Just thought; Did she not already have a camera and recording equipment? If I remember correctly she has been posting videos before this series. That doesn't depreciate his statement, stay on topic.
plz take your own advice and discuss the video rather than redirect the conversation to things like whining about how much money she got
Because she is in college? She doesn't have the money to but a lot of games? Maybe most of her games are at her family home in another state? Maybe she did use some of the games she owned but wanted more for her collection to help improve the series?
You really don't know, so you shouldn't assume.
plz take your own advice and discuss the video rather than redirect the conversation to things like whining about how much money she got
Edit: If she wants women to be properly represented in video games; she herself needs to be properly respectable in the use of other's money.
You really don't know, so you shouldn't assume.
yeah m8 except these are all better reasons than she is lying about being a gamer and has never worked a day in her life.
But why has she not had an extensive collection up until this point if she was??
hey dudebro you should really calm your nuts I don't think you're allowed to talk about video games at the moment because I have a hard time believing you're an actual Gamer and I first need to see some hard evidence before I can start taking you seriously so please attach a certified document outlining your history in Gaming and a few images of your video game collection with whatever supporting documentation you can provide thanks too many men falsely use the title of Gamer when they're not really True Gamers so I'm sure you understand
do you do this when you go to the movies? what the fuck why should the movie studio need 200 million to make iron man? dont they already have the camera equptment ;-;
So violence in videogames against women is wrong. But say, against men it is fine? What.
So violence in videogames against women is wrong. But say, against men it is fine? What.

What.
Adam Sandler literally made a half-assed movie and kept most of the budget for himself. Sounds familiar.
that's really interesting thanks for sharing
Why even post that? What are you even contributing?
If she wants women to be properly represented in video games; she herself needs to be properly respectable in the use of other's money.
yeah all that money that was given to her specifically for the purpose of her making videos if you didn't donate then you have no right to complain seriously, all this whining about the money she was willingly given from supporters is just stupid nitpicking from people desperately trying to find issues with the entire project you don't see this level of whining on any other kickstarter
yeah all that money that was given to her specifically for the purpose of her making videos if you didn't donate then you have no right to complain
So your saying that I can't call fraud as long as it wasn't my money?
, all this whining about the money she was willingly given from supporters is just stupid nitpicking from people desperately trying to find issues with the entire project you don't see this level of whining on any other kickstarter
You're right, I'd really like this to stop.
So your saying that I can't call fraud as long as it wasn't my money? You're right, I'd really like this to stop.
you can, but it's stupid.
So violence in videogames against women is wrong. But say, against men it is fine? What.
I think you might've missed something.
So your saying that I can't call fraud as long as it wasn't my money?
it wasn't fraud dudebro people gave her money to make videos and that's what she's been doing where are the waves of donors crying fraud how come the only people complaining are the people who didn't donate money
it wasn't fraud dudebro people gave her money to make videos and that's what she's been doing where are all the donors crying fraud how come the only people complaining are the people who didn't donate money
We're gonna stop hombre, gonna go play some games.
So violence in videogames against women is wrong. But say, against men it is fine? What.
Do you even know what was meant by the term violence against women?
glad to see people are watching the video and actively trying to discuss it with well thought out and relevant argumen- oh wait nvm wrong website lol
Arguments about the ethicality of her kickstarter are irrelevant. I won't say there's nothing to them, but as far as the topics her videos are about, the only reason to bring it up is because you can't argue against her ideas.

I feel like if we put men in the roles of women in stuff like this, nobody would complain. Like, if someone took your son, you'd go save them, wouldn't you? If someone took your daughter, the same would apply? You'd do something about it either way. If you're gay and someone took your husband would that tell that men in relationships have a strong and a weak side? No. It wouldn't. It would mean, one guy got taken, while the other wasn't.

[editline]29th May 2013[/editline] which is the problem.
I feel like if we put men in the roles of women in stuff like this, nobody would complain.
why do people do this in these threads all the time? the point of social critique isn't to dream up random hypothetical situations that no one could possibly fathom and then say "what if it was like this?". social critique is about looking at a situation as it is or was and then talking about it. it doesn't have to be anymore more than that regardless, the hypothetical situation where men are marginalised and misrepresented in games would, of course, be bad
Like, if someone took your son, you'd go save them, wouldn't you? If someone took your daughter, the same would apply? You'd do something about it either way.
this is irrelevant because children are children. you're always supposed to rescue children because they are more-or-less genderless and defenseless slabs of pure innocence and good
If you're gay and someone took your husband would that tell that men in relationships have a strong and a weak side? No. It wouldn't
it might? what's to say it wouldn't? if there were thousands of video games where a butch man rescued a really camp man then yes that would totally perpetuate the idea that gay relationships involve one strong and one weak character regardless, this is another hypothetical situation that completely misses the point of feminism and sociology in general [editline]30th May 2013[/editline]
Okay, so it's just the fact that women are portrayed as weak because they are always the ones getting caught. Makes more sense now.
you ninja'd me yeh putting it simply, the only point to feminism (and this video, however badly it does it) is to look at how women are represented in different facets of society - in this case video games
In the end: Who is this woman to tell a whole art direction how to write their stories? Games are art, writing is art, and both will never be politically correct.
Don't publishers have a say on the art direction? It's what EA had done with Fuze.
But why has she not had an extensive collection up until this point if she was??
oh i'm sorry, i forgot the commandments of being a gamer 1. thou shall be a male 2. thou shall hold an extensive collection at all times 3. thou shall not criticize any trope in videogames, because "who cares they're games lol :^)" 4. thou shall allow thine youtube comments open to receive constructive criticism such as "get raped anita u stupid idiot :(!!" [editline]29th May 2013[/editline]
Don't publishers have a say on the art direction? It's what EA had done with Fuze.
No. Not as much as you'd like to think. Also, you're incorrect about that. Insomniac is contracted and shit, EA doesn't have as much of a hold on them as say... Dice.
publishers have a say less in art direction as they do in what they do and do not publish ie most publishers avoid or will turn down proposals with female leads outright
So violence in videogames against women is wrong. But say, against men it is fine? What.
It's not simply the fact that it is violence against women but the way it's portrayed. On the one hand you have violence against women being used as the motivation for the protagonist to beat the bad guy, which often portrays women as weak and needing a man to save them. On the other hand though is the disturbing idea of violence against the women in question being beneficial for them, as the person mentioned in the video about mercy killing the woman in question 'for her own good' or hitting them to snap them out of some kind of behavior or mind control, again implying the violence used against them was for their own good. If you can't see why this is disturbing then you're pretty blind.
i'll just post this thing here also i disagree when she pointed out asura's wrath and god of war because they were based on greek mythology other than that its somewhat informative even when her views of games are different (never saw ico as a male power fantasy, ect)
