Also, when you do contact her, make sure to show her this (unless she will honestly hate it) because it'll show your devotion and the fact that you still love her. Either that, or just sit down with her and have a serious discussion about what happened and how you want to fix it.

Also, I never talk to my family, save for my uncle sometimes, but even then we just debate socio-political happenings and issues.
