Maybe I interpreted it differently. I didn't say their actions were reasonable, either way. As I said above, the insinuations the presentation was making probably made them even more violent.

The only moderate muslims are the ones who have too much to lose or are to afraid to act out violently against Islams perceived enemies. Your arguments and logic were crap. You have misinterpreted the video blaming Lars for everything that happened. But it wasn't his fault. The whole situation was a result of their closed minds and ignorance. I agree that we mostly hear about muslim extremists and that it may spawn racism, which is then going to multiply. But you cannot put all the blame on those who comment this in hateful way. The extremists are the first to blame.

Once again, that was my purpose of ranting in this topic. It just seems like while I was focused on the idiotic comments (Please note my first post in this topic, the first fucking line...), people who argued with me were arguing about the video itself. It was completely pointless, it seems.

As do I, usually. I am not a religious person, I base most of my beliefs in science. But I have friends who are Muslims, and when people discriminate against them, it makes my blood boil. Discrimination in general pisses me off, so its my personal mission to tell these idiots how fucking stupid they are. First, I honestly thought that the presentation was in bad taste, that it WAS making insinuations about Islam, or at least Arabian culture, being tied to homosexuality. The thing that I did not get was that this wasn't what the people in the video were pissed about. I won't sugarcoat it, I fucked up, but again, it wasn't really what I was pissed about.

Second, is that really fair to the Muslim people, though? Just because a small portion of them are violent, its ok to insult their beliefs? To discriminate against them when they just want to function in society? Seriously, no one had a problem with Muslims before 9/11, at least not in such an obvious way. Now suddenly people assume they are all violent and the religion needs to be destroyed. Its fucked up.

That IS what I've been saying. I used other religions as examples because I'm sure a good portion of the people hating on them are actually part of another religion. Of course I didn't say things nicely, because these people were talking about how "All muslims should just die" or "They should bomb Mecca". I was pissed, and these idiots didn't deserve a calm response.

Extremists are extremists, they are idiots who take things too far. My point was not that these extremists weren't the source of the problem, or weren't actually a threat, it was that they shouldn't cause other Muslims to suffer because of their actions. Do you know how many Muslims were hurt or killed because of the backlash of 9/11? We are living in the 21st century, people. We should know by now that discrimination is fucking stupid.

All extremists give bad example of their group and are source of problem for the group. You can't change that by attacking those who make false assumptions, you'll only push things farther.
