Whipped up this thing in five minutes so it probably could be better looking but meh.
+1 on that Gold/special title for voodooattack.
Along with the magnitude of the protests themselves, this is the great victory the Egyptian people deserved.
I hope a new kind of government can be established, one that really is about and for the people. I think these social networks could be vital in this.
I hope voodooattack comes over here after he's done celebrating to brief us on what's predicted to happen next. This is the first big victory for the people of X and Y generation (I could be wrong, though).
I leave you with this song that in Portugal is a symbol of freedom, as it was played to signal the start of the Carnation Revolution.

Grândola, swarthy town*
Land of brotherhood
'Tis the people who command the most
Inside of you, o city
Fuck yea! Mubarak resigned.
This is what our kids will be reading about in history books.
This sounds amazing, but I want to hear from our Egyptian/Arab-world friends on their take of what's going down with the military.
Victory! Freedom! Yes!
Custom Title ideas:
I Fought the Law and the Law Lost!
Made History
I Made a Dictator Step Down
All would link to this thread.
Revolution has been achieved. Good work, Egyptians! :buddy:
God, this was the greatest day of my life, bar none.
Alexandria's coast is on fire tonight, we ran out of fireworks and people are lighting emergency flares.
I can't describe that moment we got the news, we were protesting near Almanshya square and everyone broke into tears. I saw people climbing on top of tanks and APCs, hugging the military officers and soldiers. An army general gave us a salute.
Cars started honking tunes, people waving flags out of their windows. Little kids started singing together.. I can't really describe it.
Too much is happening at once right now.
YES! VICTORY!
The news reached me in school and I just wanted to jump up and scream in the middle of class. I can't believe it!
I'm so proud of you guys! And I'm so happy that it didn't end in too much bloodshed. I really have no words. I'm so happy for you voodoo, I wish I could be there with you to celebrate this, to witness the moment... I'm still extremely excited to have followed such a historical moment, something that our kids will read in history books... But man how I wish I was there.
I am so happy for you Egyptians.
Congratulations Egypt, I hope your country will turn into a proper democratic nation.
Now excuse me if I sound ignorant, but isn't there a risk that islamists (like Muslim Brotherhood afaik) or the military takes the power? From what I've heard the leader of the military was standing close to Mubarak. But yeah I'm not really sure on anything so I'd appreciate some answers.
Once again, congratulations!
People have been saying that since the start. I think if this thread was named something more appropriate it would be more popular.
I only stumbled into it because I was wondering why it had 20 pages (I was honestly expecting a 20 page lovefest of bacon)
Started browsing this thread at page 25 or so, because I thought it was about baton's, and went "meh".

That sounds so awesome. I had a dream once like that where I broke down crying because of something totally humbling and profoundly beautiful that happened in it, but nothing like this.
Its party time

Thanks everyone, your support and kind words are appreciated!

The military announced that their wish for civil democratic rule, and that's the direction they'll work in.
The Muslim brotherhood previously announced that they won't run for presidency or more than 30% of the parliament. (and I honestly think they can't top that percentage even if they wanted to, they're not that popular here)

No, the Muslim Brotherhood was pretty much given a bad mouth during the revolution especially by Mubarak and some Western extremists. They're not going to do much and they've announced this themselves; they've also said they will only go for 30% of the new Parliament (or whatever they'll have), which means it's likely that those elected will be a low percentage, all they will is just have some form of representation in the government, but that's about it.
They personally said they don't want to take power or anything.
I think this is a nice way to sum it up.

Tonight, I went to a Man Night with my friends from my church group. We played Risk and I got Egypt to start out with... I fortified everybody in there... but sadly, Saudi Arabia destroyed me. I think a guy took a picture of him closing in on me and I might post it if he took the pic of it. Great thing was that I had a truce going on with a guy I know and he controlled America and was helping me when I gave him my cards (even though thats against the rules) I thought it was pretty ironic and I told that to all of them, I also told them about how its liberated now and they all were like "thats awesome!" I told them "Now I can stop with the annoying updates now!" and they all said they really liked the updates. And it was coming from Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors (I'm a Junior)
so yeah. I did my part in making my school care!
Hopefully Egypt will remain independent of U.S influence during these next few weeks.

I heard that they are going to try and influence Egypt. The americans are also scared about Muslim Radicals taking over Egypt
Of course the US is going to want to influence Egypt. But the one thing they SHOULD take from the US is democracy ideas.
Well, I don't really have any words to describe how awesome this is, but I do hope you guys can recover smoothly, and that this triggers off a arab wide revolution against dictatorship
I've read this thread from page 1, every single post up to the one above me, and Egypt has finally claimed what's theirs.
A revolution is both painful and amazing, Egypt has pulled it out succesfully and bloody congratulations to them! Now comes a hard time of transition, and I hope the Egyptian people can get a decent government and nothing bad happens, because many things could happen now. Perhaps it's even more dangerous now, but as long as the will of the people is one, they will be safe :)
The scene Voodooattack described is heart warming, beautiful at most, I wish I could've seen that.
¡Viva la revolución!
Someone check up on Glenn Beck and Fox News. I want to hear their comments!
I dont.
This is such a historical day, that we are all witnessing. History, right before our eyes. Modern day... Who could have thought this could happen - it seems like history now is only present in books. But Egypt has proved us wrong, and now cake all around!

People are people, if we're tenacious enough and have adequate means to do it, there's damn near nothing we can't do.
Wow, congratulations. Enjoy your new found freedom, and make sure another ruler like Mubarak never gets office again.
