My thoughts exactly.
Someone ought to make a Borg army. Like from Star Trek. Hey... no actually, you shouldn't. Now I got three ideas for armies. :D
[B]The Scourge of Ka'Mais:[/B] In the 41st millenium, many threats have arisen. One of the foremost of these threats are the ancient terror known as the Necrons. The Necrons have lain dormant beneath planets throughout the known universe for millenia, awaiting the eventual repopulation of it. Their gods, the C'tan, hunger for the souls of the living and use their legions of metal-wrought warriors to harvest them. The Necrons however, are not solely dependant on the C'tan for orders. This is the tale of a Necron Lord, the Necron Lord of Ka'Mais. In the system around the Tau outpost world of Ka'Mais, a fierce battle raged between the space-faring locusts known as the Tyranids and the young technological race, the Tau. The Tau were not equipped to deal with such masses of Tyranids, and they were slowly driven back planet by planet as the minions of the Hive Mind slaughtered countless Fire Warriors and Kroot Carnivores. As the Tau were pushed back to the last surviving planet by the biological monstrosities, the Tyranids approached the only moon of Ka'Mais. On landfall, the underbelly of the planet suddenly began flickering to life. Deep beneath the planet's crater-marked crust, Necron Tombs resumed activity, their Tomb Spyders repairing millenia of damage and neglect in the dark interior. Racks upon racks of limp Warriors soon stirred, detaching and raising their deadly Gauss Rifles once more. As legions of the dark figures emerged from the gates to their inner sanctums, sand covered tomb entrances that were thought to be mountains to the Tau explorers suddenly rumbled and emerged from their veiled entrances. Black monoliths of epic size, inscribed with golden sigils and wards of protection, they jutted out of the barren deserts like harbingers of death. The Tyranid vanguard organisms were instantly alerted to the presence of Necrons, and millons of lesser Gaunts and Synapse Creatures frenziedly swarmed towards the towering structures. As the first ranks of scything Hormagaunts approached the abysmal black gates, Warriors began to appear as they marched soundlessly out onto the soon-to-be battlefield - their gleaming forms approaching the tide of monsters without fear. Terrifyingly huge creatures roared and screeched as the waves of Gaunts charged with a malign intelligence. The Warriors opened fire as they continued to march forward, pale green arcs of lightning-like energy tearing apart the sinewy carapaces of Gaunts like they were but paper before a driving storm. The gaunts piled over each other in frenzied leaps, stabbing and slashing in a flurry of talons and blades as they collapsed onto the Necron ranks. The Necrons hardly budged as several dozen of their comrades were crushed under the sheer weight of squirming bodies, they merely hacked and fired back at the gaunts, leaving torn and dismembered corpses in their wake. The larger Tyranid creatures soon emerged through the waves of skittering Gaunts, Carnifexes bellowed and charged through the wave crushing Gaunts and Warriors alike under their bulk. Massive Scything Talons and waves of Bio-Plasma crippled Warriors as the Carnifexes raged in their gleaming tide. Raking Gauss fire burnt holes and streaks in their massive chitinous carapaces, but it was not enough to bring the beasts down. As dozens more of the Warriors were cut down and rent apart by the bestial wave of Tyranids, more poured forth from the dark edifice of the Tomb. It appeared as though if would be a war of deathly attrition. The battle raged on for the course of four hours as countless corpses piled up in front of the tombs. Walls of chitinous bodies formed an embankment 30 feet high as their bretheren burrowed through and climbed over them. The Necrons continued to fight at a disadvantage, the Tyranids using their own dead as a shield to advance under the barrage of deadly Gauss fire. As each Warrior was torn apart, green energies enveloped its pieces and transported it back into the deep halls of the tomb. Tomb Spyders diligently repaired and refitted the broken Necrons, making them battle ready once more. More sections of the complex and massive Tomb flared with energy as more Warriors awoke to carry out their celestial duty. A cloud of twisted figures blotted out the feeble rays of the nearby sun, a massive