Hopefully with the new regime this should happen.
we need an :egypt: emote already
That's what we hope for.
Hoping voodooattack or someone else can answer me this:
What about ElBaradei? Has he been involved in anything with the transitional government so far, or was that abandoned, or what?
Nope, he's planning to run for presidency when it's possible though.
Fuck, special forces and military police are attacking protesters at Tahrir square right now.

Under who's command?
Under who's command?
We don't care; if they did it, the Council of Armed Forces will be held responsible.
This is unacceptable, and I bet tomorrow is going to be a newsworthy day indeed.

Wait, so the military is attacking the protesters in Egypt?
So this fight isn't over with as we had hoped? Are you going to oppose the military's rule now?
Why were these people protesting, though?
This is scary.

Yes.

They want the old government removed, we removed Mubarak.. but not 'Mubarakism' apparently.
Sounds like there could be armed conflict between the two sides similar to what's happening in Tunisia. Not good.

Cannot believe Gaddafi would do that to his own people. I am 100% in support of the revolution.

I just saw this:

and then came back here because I knew you were going to have something in here on it.
Cannot believe Gaddafi would do that to his own people.
I think what's slightly more disgusting to me is that he's claiming everyone involved as a protestor is of "foreign influence." That's been parroted by every despot on their way out so far, and yet he'll say it until he's blue in the face as a justification for shooting his own populace, like he is the country. You're going to be a fuckass tyrant you should have the balls to say "I am in charge and I am going to fuck you over one way or another", not hide behind such a no-effort excuse.
It's like shooting someone and then when asked why responding with "I dunno."
The army just issued an official apology on their Facebook page, saying that no orders were given to use force against protesters.
A military speaker is addressing the nation on national TV in a few hours reportedly, I guess we'll wait for an explanation before our next move.

these protest signs are always great
Oh god.. treason? that's an overkill.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/feb/24/zimbabwe-charged-treason-egypt-protests
Forty-six people in Zimbabwe have been charged with treason, and some allegedly beaten by police, after watching videos of the uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia
The activists, trade unionists and students were at a meeting on Saturday titled Revolt in Egypt and Tunisia: What lessons can be learnt by Zimbabwe and Africa?, when it was raided by police who seized a video projector, two DVDs and a laptop.
So, it looks like Zimbabwe is now considering the possibility! :v:
They also created a Facebook page, awesome: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Free-Zimbabwe-now/194603633897741
Anything on that military speaker speaking?
Sounds pretty crap tbh. I didnt see that coming. Not a good idea to fight Egyptian protesters anymore...

this revolution tsunami just won't stop
Always fight the good fight.
bacon?
bacon?
That joke got old after page 3, god damn
Wow. Just saw a thread on facepunch about the Military stuff in Tahir.
I just want it to be over. please put somebody in control who can change this Mubarak-ism that has tainted Egypt. And to think this was all over. I thought Egypt had nothing to fear after Mubarak stepped down.
EDIT:
oh, just saw that they issued an apology that no orders were sent. Okay, thats good. Lost and confused soldiers at least aren't as bad as corrupt officers.
also, where is Mubarak? I never caught that.
I think he's still in the resort.
I was hoping they'd go get him right there haha.
It's america's iron curtain falling appart.
Hey Vodoo, do you want me to change the title of this thread to "Middle Eastern Protests 2010-2011 Thread" or something similar?

Global Revolution 2011 sounds more correct.
Global Revolution 2011 sounds more correct.
Heh, I'd say this topic focused mostly on the Middle East and North African protests. There really aren't any other serious protests ocurring outside of the Arab World.
Global Revolution 2011 sounds more correct.
It isn't a global revolution, because it's mainly affecting countries where poverty levels were high 40-20 years ago but since then has become richer, thus getting a more modernised infrastructure and a better access to internet. With these prerequisites, a revolution was only a matter of time, since the government still hadn't modernised.
With that being said, I don't think Zimbabwe is ready for a revolution yet, it's one of the poorest countries on earth and the education there is really lacking, and is still being plauged by the AIDS epidemic. Not that I don't support Mugabe being overthrown, I'm just sure a possible revolution there will fail.
SBS news showed footage of defected army personnel painting the old Libyan flag on their helicopters. It was awesome.
Well he only has one city left, being Tripoli. I like how they're conquering the country here and basically squeezing him out instead of just trying to convince him to leave, lol. He'll be out soon.
party hard
