• Steam for PSP/Mobile?

Steam community app would be brilliant. Hell, steam could even make a mobile section to sell ipod/phone versions of games. Though I'm sure apple would take most of the profit.
I've been wanting this made for a while, purely for the chat client. Although theres already some kind of steam app called "Gears" on the App store for iPhones.
I actully think having a steam friends application in Iphone would be a good idea.
Steam is nothing but a fancy game launcher, why would you want to use it on your PSP/iPhone/whatever? [editline]04:36PM[/editline] If you like, there's an Xfire app for iPhone... XfMobile http://www.appstorehq.com/iblaze-iphone-51620/app
The only reason he wants it is to chat with his friends. He doesn't want to use games on it or anything.
Or a PSP for that matter. I see no point in it, even if it was just a chat client it'd still be pretty lame.
Hl1? yes Hl2? no
Hl1? yes Hl2? no
read thread He's talking about chat client. I WANT THAT TOO, OP. Chat for iPhone would be gooood. Or mobile in general.
The only reason he wants it is to chat with his friends. He doesn't want to use games on it or anything.
Yeah I understand that, but that is not what Steam is for. If you just want to chat with friends, get a Gmail account and be done with it... :/
Could be really good, but I don't see it getting made. Atleast not it the near future.
A steam-chat client for portables would be nice actually.
Get the N900, in the off chance that Valve releases the source for Steam, you'll at least be able to compile it on that phone.
Still would be pretty damn awesome..
I'd love to have it on my Android-phone. It's so much better to chat with Steam, than with something like MSN Messenger or AIM, because they are full of shitty useless features. And if you want to remove those useless features, you have to use another program. Steam-chat is fast as hell and clean/simple. Just the way I like it.
its pretty much only for computers.
A web client would be even nicer, so I don't have to install steam on every pc if I just want to chat.
http://www.vaporapp.net/
Elaborate more?
People have been poking around with the Steam Friends protocol for a while now: http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/3987
The day Steam goes onto a platform other than the PC, I will chop my leg off.
You can already get games such as peggle on the iphone
What the..! Thats high-tech man.
You can use VNC on both PSP and the iPod Touch / iPhone so once you set up your own VNC server on your computer albeit laggy and a bit inefficient you can access it anytime you want and steam chat Or an even better thing to do is get an old computer, run it at a really low resolution, and use it as a VNC box

D:
The PSP wouldn't have the power to play a majority of the games Steam has,
I didnt ment the games, but the community, chat, friends list. NOT GAMES, last time imma say this
The PSP wouldn't have the power to play a majority of the games Steam has,
read Chat client. Which it would be able to handle.
Whats VNC? D:
It allows you to control your computer from your mobile device It is pretty slow so unless you have something like a netbook on the same network you can't run videos or games and the good clients either cost money (iPod) or need a M33'd PSP.
I actually got an M33'd PSP, (shh) ^^
Why shh? Because you have an outdated custom firmware?