swarm of Tyranid Gargoyles and Harpies. They dove towards the tomb, seeking to overwhelm the cold Necrons with their numbers. In response, many floating shapes of Destroyers emerged from the open doors of the entryway. Their platform fused bodies drifted up above the Necron ranks below, and opened fire with rapid blasts of searing green energy from their Gauss Cannons into the leathery mass of winged beasts above. Hundreds of the screeching creatures fell from the sky at once, mangled heaps landing amidst the Tyranid swarm. The Destroyers continued to scythe down the diving horde with their baleful energies until they finally swept into them. Several Destroyers were cut down by the speed and fury of the beasts, others sewpt past them and picked off Warriors below. Soon however, the Immortals emerged from their slumber. Hulking figures carrying Gauss Blasters, the most favored servants of the C'tan walked out amongst their brothers into the fight. The lumbering Carnifexes were no match for the power and destructive force of their weapons, and fell in crashing masses into the ichor-stained sand. The Immortals began to turn the tide of battle, keeping the Tyranids at bay as they continued to relentlessly drive against them. In the deepest chamber of the Tomb, the final systems were activated at last. Deep within a sarcophogus of black metal, the Necron Lord of Ka'Mais awoke. The Lord stood and cast off the covering to his sanctum, revealing his glistening form. He wore a mantle of regal blue, etched with Necrontyr sigils. It emitted a shroud of darkness and despair that would make all but the bravest warrior quail before his might. His breast was adorned with a thick golden carapace of metal that pulsed with green energy within. He reached with a skeletal hand upwards and beckoned his staff. With a flash of energy, a wicked looking Staff of Light appeared. He clasped the staff as it glowed with untold power. He raised it once more and struck the haft against the ground, a wave of spiraling energy enveloping him. With a flash of light, he appeared on the battlefield above. He gazed into the ranks of beasts through his golden death-mask with burning red orbs. He quickly began to march through the ranks of his warriors into the fray, his subordinates quickly parting like a tide. As a trio of Carnifexes spotted the skeletal king, they screamed and charged at him. In response, the Lord glared at them and raised his staff. He swung it at the foremost one, cleaving off its head with one fell stroke as the array of skinning blades whistled and gleamed with purple blood. The headless Carnifex collapsed in a flailing heap as its broodmates continued to charge. The Lord fired a blast of green energy at the second one, blinding and searing one of its eyes. It roared and sidestepped, covering its bleeding face. The third one however, slammed into the Lord and grabbed him at the waist with one of its Crushing Claws. It proceeded to slam the Lord into the ground, stabbing and pummeling it with claws and talons. The body of the magnificent Lord was rent apart and thrown aside, glittering remnants scattered. The Necrons continued to fight with soundless bravado as the Tyranids pressed on. The fragments of the Lord however suddenly quivered and began to reassemble. Sickly energies surrounded the Lord's form as he was reconstructed by a pennant strung around his neck. The Lord rose and raised his staff once more. He marched towards the two Carnifexes and struck them down with cruel sweeps of his staff, stabbing the one responsible for killing him in the jaw and firing the arcs of gauss energy through the blades into the beast's gut. The creature imploded in a spray of Tyranid guts and ichor, plastering nearby Tyranid organisms. The tide of the battle had turned indeed as ranks of Immortals and Destroyers marched with their Lord into the wave of monsters. As thousands more Immortals emerged from their tombs, the Necrons eventually broke free from their defensive front and began to sweep the landscape. Tyranids frantically retreated in the face of this threat and hid. The Lord himself strode at the forefront of the force, exterminating a vast number of the souless creatures. The Hive-Fleet retreated from orbit and fled into the dark depths of space from whence it came. Several hours later, every Tyranid on the planet was exterminated, and waves of small Necron Scarabs swarmed over the battlefield: Breaking