him in the head. Nobody deserves a painful death. And lol, Brother Muslimhood. fail. Edit: Wtf is he talking about. Hes like not even making any sense.

I actually want Mubarak to suffer. Death is too easy.
I'd just shoot him in the head. Nobody deserves a painful death.
I'd just hand him to a martial court tbh.
And lol, Brother Muslimhood. fail.
Ahahaha.. Bother Muslimhood.. oh god.. http://abcnews.go.com/ThisWeek/video/omar-suleiman-crisis-12852023 He reminds me of the guy yelling 'Shakira Shakira' in this ad:
HAHAHAHAHHA Brother Muslimhood .. omg hilarious :D

You of all people should know that I follow this revolution religiously and have read the thread since page 1 (and participated in it since about 15). I just don't believe in torture or anything like that. That's why I'd just shoot him. Also: http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2011/02/20112722535988460.html "The show also included an interview with a former state TV presenter who dismissed her previous employers as liars and propaganda artists for Mubarak. "The show ended with a plea from her: 'To all the children watching this show, go to your parents, tell them: mum, dad, if you want me to have a brighter future, a good education, then take me to Tahrir square tomorrow'." Powerful.
I think its for the best interest that the Egyptian people don't rush this. You want the transition to be organized, just kicking him out and putting someone in his place who really never planned their position out isn't.. really that great of a idea. I say continue the protests, but try and get your economy on its feet again, cause from what I can tell the country has basically been put on its knees now. You guys got mubarak to back down, but you can't expect him to nail and bail. What im getting too, is maybe you guys should just compromise and wait till September.(Yeah if you want a democracy you better learn what a compromise is and how to do it.)

Let them get that new cabinet up ASAP. Look at the French! It only took them 5 tries to get it right.
wow thats crazy Aljazeera : former minister of interior habib al-adly accused of being involved in Alexandria church bombing last month http://www.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/24764930-5733-42DA-A0A8-00586C105984.htm?GoogleStatID=1 you can use Google translator , it wont be perfect translation but it will do
I wanna hold one with trollface.gif and "Problem, Mubarak?" at the bottom. Like I said, a secular technocratic demarchy would be best imo, and not only for my country; I think that's the model regime of the future. I could elaborate, but my walls of text usually grow exponentially (the old thread about Atheism is a good example). Let's just say that it's a "fractal yet modular" structure of governance that could allow for diverse countries and nations to progressively integrate into one big collective in the far future.
could you maybe PM me an explanation of how it works? [editline]8th February 2011[/editline] Who thinks this will end with mubarak's guards betraying him?
could you maybe PM me an explanation of how it works?
You should PM me that too if you do write it.

[editline]8th February 2011[/editline]
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/wikileaks/8309792/WikiLeaks-Israels-secret-hotline-to-the-man-tipped-to-replace-Mubarak.html 'The files suggest that Mr Suleiman wanted Hamas "isolated", and thought Gaza should "go hungry but not starve".' And he can't legally run for presidency, the VP can't be a candidate according to the current constitution.
Some how I don't think it'll be a fair election.

[editline]8th February 2011[/editline]
Some how I don't think it'll be a fair election.
if its not. word WILL get out and shit WILL hit the fan. I think leaders in the Arab world will be scared or cautious about this for many years to come. Even if the revolution doesn't work (but it will) It will still have a huge impact on the middle east. A demonstration of what a country CAN do.
Dr. Ahmed Khaled Towfik: Yesterday I saw pictures of young martyrs on television, then a friend of mine commented: "Imagine that some of these were avid readers of your novels!" A shiver struck me.. Those are my children, really.. Those smart sensitive eyes are now shut forever for the NDP to remain.
The press here is saying that the revolution is beginning to run out of steam, is this true or bullshit?
Some how I don't think it'll be a fair election.
God I hate agreeing with this. I wish Egyptians nothing but the best, but I'm afraid that Fables hit the nail on the head. It's going to be REAL difficult to make sure the elections are fair, without foreign intervention, which I think would be an even worse idea (bringing in foreign help during the election process)... As far as what I'd do with Mubarak... I'd find out who his puppet masters are and post their names publicly, as well as their affiliations. He's a TOOL (literally and figuratively), just like anyone else in a position of political power. These people are just FIGUREHEADS for a larger, more influential groups. The groups that back people like him are what need to be dealt with. Just because a lion is de-clawed doesn't mean it's any less dangerous, it just lulls us into a false sense of security.
I was worried the protests were dying down in the past few days but looks like they've come back strong today.
The press here is saying that the revolution is beginning to run out of steam, is this true or bullshit?
Heh, thousands are currently surrounding the Parliament at Cairo and the national TV building here at Alexandria. Today's protests across the country were the greatest in numbers so far. The interview I posted above is allegedly the reason behind this, it dealt a strong 'emotional-slap' to Mubarak's last speech (where he sort of pleaded to the hearts of Egyptians and, combined with his army of trolls, nearly managed to divide us). Even housewives are joining the protests thanks to his tears.
"Ghonim's tears have moved millions and turned around the views of those who supported (Mubarak) staying," website Masrawy.com wrote two hours after Ghonim's TV appearance. In that short span, 70,000 people had signed up to Facebook pages supporting him.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/02/08/egypt-activist-tears-idUSLDE71726T20110208 http://www.voanews.com/english/news/Egypt-Government-Offers-Reforms-as-Protests-Enter-3rd-Week-115572414.html I've got PMs on Facebook from people I used to debate with saying that they're sorry and that they were wrong. :sun: [editline]8th February 2011[/editline]
God I hate agreeing with this. But trust me, post-Jan25 Egypt is no longer the same.
