• Do you ever think life is moving too quickly?

I must admit, I certainly wish I could have some sort of regression back into the old days. Interestingly enough, my life has felt like it's been going at the same rate as was depicted by Errorproxy. But suffice to say that these really are the years when you start to become an individual. [editline]4:37 PM[/editline] I know one thing for sure. In spite of the fact that people have been coming and going rather quickly these days, I know I'll be here until fp comes to a coda. Heheh, I still have my N64.
Just reading the OP made me nostalgia in my pants over and over. [editline]11:26PM[/editline]
My Health teacher said, from the moment you are born to middle school things will seem normal. Then middle school goes twice as fast. High School goes even double. And when you graduate, life goes twice the speed of high school.
Its scary to think about sometimes but this is exactly how it feels.
In ten years expect a lot of "2000's were the best hands-down". I would love to time travel and try out the nineties from an older perspective.
Ha, the Oughts, what a joke.
I miss being 7 years old.
Hey guys, if you feel that time is moving too fast, I found some ways to combat it Your perception of time is relative of what you do. The same boring routine every day is not memorable, and will cause your memories of these times to blur into one quick thought. Add variety to your life! Do crazy shit every day! Benjamin Franklin spent an hour at the end of his day to contemplate what he had done. If you "meditate" on your day, you can fully remember and comprehend everything, adding much needed depth to your life. I've tried these out and made my life slow down a lot. I was terrified after my first year in college was gone before I could even blink. Old people talk about life being too fast, and if you don't do anything about it, they're right.
I miss nearly everything about my childhood [editline]03:36AM[/editline]
Hey guys, if you feel that time is moving too fast, I found some ways to combat it Your perception of time is relative of what you do.
You're going to die soon.
Didn't you post that in some other thread?
I'm finishing school in a couple of months, the last two years have gone past so quickly that it seems like only a couple of months ago that 2008 ended. I know it's the start of another chapter of life after finishing school, but it's also leaving behind an entire childhood. In the next few years I'll have crossed the first quarter threshold of my life into the second. Knowing my way of rationing my time, I'll have done nothing by age 50 and have a massive midlife crisis. I think my current school-holidays are a good indicator of that. Did all the fun stuff for a couple of days last week, now with a few hours left of the holiday I've realised I haven't done anything with my time, least of all homework.
I miss the 1990's, oh God, I miss the 1990's so bad, I was born in 1982, and so I've lived the very best years of my life in the 1990's. The music, high school, video games, movies, popular culture, my friends... well right now I'm kinda sleeping awake dreaming about those golden days. Yes, life/time moves too fast, and the older I get, the faster it goes... PLEASE SOMEONE STOP IT! Time to turn into an ageless Elf, BUT HOW?! Heh, another 50 years or so for me and then buh-bye shitty world!
Life feels better when you slow down.
disagree to fucking hell. Life is depressing if slowed down, it is depressing if you lack work, as you lose meaning by just sitting on the couch doing nothing.
I remember when Summer felt like a year
I feel like life is too short. I am only 14, but I want to do so much, but there is just not enough time. I know its pretty optimistic, but I want to travel the world, learn loads of things about culture and food and language, but first I have to finish high school, then college, and I might even be married by then, I definitely dont want to be someone who is 30 without any with me, maybe not married, ut I want kids by then, and then its at least another 18 years until I can actually do anything again, and by then I'll be old and cant do anything. I'm not afraid of death because of what might happen afterwards, but because I fear that it might come too soon before I am ready to die
The reason time goes by so fast is because of routine. Tell me, what did you do...2 months ago on the 4th? You most likely don't remember. What about the day after? The day after that? What about after that? We end up doing the same thing every day so we can't remember what happened because it ain't memorable, giving the appearance of time zooming past.
a few months ago, I was talking to my younger neighbour, and they didn't know who the teenage mutant ninja turtles were, it made me feel old
Shit... I've pretty much spent all of my life in school, and in two years I'll be twenty... AAAAAAAH why did i come into this thread?!
Great video. Watch it, its amazing. Only 45 seconds but so much meaning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWlbZO92ZyA
Oh god, that was depressing.
Yeah but you gotta admit the Dad in the beginning had an awesome fucking mustache.
I'm sure some of use here will be having a nostalgia fest similar to those born in the early 90's eventually. people of my generation will probably be talking about how awesome their gamecubes were with smash bros. melee, mario sunshine, and zelda wind waker, considering those were the games that were out when I was around the op's age. Also, man it would be amazing if facepunch lasted until 2100. You gotta wonder what will happen to popular websites over those time spans. Will youtube still exist? google? 4chan? Or will google have been replaced by some other search engine? Or at that point in time will we even use something that could be identified as a modern search engine? Will some law clamp down on sites like 4chan and cause it to be shut down (not saying that that's a bad thing, just it's kind of hard to imagine an internet without them)? Man, the web could be a very different place in 100 years. I mean hell look at how much it's changed in about two decades. Sometimes I wish that I could teleport 100 years into the future just for a day or so so that I could see how much society has changed, how technology has advanced, etc. That would be the best.
This applies to most peoples childhood. It was too short.
I feel this way all the time, and it kind of worries me. If I'm so nostalgic about my childhood when I'm still in my teens, how much is it going to suck looking back to now when I'm 50? Actually, thinking about the future is kind of comforting. Yes, plenty of great memories have gone by, but at least I still have (hopefully) the next 3/4 of my life to look forward to.
I have a serious concern about life. Let me consult Facepunch for help.
I have a serious concern about life. Let me consult Facepunch for help.
I don't have a concern about life. I never asked for help. If you actually read my post you would see I was just bringing up the topic of how fast life moves for discussion.
This applies to most peoples childhood. It was too short.
I remember as a kid I thought it was too long.
The OP is like an old person already. He remembers the "good ol' days" of when he was young, and complains that children only think about sex, and you are perfect compared to them. And also, playing old games on the N64 and how the child will be weird by making a post about him thinking about "Twilight Princess", but not you thinking about the older Zelda. I can see THROUGH your post, OP, believe me.
Thanks, man - now I'm depressed.
:saddowns:
When I was a kid I always said "I don't wanna grow up!!!" but now I want a job.
That 40 second video wasn't as depressing to me as it was to you guys.. In the credits there is a figurant called "Stunt baby" :v:
I just hope we move back to Canada before I have to move out. I've lived in Arizona since I was 5 and I'm 14 now. It sucks balls here in almost every possible way. There's nothing to do here either so I won't have much to look back on.

im in ukraine for a month. time is not moving. 22 days to go. as for a serious responce to the OP, the lack of a computer for the first week of being here led me to a lot of thinking. then an anxiety attack and some depression but anyway, the point is that life is short. ive had about a 1/4th of an active lifetime by todays standards. sure after 60 i wont be dead, but i probably wouldn't be able to do the same things i'd be doing when i'm 30. infact, if when i'm 60 that isn't true, i will either be living the good life or have a ton of regrets. the final point here i guess, is just to not have any regrets with your life.
