I disagree, but that part is mostly open to interpretation. Hotline is so hard to do because it was so open to interpretation. I thought that the progression of their relationship that you can see led to Jacket's reaction being because of her death.
The thing is though, it's all so intricate. Right now the general consensus is that the part where you find her in the apartment dead never happened.
Woman? The fuck does this have to do with my opinion on her rant being stupid? Is that how you look at it? I think that it's stupid that she discusses the sexism shit in video games. Are you stupid? Why doesn't she rant about WWF(they treated women horribly in the show and it had and still has a huge fanbase) which was so fucking big in the media and how it affected people or movies that EVERYBODY watches. All these but fucking video games? I wouldn't care if it was a guy or a woman but it's just fucking stupid.
why didn't she rant about payment inequity why didn't she rant about how women are treated in saudi arabia why didn't she rant about rap music videos why didn't she rant about pornography it's almost as if her video series FOCUSES ON >>>>>VIDEOGAMES<<<<<<<
The thing is though, it's all so intricate. Right now the general consensus is that the part where you find her in the apartment dead never happened.
Exactly, so I think that point should be moot.
Women don't play that because they are too busy with real life activities. A woman is not going to choose playing a video game over going to a party or some trip or dating guys. At least the majority. Anyway her rant is retarded, she should do reviews or something. I AMMM OOUTTAAA HEREEEE
not going to reply to any of your dumb posts after this because it's clear that you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about jesus christ
I don't know why people get so mad at her she has a point even though she's picking out some games that probably shouldn't be there like psychonauts it's not that lili was specifically taken to be damsel in distress literally everyone was taken except for raz
I don't know why people get so mad at her she has a point even though she's picking out some games that probably shouldn't be there like psychonauts it's not that lili was specifically taken to be damsel in distress literally everyone was taken except for raz
Yeah, as I said before, she really should stick to a few, better explained examples.
Movies are still quite sexist and has at least 10x larger cultural impact on society, tbh I don't know why no-one adresses that.
umm theres an entire academic field that focuses on it called critical theory and media studies ms. sarkesian has a degree in it
umm theres an entire academic field that focuses on it called critical theory and media studies ms. sarkesian has a degree in it
no but her knowledge in that field doesn't count because anita wants to turn my videogames into no-fun cisprivilege :c
The thing is though, it's all so intricate. Right now the general consensus is that the part where you find her in the apartment dead never happened.
Still thinking about this, I think since we really have no backstory on the girl at all, I think the point should be double moot. :v:
umm theres an entire academic field that focuses on it called critical theory and media studies ms. sarkesian has a degree in it
Sorry, should've rephrased myself. Someone should make a big giant fuss out of it. Because honestly I never notice any of that which you are mentioning. I get the same hollywood movies here in sweden as you, and tbh Sweden doesn't do it that much better.
I'd like to see some numbers saying girls aren't big sports gamers. I could on the same notion as you say "I hardly know any gamers at all who play many sports based games.
That's why I asked if there are more than I think. I'm basing it from the amount of people talking about it on the same medium. Such as extremely rarely seeing girls talk about the games on Facebook, which is filled with men talking about the same games. Again that's why I asked if there might be a reason they don't talk about it if they do play the games.
My main issue with her videos are the fact that some of the points she makes seem like they're more open to interpretation, like Jenny in Darkness. She wasn't necessarily used as a "possession", it's shown that Jackie just cared about her a fuck ton. That's just my opinion though.
That's why I asked if there are more than I think. I'm basing it from the amount of people talking about it on the same medium. I wouldn't base you argument off that notion either.
Well, she continued doing what she surprised me with in her first video, namely to stay (relatively) neutral and to the point and not take a massive dump on the games. She's even courteous enough to point out that games featuring overused tropes aren't necessarily bad because of it, which is what my past me thought the video series was mostly going to be about. I can't say I'm ready to swallow quite all of her points but I found most of it interesting at least, especially the thing about the domestic violence implications. And I fully agree that games need better character writing.
this is progress. i'd like to thank you personally with one microsoft "funbux" giftcard
No one I know talks about playing games on facebook and I know a lot of people that game. I wouldn't base you argument off that notion either.
That's why I asked, so I could get a better idea of the numbers. Edit: Other people I asked have a higher turnout but still no where near a ratio one would expect.
This entire video can be contradicted so easily.

Fucking damn it, I'm pretty sure that was an ICO spoiler I just witnessed and I'm right now about to start the game.
Yes and I find it stupid to be ranting about these games not having strong female characters. Most of the games she mentioned don't have a well written story. Mostly gameplay
which is a waste on multiple levels, in my formalist opinion, but that's beside the point. I think there's a fundamental misconception you're making here that she addresses in the video: the problem isn't that games like GOW or games that invoke these tropes exist; the problem is that they dominate the medium. It's kind of like the bechdel test: the problem isn't that this or that movie fails the test, the problem is that 99% of them do. In other words, you can have your mindless power fantasies, but gaming has more to offer us than that.
Fucking damn it, I'm pretty sure that was an ICO spoiler I just witnessed and I'm right now about to start the game.
well it has a spoiler warning on it for a reason
im waiting
We know you are, you don't need to remind us.
I disagree with a lot of what she said, but I definitely don't think she's a bad person or think her points are 100% invalid (especially her point on overused tropes), and I think this second video was a vast improvement over her first. Well made video, even if I can't completely agree with a lot of her points.
Good job, Facepunch. Giving her views and all that.
Good job, Facepunch. Giving her views and all that.
Last I checked embedded videos don't give views.
they do.
So I'm just gonna ask a totally unrelated question, but when did facepunch actually start liking her? Back when she made her kickstarter, you'd be nearly banned for saying you agreed with her. Now...this.

I don't know what kind of answer you're looking for here. It's just that a lot of people (the ones that bothered to even watch it) agree that this video is a massive improvement over it's predecessor.
I was wondering Wouldn't it still be sexist if those examples she used in the beginning were men? Also, why does she have comments disabled?
I was wondering Wouldn't it still be sexist if those examples she used in the beginning were men? Also, why does she have comments disabled?
The tropes themselves aren't inherently sexist, its their overwhelmingly simplistic use of them that are sexist. Also she disabled comments because these videos are probably meant to be a sort of record, and the youtube comments would have just been nothing but a mess.