down the millions of bodies left behind. The Lord returned to his Tomb and awoke his siblings, the Lesser Lords of Ka'Mais. The Council assembled as the Lord spoke, a rare event for any Necrons: "Slaughter...Murder...Harvest...We Go...Now...". The Lesser Lords acknowledged their superior soundlessly and boarded the newly emerged Tomb-Ships beneath the surface of the planet. The Tau on the main planet of Ka'Mais cheered and reveled that such a turn of events had occured. A race of hidden beings had completely halted the deadly wave of Tyranids and saved their system. The Ethereal Caste leader of the planet made a broadcast at the Moon of Ka'Mais and welcomed their new friends to a feast and celebration of their victory. The Lord of Ka'Mais did not reply, he simply directed his fleet to make planetfall. As the massive crescent shaped ships landed in the Tau Vehicle Pads, a solemn door opened in the shining underbelly of the ship. The Lord of Ka'Mais decended to witness batallions of Fire Warriors saluting his approach. The Ethereals hailed him and welcomed him with open arms. The Lord stood silent, staring at the foolish leaders of this poorly-defended race. At last he spoke, declaring: "...Die..." The Harvest of Ka'Mais took less than 9 hours. __________________________________________________________________________ The Scourge of Ka'Mais will be like a Hero Unit for my army when I make his sprite. I doubt I'll use him very often due to him being incredibly powerful. Most likely if I need a commander unit I'll use a Lesser Lord or Immortal. And yes, this was all written by me only the base story of the events of Ka'Mais (Originally about 5 sentences) was used as a backbone. EDIT: I hope my overly huge and detailed background didn't kill the thread =(.
Cool story bro.
Well that counts for something XD. Took me about an hour to type up, even then I rushed the ending a little bit.
Though I must, as the annoying person I am, complain about that, Tyranids almost always avoid worlds and those around them where Necrons are. :smug: [editline]06:31PM[/editline] Especially tomb worlds.
Well the new Nid' codex says they landed on the Moon of Ka'Mais and woke the Necrons there. Not-So-Pretty battle ensued and Necrons win. I don't think I've ever seen a battle of Nids' VS. Necrons where the Necrons didn't win though. Guess the Necrons are just too badass to lose to the galaxy rapist army.
Yeah but, it also says that hivefleet.. Behemoth or Leviathan avoid a cluster of worlds where a Necron tomb laid, even though there where several colonies surrounding it and the communications kept working even though the hivefleets normally black out all. [editline]06:37PM[/editline] But anyway, it works I guess.
Yeah I read that part too. It was Leviathan that avoided that sector. I assume the Tyranids avoided it because Necrodemis is ungodly hard to break down and isn't Biomass, something the Nids need to keep moving. Else their fleets would get bogged down and swarms decrease in size. TL;DR: The Nids avoided them because it wasn't worth the effort.
I was always hazy on the Necrons and the Tyranids. Always had a Tau army.
I play both the Necrons and Tyranids, oh the Irony. Tau sucks against both of them, every time I've played Tau with my armies they get owned. I've had one or two close calls but otherwise Tau just gets the short end of the stick.
They still avoided the worlds with valuable resources (Biomass). That's all from me now. :downs:

An ancient captial nurtured by the boughs of a great tree blessed by magical waters, and protected by the moon and stars. There is a legend in this country. In a time forgotten, a people forced to wander by starvation and cold were led to this land by a wondrous star. When that star returned to the heavens, it sent to the earth a spiritual medium, the first Star Sibyl, who could hear its voice. She promised Windurst glory and prosperity. An age passed, and a time of destruction drew near. The moon fell into shadow, the stars grew silent, and the people lost their way. Those who found the light again were those who knew themselves. Those who knew courage. Those who knew justice. Those who knew truth. And then there came one whose determination would create a new future. That radiance would be as a beacon for all that lay ahead. Once again, a star of hope has been born to this earth... A new tale will begin here, woven by the myriad stars of this universe... [/i]
