I'm not really up to date on things, but how are the soldiers actually behaving? Because even if the higher-ups say that The Army is going to support him, it doesn't always reflect the mindset of the troops.
As several officers have allready deserted, i think this will turn into a conflict between military democrats backed by protestors and military loyalists. Either way it will be bloody.
