The Associated Press - Egyptian Muslim brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie, enters a polling station to cast his vote in Cairo, Egypt, Saturday, March 19, 2011. The referendum on constitutional amendments gives Egypt’s 40 million voters their first taste of a free vote in decades, but also poses the first major challenge to the country’s transition to democracy after decades of authoritarian rule. He wasn’t injured but was forced to flee in an SUV without casting his ballot in a referendum on whether to adopt a package of constitutional amendments that would allow new parliamentary and presidential elections to be held later this year or early in the next. ElBaradei and other critics are opposed to the changes, saying it’s too soon. Critics fear an early vote would give unfair advantage to established organizations, including the Islamic fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood. ElBaradei and a group of his supporters were attacked as they headed to vote in Cairo’s Mokkatam district. Copyright 2011 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. looks like the US/UK/France has gotten involved in the Libya situation.
I have a feeling this Libya attack is kind of like Elementary school soccer. I think America is playing more of a roll than the Media is leading us to believe. America is the striker that always does a good job and hogs the ball and glory from the other players. However, the other players don't know what is going on because they are running around in circles watching America score goals and acting like they are doing something so the coach (UN) doesn't make them run laps. In history America is always at the lead of major conflicts in the middle east. Probably this one too. Source: I live on an Air Force base. Lakenheath which sent the planes in the first time we attacked Libya. The whole base was on alert and people were told they would be flying to another one of our bases (cant say what) but closer to Libya for easy refuelling and rearming with 3 days notice to leave. Its fucking crazy guys.
Lots of reports coming in that #Misrata is experiencing heavy shelling by #Gaddafi forces and under attack [editline]20th March 2011[/editline] @libyan4life: #Gaddafi: We are not afraid of your rockets. We promise you a long drawn war. @BBCBreaking: #Gaddafi tells Libyan State TV that US, UK and France are "criminals" and that #Libya is preparing for a long war [editline]20th March 2011[/editline] @bbcbreaking: #Gaddafi describes French-British-US air strikes as a "new Crusader aggression" and "a new Hitlerism" in interview with #Libyan State TV+ Apparently Gadaffi opened gun depots for everyone for defense against foreign military.
I've been trying to get up to speed with whats going on. Whats going on with Egypt now? I've only read all the posts from January. So the dictator has been kicked out.
that is a very good idea when your country is on the verge of a full on civil revolution
I'm hoping that some guy takes a tank, and blows gaddafi up.

http://english.aljazeera.net/watch_now/ watch all facets of the revolution live from anti air gunfire during live coverage, to airplanes flowing over head, to other African Nations having revolutions you've never heard of, to what's happening right now, 3 people arguing over politics in Egypt's potential elections.
Norway has 6 F16 jets stationed in either Italy or Greece to help out if needed.

Kinda a bump but hoping Egyptian users will see this. My friends just came back from Spring Break and they went to Egypt! They said somebody tried to buy his sister and another person tried to kidnap his young brother. I was confused so I asked my History teacher and she said you guys still don't have a government. But hey! At least you are getting tourism from US Airforce Families! The exact kind that would be terrified to go and EVERY military member has been told to refrain from travelling in those countries.
That shit is nuffin' I was chillin in columbo in 2006, bombs n shit
Libyan rebels are now better equipped:
It's shitting me off how nobody seems to care about this anymore. None of the news stations are reporting anything where I live, nobody I talk to seems to know anything about it, it's like the royal goddamn wedding is more important then shit that actually matters

I say they stop pussyfotting around. The news should be depressing because shit like this happens.
I want a camel
I haven't heard anything about Egypt since Mubarak fled the country, and then all the other countries having their Revolutions. :frown:
I heard someone say that it's because it's too depressing. I say they stop pussyfotting around. The news should be depressing because shit like this happens.
Isn't like 90% of the news depressing stuff all the time anyway?

And no, we do have a new government, just no president/parliament yet. The armed council is assuming presidential duties atm. And his sons (Currently held at Torah prison) and him are getting prosecuted.
On April 13, a prosecutor originally appointed by Mubarak ordered the former president and both his sons to be detained for 15 days of questioning about allegations of corruption and abuse of power amidst growing suspicion that the Egyptian military was more aligned with the Mubaraks than with the revolution. Gamal and Alaa were jailed in Tora Prison, while state television reported that Mubarak was in police custody in a hospital near his residence following a heart attack.[7]
It's interesting to get a perspective from an average citizen who lives in the country
What's actually happening in terms of your rights/life and all that? It's interesting to get a perspective from an average citizen who lives in the country
Life is just as it was before, except that everyone is cheerful for a change. As for rights, cops are quite careful and restrained now afaik, the military is alright and don't enforce the curfew in most urban areas, not brutally at least.
Well, I guess it takes time to transition. I'm betting in next few decades Egypt will probably become advanced as any other "modern" nation, as I don't like the term western to describe developed nations
