why should the mother have to force that kid out her vagina when she could just abort it and prevent a kid from having a childhood filled with poverty
it's like you guys don't understand how non-existence works
It's taking a life, no matter what. She knew the risks, and she took them. Abortion should NOT be a viable means of birth control. A childhood filled with poverty is better than dying before you can see light.
It's like you don't understand how life works.
Oh I also think that legislation shouldn't be too sharp, I'm not saying that after 8 weeks you need to have a very good reason, I mean something like it'll affect the mothers career, would be good enough for about 12 weeks, but it will start to get difficult after 20 weeks (the highest estimate for when unborn children can feels pain and a few have survived outside the womb at this stage). but informing the woman on the procedure and what the child can feel is important, and should be a legal necessity.

Actually I'm pretty sure you don't, because fetuses aren't self-aware or conscious, and they're barely even alive

but the baby isn't conscious, we don't have any memories of being in the womb, the foetus doesn't suffer. And there are a tonne of reasons why people could want an abortion, from being raped, to birth control methods failing, to simply realising you aren't ready to bring a child into the world. Child birth isn't a punishment for chrissakes, it's meant to be one of the happiest moments of your life, you shouldn't be guilted into doing it when you don't want to.

It has an existence though, many people can remember small bits before they are born, it's just at what stage does this happen which is the issue. Good reasons are needed after this. I totally agree that a ball of cells doesn't have a concious existence, but a human entity that can feel pain does have a concious existence.

Doesn't matter. This is like saying we should shoot all the old people because they have nothing to contribute to society.
plus I can tell you that a life in poverty hardly beats not existing

Most of those circumstances are good reasons for an abortion if it isn't too late.

how the fuck is that even relevant
seniors have cognitive thoughts, they contributed society when they were younger, they have feelings, memories, a conscience
a fetus has NONE of those
But a lot of people do have a few memories of the womb, but most of them are just before birth (or so doctors think).

ugh
silk is not a dress
wheat is not bread
a cow is not milk
see where Im going here? A clump of cells is not a human being.
How much do we really know about fetuses is the better question. Do we truly know that they have no cognitive thoughts? No memory? Yes, after you're out, you have no memory of it. But are we really conscious from day one while we're inside?
Can we accept our different opinions, and be friends? :unsmith:

An unborn child can have limited cognitive thoughts, can contribute to society when they're older, they may have feelings and at some stage they do gain a conscience and they can remember their mothers voice ext.

The what are you? Nothing but cells. So nobody on FP is a human being cause we are all just clumps of cells?
But a lot of people do have a few memories of the womb, but most of them are just before birth (or so doctors think).
I have known zero people who remember anything before they were born

you used a four letter word when you first posted your opinion, it's to be expected that people will call you out on it.
fuck babies, kill em

My god...
We are clumps of billions of cells that support cognitive minds.
You're doing this on purpose.

This reminded me of something! If we don't have these children, it could affect (in America's case because that's where I am) the nation's level of defense. I could almost guarantee about half of the aborted children would've entered the service.
Why this thread.....again. Hot topic, many different opinions, no one will win the argument. Each person has their views/opinion, but we all know that this is just going to be a shitstorm. Can we save 200 pages of well if this and that happened, it's good/bad or this should be done, or this shouldn't be done.. let's just keep this stuff to ourselves? Why argue or discuss your opinion, even though it won't make a difference in the end??? Just a thought, I hate when people argue. It just seems so pointless. just a thought. Sorry if I offended anyone. Just trying to diffuse arguments. Against an issue that will never make anyone happy/sad/whatever and the issue will always be there. Like it or not.

But is an unborn child in later stages a clump of cells? Also can we say human as anything that contains human DNA and person meaning a concious living thing. An early embryo is human but not a person.

Huh?
You obviously have no friends then.
hmm, I have a fair few and I've never heard of someone remembering anything pre-natal
Only if there is danger to the mother or in the case of rape, and it should be covered completely by insurance if so. 'Not wanting it, just because' isn't a valid reason.
