You're just going to be getting the same advice here that everyone else has given you, and you seem really averse to taking it.
In short: Cut it the fuck out and take that to heart.
i think the op is rather smart to try and save on gift wrapping supplies
thats how those holiday companies get you, with their double-deluxe wrapping paper, you never see it coming until you've already spent a whole extra $0.50!
We used to save boxes the clothes came in, but that's about it. Our whole family would take the shirts and leave the boxes at my grandmothers, who would use them the next year. We were fine with it. But if your family isn't accustomed to recycling paper / boxes, chances are you should just let it go. Buy cheaper paper, don't use anything like ribbons, etc. and you'll save money.
I want my gift, without or without meaningless wrapping paper. Carry on.
I thought that over the course of a lifetime you saved about $20 doing this.
you sound like the kind of guy who would steal french fries off of his friend's plate
I do this all the time.
But then again, He asks me EVERY SINGLE DAY for a french fry or a chip or whatever I have. I always tell him "No, Maybe if you didn't ask every single goddamned day I'd give you one, but since you insist on asking each and every day, the answer is no."
Anyways, I would have asked my girlfriend for the tin back that I was going to put her gift in, but I turned out one of the items (a bottle of Germ-X :v:) wouldn't fit, so i had to settle for a crappy bag.

Cheap, looks cool.
Especially if you put stamps on and a full address :D
i wrap all my gifts in news paper
because im a horrible person

I do too, I usually use the comics page. (or an article if I know it would be of interest of the receiver)
one time i accidentally wrapped a gift in a story about a child molester that was pretty awkward
Why not just use newspaper?
If you can draw, wrap gifts in plain paper and draw something on it. I know someone who did that last year and it looked awesome.
Something holiday related, or even a hint as to what's inside.

I did that once with a CD for my dad. I wrapped it in sheet music, and wrote the melody on it.

"Is it bad that I steal fries off of my friend's plate? My mother is mortified by this and my girlfriend gets embarrassed but why should I spend money on a ton of fries?"
Ask for wrapping paper and boxes on Christmas!
Ask for wrapping paper and boxes on Christmas!
Actually, I think we gave him enough boxes to last him for the holiday. :v:
I thought about what everyone said but last night when I was exchanging gifts with some friends their bags were too cute so I said fuck it and kept on keeping on.
Now I have two adorable new bags do hold all the shits I give.
Honest question here: Why is OP Dumb? Just because the packaging will look ugly does not mean it's not a christmas present. I have yet to see a single good argument on why this is horribad and I would like to see atleast ONE.

Because the OP doesn't want a bad looking packaging, but he wants a good looking packaging that he then asks to be returned.
It's essentially giving a gift under the condition that the gift isn't given fully. Packaging in itself is a part of the gift.
I can tell you for one thing, that if someone told me that. Here's a gift, but give me back the bag, wrapper whatever, I'd tell them to keep the whole gift.
I'd mind it a whole lot more than no packaging at all. Or plain paper packaging or whatever.
It's like giving someone a gift, with the pricetag still on.
OP, you're such a buzzkill.
OP do you have aspergers
this thread ruined my christmas
Perhaps you just shouldn't use packaging?
Don't wrap your gifts if you're that much of a tight wad.
I get a lot of mixed reactions to this so let me have your opinion on the matter:
When I give someone a gift I try to wrap it in a nice box or bag but http://images.wikia.com/seinfeld/images/7/76/George-costanza.jpg. My mother is mortified by this and my girlfriend gets embarrassed but why should I spend money on a ton of wrapping when I can spend that much more on the gift?
I know it's tacky but I have no shame and even less money.
No, seriously, stop being so cheap.
Being cheap is just gonna mortify and embarrass people you know, because it would be such a wonder of how you still have friends.
Just my two cents.
This is totally normal, you should take the gift back too, but let them have fun with it for 5-10 minutes.
How can you afford internet but not more wrapping paper a fucking year from now?
lol...You guys care more about keeping packaging than I do!
dont wrap it, put it in a bag and wrap it with tissue paper, then when no one is around, take the packaging and stuff it into one of the gifts people give you
Guys, he just wants to save money. He's re-using the paper so he can wrap more people's gifts and give them out.
It's an asshole thing to say that he's bad for doing this. He has no money to afford more packaging, but yet, he still wants to give out his gifts and satisfy his friends and family.
